can you be in a relationship with someone out of pity even if you're unsure if they're trustworthy?

"You know what exactly wrong with this drama ? Connectivity. I find this drama really good and interesting. Even the characters are kinda good too. I like the chemistry between both couples. Even the secrets are fine but when you put everything in one place , i feel like those parts are not connected that well . Because of that, this drama is missing the depth. Its not the bad one but this drama is all over the place. Also there are so many loose ends! But i am going to complete this!!"//was it this episode or the previous one where they opened with the two leads hanging out together being completely happy after successfully reviving Chairman Hwang who collapsed with a heart attack? from that scene to how the scene opened in this episode there was no linking whatsoever. i thought she was still mad at him for being rejecting her at the same time being obsessive? alas, she found out later on that he pretended she was his fiance, so she left his side without telling him. and he thought she was gonna get back with her ex, but he finally found out that it was because of his own lies that sparked her anger, he tried to win her over by asking her to choose him because she understands his pain, even though she's still not sure if she can trust him, and to be his final goal instead so he won't be swayed by the wrong. she finally relented because she knew she already fell in love with him. i mean, that line was so beautiful. i don't think it has been expressed very well in other dramas that a person can choose to be with someone out of pity. even in The Smile Has Left Your Eyes, i remember the leads got together because they simply can't deny their feelings for each other. in this sense, i am saying this drama is adding me new perspective about love/relationships especially uniquely among people with deep trauma/brokenness issues. i mean, you're threading a thin line here, because if you are unlucky or foolishly let your guard down completely, you are in for a damning relationship with a whole manipulative narcissist. i am not sure how deep the trauma and trust issues can be somewhat 'resolved' in the remaining episodes, but i am really hooked. i wanna know where the story will take me.
