It's a remake. Comparations can and will happen. It's just that when you see a remake, it's necessary an open mind to indigest the new (inevitable) changes in the plot (especially if you are emotionally involved with the original version and has high expectations) To be fair, I watched the Japanese version. As expected, the Japanese version is just as good as the Korean version. But I would like to try and make some points here. There's things I liked better in the Japanese version, but since I'm doing a Korean version review, I'll say the things I liked better in the Korean Version.
1.
I just liked better the development in the Korean Version. First, in the j version, the main character sometimes seems to has memory problems instead of prosopagnosia. In the k, I could empathy better thinking his acting with such indiference towards people and his habit of rarely looking people in the eyes is because of his ill, since he can't see faces and expressions he can't empathy better and faster with people. To me, it's more clearly in the k version. His personality apparently distant and cold has a justification. Another thing, sometimes the protagonist random seems to regonized people probably because of the props, but the narrative omits those details. But in the k version, it's all clear why he regonize his close ones. Glasses, necklace, lipstick...
2. Supporting Roles has a storyline.
The storyline of the j version seems more centralized in the life of two protagonist. It's okay, it's a good story tho. But I just like how them gave the story to many characters in the korean version.
3.
I don't know but I just feel that in the Korean version, the bond between the main protagonist, Yoo Chan and Tae Joo, the antagonist seems more strong and convincing with leads to a more shocking betrayal. In the j version, vice president thinks he's a gold pot and genius. In the korean, a friend.
4. It's more... light??!
There's humor (also in the j version, I see) but all the situations (I mean, almost all..) has a light and easy to indigest atmosphere. It's up to you decide if it's good or not but to me it's definitely is. Also, ithat is probably the reasons why they don't make a big deal of his ill and not really explored his familiar drama in my point of view. There's drama, but it's moderate.
Overall, I really liked the drama and the performances of the actors and actresses. I enjoyed the two versions.
