The episode starts with a 28-year-old woman Mitarai Yo frowning over turning 29. She is an independent, resolute and passionate woman who works in the top position as a Chief in a shoe shop company called Diana. She is often misunderstood at work because of her vocal and less friendly nature. A mature woman by ethics but a soft-hearted person from the core, she shares her grievances with her long-time best friend, Ishida Ren. They share her birthday together, and then Ishida makes a bet that if anyone between them can find a lover and marry before reaching thirty-one, then the one who does not find someone to marry has to pay the other party a sum of 300,000 yen on account of losing the bet. Yo agrees. Throughout the episode, instances of their high school are also seen, and it turns out that Ishida was charmed by Yo from the very start... (Source: AlopaJoyceZ at MyDramaList)

Their happiness whenever they're together literally radiates off the screen

Remakes and I have a bad history. I always ALWAYS end up comparing remakes with the original, and the more I love the original, the less I can stand their remakes. Considering In Time With You is one of my all-time faves, I was a little hesitant going in.

But I was pleasantly surprised from the get-go. I managed to glean a lot of the dynamics of their relationship from the opening theme itself, and I liked what I saw. I also appreciated some of the changes they made to the original storyline, which were pretty subtle, but thought were a nice touch nonetheless.

The fact that she desperately seeks out Ren whenever she has a thought on her mind, and resorts to leaving messages on his phone was SO CUTE. It's more 'direct' than Chen You Qing's inner conversations with Li Da Ren, because you actually see her pouring her heart out to him.

My favorite scene by far was her birthday dinner. While the leads in the original drama had a more mature relationship, our JP leads are adorable in their own right, with their infectious laughter and constant smiles in each others' presence. Unlike the originals' natural and lived-in relationship, our JP leads seem a tad shy around each other, which I may just attribute to Japanese politeness, or to the fact that these two don't see each other as friends 100% - which I think gives us a great base to build off of. Something tells me these two haven't completely cast the other off into the friendzone...

All in all, it was better than my expectations! I hope to fall in love with this for its own individual charm, because I definitely haven't minded the subtle changes from the original thus far.
