Season: 1

Chen Jia Yu and her mother have a talk and come to the conclusion that a woman needs to gain support to stand up to her in-laws. Jia Yu looks for a job, believing she will have no position in the family if she has no children and no career. Zhen Xin offers her a job, and Jia Yu feels obligated to accept, even though Zhen Xin skirts around the subject of her salary. It is soon apparent that Jia Yu’s job at Zhen Xin’s company is simply to do all sorts of odd jobs and to serve the employees there, who order her around mercilessly. She is also asked to entertain Zhen Xin’s major client from Taiwan, who turns out to be Director Ruan. Tired out and nursing a cold after a long day at work, Jia Yu tells Zhen Hao she can’t take it easy, or Liu Hui Rong will compare her to Song Xiao Zhuang again. The next day, Jia Yu’s mother looks Xiao Zhuang up and hints to her not to go near Zhen Hao. Xiao Zhuang gets angry and talks back, sparking a quarrel. Jia Yu does not want to continue showing Director Ruan around. She has also not heard from Zhen Xin about her salary, so she checks with the HR department and finds out that her salary is a mere RMB 3,400 after tax deductions. She feels insulted and exploited by Zhen Xin. (Source: Viu)
