Mukodono! (2001)

Both dramas centre around the marriage of a celebrity. In Papadol! we see an idol marrying a mother with three children whereas in Mukodono! the idol marries into the big family of his beloved. In Papadol! we see the interactions between children and their mother's new husband whereas Mukodono! shows the interactions of our idol/actor with his wife's family and he becoming a part of it.

The story is similar. Both dramas are about idols who are facing a new family.

These are both really funny, light dramas with Nagase Tomoya as the lead.
In Mukodono he's a weird singer, and in MBMH he's a yakuza disguised as a student.

Trust me, do yourself a favor and watch the 2001 vision. Its high pitch is a bit dated but overall it is is exactly what it set out to be.
