I have no idea why so many think Zefang deserved anything.
Grandpa was a good person. Nobody liked Zefang. That makes him quite a bad person. He only changed, because he died. Maybe this is a lesson to learn. Live well as long as it's possible and not too late.

Like you said he appeared in ep 1 and 12. We didn't see much. Even if someone has a long relationship with a woman, doesn't mean he couldn't be bisexual. Assuming that he couldn't be bi, means no bisexual could ever be in a long relationship.

No pity for people like her. I skipped the scene. I didn't want to watch a pity party and he didn't have any reason to beg for someone awful as her.
