Legend of Fei (2020)

The Untamed also casts Wang Yibo as the male lead . It is also one of the most famous dramas. Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi, two talented disciples of respectable clans, meet during a cultivation training and accidentally discover a secret carefully hidden for many years. Taking on the legacy of their ancestors, they decide to rid the world of the ominous threat, but in a dramatic turn of events, Wei WuXian dies.
Sixteen years later, Wei WuXian is brought back to life through a self-sacrificing ritual. He conceals himself behind a mask and assumes the identity of his summoner. Soon Wei WuXian reunites with Lan WangJi, and the pair starts working together to solve the mysteries of the present and unravel the truth behind the events of the past. This is the story of The Untamed. This is also a historic thriller, increasing the similarites between both dramas.

Both main leads have a sickness with their internal strength. Though they got it differently, they had to find alternatives to survive in the martial arts world. They can't fight without grave consequences.

has 6 clans fighting with a mysterious mastermind behind the entire thing. the female lead is a strong fighter. as well as the 2 different and separate identities of the male lead. the female soon becomes aware of this and feels foolish for now realising it sooner.

- Female protagonists are strong, courageous, intelligent & the leader/heir to their own strongholds
- Male leads are cunning, strong & very affectionate & devoted to the female leads
- Spans over a love story that chronicles the lovers to go beyond everything & leave no stones unturned for the sake of their lovers
- Appearances of revered martial arts masters of the respective continent & their legends

Both are related to a hidden treasure. The key to the to treasure is distributed among different sects and everyone is competing and killing each other for it.

- FL learns martial arts on a secluded mountain
- ML comes to the mountain and disrupts the peace
- Resulting in the FL (with a companion) leaving the mountain and at some point meeting ML again
- ML has mysterious (royal?) background
- characters travel around their world meeting friends / people from different countries/sects
- somehow getting into a treasure hunt for a "big secret" that is going to be revealed
- FL is getting stronger along the journey

LOFei did mention Fei being adopted at some point, but later this was not a topic anymore while the story resolved more about the ML background.
LOFuYao was the other way around.

It is a costume detective suspense romance drama, set in the Wanli years of the Ming Dynasty, telling the story of the beautiful man County Ling Panyue and the terrorist servant Yang Caiwei in the process of solving a strange case, from mutual disgust to mutual love and love.

Even though legend of fei is Chinese and descendants of the sun is korean, they still have a couple of similarities
1.the male leads both come close to death or die in a sense
2.the female lead isn't silly and is actually mature for once
3.both of them have very high rankings in my personal fav list ( descendants of the sun being 2nd fav in my korean list and legend of fei being 2nd in my Chinese list )
You shouldn't mind all the bad reviews as both the dramas are amazing in their own right

While MFMR is much lighter in tone and shorter than LoF, both MLs suffer from a "cold poison" and the FL is willing to go to great lengths to try to save him once she finds out. Also the plot involves trying to locate and put the pieces of a treasure together.

Although the main character is female I definitely recommend it because:
- It has Wang Yibo (that's a reason on its own)
- does contain cultivation and the main leads overcoming obstacles
- both Lu Ping and Zhou Fei are stubborn and a bit cold
- character development is *chefs kiss*

Same wuxia genre and a nicely thought-out plot progression where the resolution of one mystery/arc opens up the next mystery/problem to be solved arc. Suspense keeps driving the plot forward, but neither drama is overly intense.
Both have playful but intelligent male leads.
Romance is sweet but understated.
Be warned, JOL only resolves partially as a Season 2 was planned; LOF has a nice satisfying ending.

Similar genre, story involved with multiple sects and Wu Xia, romance, bromance, vengeance, martial arts competitions ...etc

Both are wuxia dramas with a strong-willed and determined FL who starts weak and gradually grows stronger and a playful ML who has a long, life-threatening illness and some sort of secret about his identity. At one point in both dramas, the ML attempts to leave the FL so she won't know about his health, but is stopped. Both dramas end happily.
