WTF

ok so i'm really pissed off. i usually don't watch dramas with more than 16 up to 20 eps . but i watched this one with 49 cuz everyone said its good and i just have a bad habit of finishing a show even though i dislike it just because i started it in the first place. at first , the first few episodes i really became addicted to the drama but then the feminist in me got triggered everytime daoming si dragged shancai from her collar like that like some thief or idk , i found it soooooo disrespectful and mind you , they romanticized it along with that horrible scene in the uni rooftop . not gonna lie , i cringed a lot during watching this drama but lei beautiful face lmao made me go through it . another thing , the horrible kissing skills of the leading actors , tf is that? shancai BEARLY opens her mouth , you could clearly see that daoming si tried his best . what make it ironic is that the supporting roles kissing scenes are way better lol. also nobody I MEAN NOBODY asked for that long ass episode of caina love story with that old dude , for a moment i was questioning whether i was watching the right drama. and lastly , the confusing , weird ending , that made me lose my braincells . i will just say one word ; WTF

I've watched boys over flowers and loved it so much that I ended up watching meteor garden as soon as it was released. honestly, it's okay. the acting really made me cringe but it's because most of the actors are newbies the music is pretty good, but kind of repetitive at times (like every drama). I loved how they filmed in different locations because it really brought a change of scenery. I applaud Shen Yue. and Darren Chen, they're acting was the best and I hope to see them in more dramas in the future! honestly, I don't think I would watch this again, but it was a good experience.

I'm not sure why it took me so long to write a review, this was my first c-drama EVER and I instantly fell in love. The characters and storyline were amazing if you haven't seen it yet WATCH IT NOW add it to your to be watched list but whatever you do WATCH THIS SHOW I promise you won't regret it. I'm a huge romance fan so I loved how the male lead really had to work for the females leads affection. I enjoyed how possessive the male lead was towards the female character I think it played out well. I've never seen any of the other versions so I don't have much to go off of but to me, I love how this. I would love for them to do a second season but I think this is it ( Sad Face)

If u haven't watched Meteor Garden or Boys over Flowers then READ THIS

Okay, I am a person who likes to resd reviews before starting the dramas but as i read them i found that many ppl who wrote a review have seen the previous versions but I HADN'T.

Story: So the story is a bit diff from normal cliched dramas as DAOMING SI cant have a replacement. But I said a BIT as the normal rich male lead and poor female lead is very common.
Then there are some moments of daoming si/shancai which are veryy nice... Also there bickering is sweet, and the F4 are soo funny wheen they r 2gether(i wish there were more scenes like that). But then on the negative side I hated the ending as their marriage was just... Also how does a mother keep her child hungry for days? Then also the same mother accepts daoming si and shancai's relationship just after seeing a video???

Acting:Daoming si- I LOVEDDDDD dylan's acting considering it was his first drama.
Shancai: I agree that her emotional moments were awesome but i didnt like some of hers and lei's scenes.

Songs: JUST PERFECTTTTTTT!!!!!!! I MISS THEM MORE THAN THE DRAMA

Ok ok this may be some controversy but tbh out of all the versions this one is my favorite! The way Daoming Si was portrayed as a young boy who wants to be loved and he’s childish so we get to see more of a carefree and fun guy! Which I loved. And Shancai well she was a bit frustrating it took her forever to confess! Anyway some of the characters were useless like no offense Caina and the other guy whoever it was just a waste of screen time I did not care about that relationship at all. I skipped it to be honest! The music and production is pretty good and goes with the scenes well. There is definitely scenes that made me cry a lot and that made me laugh a lot. The relationship and chemistry between Wang he di and Shen yue as Daoming si and Shancai were great so it was a lot of fun to watch! The playful and soft but dominating and aggressive Daoming Si was a great impact on the show and the way he cared about only Shancai. The show was definitely a bit different from the original Daoming Si didn’t hit Shancai like in the original which made me glad! I’ve watched this show about 8 times and actually I’m rewatching it now I’m on episode 35 SO OMG yes I THINK THIS SHOW IS GREAT!

The best and the closest adaptation of the manga

This review is not going to be long.
First, I have to admit that it is by far my favorite C-drama. I have watched all the other adaptations and all are good so I won't make an comparison. The story (although a basic one) was very heartwarming. It felt like a journey and when I ended it , I didn't crave for a season 2 because the ending was perfect.
second, let's come to the cast. The acting was fairly good (considering most were newbies) and it didn't get me bored even for a moment. The looks of the cast were exceptionally good and somehow they could gel in the character so well that even when I think of the characters, their pictures come to my mind
And last but not the least, the sound track in this drama is too good to explain. It made the drama look more real and appealing.
So, overall, if you want to watch a drama that will keep you hooked till the last episode and even make you comeback every time you think of watching something else then nothing can be better than this

Meteor Garden 2018 literally tore my heart and made it flutter at the same time. There were so many upside downs between the main leads which was kind of annoying. Another thing is the part of Caina and Meizuo and the other guy which was so unnecessary, it made me skipped a lot of episodes because of them. I also loved on how they focused on Xiaoyou and Ximen's love story because seriously, they are so cute together! I loved that they also gave them a happy ending :) Overall, I definitely recommend this drama. It is worth watching like seriously. Just get ready to ride their rollercoaster as a lot of things get in their way. Also, their OST is so good and it always makes me cry whenever I hear them! The acting was superb, they would really bring you into tears. The chemistry was so sweet. Until now, I haven't found a drama that could surpass this and it still makes me cry every single time I remember this drama :(

if compare to old MG, Hana yori dango, Boys over flower, and even the original comic, this is the only MG that explain everything, like why they do what they did in the movie. what happened behind the back in the lead life instead of leaving audiences to guess it.

and compare with all those, this is the most funny, saddest, cutest, sweetest. i like how they tell the story for all their friends. how the sweet and tamed daoming si are after meeting the girl. and how i cried like hell when they broke up.

why i gave high rating, is because i hardly cried when watching a drama and i never did for previous series, but i did in this series. i even like this ending better than old MG ending..

watched this right after boys over flowers and even though i can say that it is basically the same story, there was enough differences for me to love them both. i though each sets of characters had the own uniqueness, even though it is essentially the same story. another cute, average girl fighting for what she believes in, going through hard times and never giving up. you cant help but root for her. and the obnoxious lead guy, even through he can have pretty much any girl he wants, falls for this ordinary but special girl. i think this is what i like most. even though most may want her to fall for the secondary lover, i was always pulling for the jerk, because you knew his love for her was so complete. i love all the cliches of these asian dramas..i will keep watching..i really dont watch american tv shows anymore.. ironically enought the only usa show i watch is fresh off the boat, about an asian family making it in the usa...thanks for reading

Review of "Meteor Garden"

- To be honest I don't know how I even made it through this show. I say this because as the person I am today I wouldn't have lasted 10 maybe not even 10 epispdes. Thats how frustrating this series was.
- The things that saved this show were the side characters/couples and the soundtrack.
- I pereonally enjoyed the side characters/couples more than I did the main couple/characters. This was mainly because it seemed like they had more depth to them. They main couple was full of cliches and straight up bull while still managing to make me cringe in a bad way. To side characters stories were heart-breaking, funny, and just more realistic. I'm all for throwing in some cringy, unrealistic love scenes here and there bc this is a drama its gonna be there but the main couple kind of overdid it.
- The soundtrack was fuxking awesome though, there were some scenes that really got to me just because of how sad the music was.
- Overall, I wouldn't recommend this show to anyone mostly because I wouldn't want them to experiemce the same pain I went through.

The One that started it all...

This was my very first CDrama and only my 4th Asian drama period. (Squid Game, Alice in Borderland and Sisyphous: The Myth.) This show made me mourn its ending so badly that I wound up on YouTube looking up the OST which lead me to eventually being able to mimick along with the songs (can you call it "singing" along if you dont speak the language? ?) and eventually lead me to KPop. I've now watched over 100 dramas and movies, I'm an official member of multiple KPop Bands, attended 4 livestream KPop concerts, have 3 premium subscriptions to Asian steaming video apps and am learning korean (it's a slow process, I'm lazy and have too many shows to watch ? I'm barely into vowels but I'm going to do it dammit!). And all in less than 10 months.
This drama started me down the rabbit hole and I've never been happier. it'll forever have a special place in my heart. The acting isn't great and there were so many cringe moments that I had to pause to calm down from laughing at how embarrassing or bad a scene was but the story was so good. it never let me down and there were MANY nights I got about 3 hrs of sleep because I HAD to find out what happened next. I laughed so hard and I cried uncontrollable sobs and the OST is amazing. Being in what I affectionately call my "Mid-life Crisis" this took me back to my younger days and remembering the newness of being attracted to someone and flirting and falling in love and I think that's why I became so obsessed with this show as well as all the other dramas I've watched. Every show I watch brings that feeling back and makes me feel young again. Is it Cheesy, Yes. Is it embarrassing to swoon over boys half my age, Yup. Is it worth watching anyway, Absolutely!
I've also watched the Korean Version 'Boys Over Flowers' (OMG the hair! still cant see that preview without laughing) and the Japanese and Thai versions are also on my watch list.
Oh! and if you watch this, watch 'My Unicorn Girl' afterwards, (it's cute and you get to see more Darren Chen!) there's a huge Easter egg in it that I screamed and laughed so hard I literally woke my entire household up ?

8.5.22 - I wanted to come back and update this review to say, I just finished the Hana Yori Dango trilogy and I now fully understand the obsession with it. But I also wanted to say that Meteor Garden was the closest adaptation to the original. The Korean Version was like a "Cliff's Notes" highlight version but with Meteor Garden you get the full story. And while Hana Yori Dango now takes my top spot for the Best of all the versions, Meteor Garden still holds a very special place in my heart. This story, no matter what language it's told in, is timeless and will never get old.

I also understand why they went so obnoxious with the hair in the HYD adaptations ??

I have to admit I have not seen the previous versions of this story plot, which I think existed in many other countries/languages. This was my first experience and I really enjoyed it. The female and male lead roles really hit it off and made this Rom-Com worthwhile to watch.
Story line is quite predictable ending up with a happy ending. However the interactions between the 'bad boy' attitude male lead and the innocent female lead were good and very convincing. The back story on the rest of the F4 gang also made the whole story line tie together nicely. Brings back a lot of high school memories.
The best part was the soundtrack, you can get it on iTunes. I have been listening to the songs and replaying the movie scenes in my head. Very catchy Mandarin Pop, which gives an uplifted feeling when listening to it.
Overall, very good experience watching this series and did not regret it. But I do not think I would jump into re-watching it too quickly because there are others out there which are better.
