Somehow confusing beginning and thrilling ending

The episode begins in the past, people are fighting with each other with swords and arrows and it's somehow difficult to understand the first few minutes. You get the idea that it is about the Joseon period and about time travel, but nothing else, the context is difficult to understand. Forward in time in the year 2012, two of our protagonists are planning to get married. He is a national athlete and the woman is a doctor. Due to some tragic events, the athlete loses the ability to have a brilliant future and ends his relationship with his fiance. Seven years later in 2019, the sport is gone from the athlete's life and he struggles to support himself and his little sister through various jobs. In the present time, the male lead's old girlfriend is going to marry a handsome and successful man while he is working hard as a delivery man. But the ex-girlfriend's successful new man hides extremely dark secrets.
