Historical Beginning, Then Modern Romance

It starts off with a man with an evil look who kills the king. The king's son comes running in for his father and he is wounded by the evil man. The little boy sees a face running by and he takes this mysterious person's ID card (Kim Go Eun's). It states that she was born in 1990 and he has not seen her since. The little prince mourns for his father by kneeling. It is a bit confusing as there are people in both traditional attire as well as modern attire such as suits. I will need to search the summary online to fully understand this episode. We see that this little prince has grown up to be a handsome man who is played by Lee Minho. His eyes are brown and the brown really stands out. He is dressed in a beautiful outfit for horseback riding and he goes out to ride his white horse named Maximus.A very beautifully dressed woman in a red dress with a blazer over her shoulders is travelling to meet Lee Minho. She has black glasses on and at the airport she is scanned to check for illegal items. When the scanner goes over her chest, the scanner beeps and the security woman does a pat down. The beautiful woman states that wireless bras do not support her, implying she is wearing a wired bra which caused the beeping. An elderly woman is seen creeping past to the right with her assistant who is taking notes in a bedroom. She is laying red envelopes around the room, trying to bring good luck to Lee Minho. She turns around to find Lee Minho calmly sitting down and she is surprised. Lee Minho tells her he is meeting someone and he names a female's name. This elderly woman does not seem to like her too much. The elderly woman reminds Lee Minho once again that he should get married as the royal court is unstable and he needs to create an heir. Lee Minho says he is not interested and calmly dumps the red envelopes in the garbage. This beautiful woman takes off her glasses when she meets Lee Minho at the horseback riding place. She leans over to talk in Lee Minho's ear in a very graceful manner. Lee Minho is as equally seductive as he replies back into her ear.We see the character who is played by Kim Go Eun hit a man's car who is in the building in front of the parking lot. Kim Go Eun and a group of at least three other men are under cover to investigate. Kim Go Eun drives off to this suspect's anger. Kim Go Eun drives off to realize she recognizes that smell and she drives backwards all the way back. There is an attractive police officer who watches overhead with an earpiece that makes him look even hotter. This police officer asks Kim Go Eun why she is dressed in clothes that do not match. Kim Go Eun arrives at the scene and inside the trunk of the car there is a body. She calls on her radio that this investigation has been turned into a different type and the two men with this suspect run off. The police officers have the area covered however.Lee Minho is seen riding on his white horse down the street filled with cars. Kim Go Eun sees this and uses her speaker to call out this horseback riding man to stop at the side of the road. I like her voice and will keep this in mind for myself. Onlookers wonder if it is for a movie as he is so handsome. The views of the historical palace and the modern Korean structures are shown. It is stunning with the beautiful evening sky and all the city lights.Kim Go Eun approaches Lee Minho to have no reply from him. Lee Minho just stares as he gets off his horse as Kim Go Eun asks him to do so, flashing her ID card. She showed her ID card thinking it was because he did not know why he had to listen to her. Lee Minho pulls her into a hug which is VERY CUTE and such a beautiful scene.

An Introduction Into the Parallel World

I wrote this review after watching the first episode for the 5th time. Being a fan of western TV shows like The Flash, Arrow and others and being a fan of the whole Marvel universe as well, I am intrigued how Koreans particularly writer Kim Eun Sook perceives the parallel world. One has to brush up on a little bit of Korean history as well to know the difference and to appreciate what KES wants to depict in this tv show. The description "a sad love story in a parallel universe" intrigues me. A lot of people are suckers for sad love stories ! {SPOILERS ALERT***}The first scene shows that our FL (Kim Go Eun) and SL (Kim Kyung Nam) interview the said villain in this story. LL (Lee Jung Jin) is describing how this story started and the turn of events thereafter that makes up the whole momentum of this story. Apart from the intriguing events and the romance of our FL and ML (Lee Min Ho) and how the other supporting actors and actresses fits in the whole parallel realm makes this a worthwhile show to watch. I have been watching a lot of rom-coms and Kdrama and never have I been so intrigued in the plot and story that episode after episode makes you do your own research and to question your own understanding of the whole thing. This makes the show MORE intriguing to watch! It breaks the whole norm of knowing whats going to happen next thus making it MORE unpredictable...something that dramas are lacking of sometimes. I highly recommend this show to anyone who wants to challenge themselves while fully enjoying the whole journey altogether.

Overall, great drama!

It keeps your interest in the drama, until the very last episode. Great storyline, editing, and especially great acting from all the cast members. No dull moment. Good balance of humor and drama. Something I appreciate.

SO SO dramatic

This series hit me right between the eyes. Never expected to be watching such a good series. Very believable acting and very emotional. Got so much respect for the little king and goosebumps when he cut the mystical instrument in halve. The story really captured me and gripped my heart firmly

- Wow the king's security team sure was…

- Wow the king's security team sure was helpful /s
- I'm sorry but the child actors, especially the one playing Jo Young, were awful, it was almost comical how bad they were.
- In dramas they always exaggerate scars, damn that for sure didn't heal well lol
- The grandma is adorable tho
- Yep! no chemistry between the leads as of now... I ship her with Kim Kyung Nam more already...

Wasn't as bad as I was expecting...

I love it!

The thing of parallel worlds (and time travel) can be confusing for some people, apart from that, it's pretty good. I'm suspicious to talk because I'm a fan of LMH, KGE and WDH. What can I do? I loved the photography. Everything has an elegant and magical touch! I confess I have high expectations for the next episodes... let's see what happens.

The Narration

I must say, the start of the narration will be confusing. Stay though, for the first 15 minutes, just stay then you'll get what they're trying to build.I like the characters' introductions so far. I do not particularly enjoy the King's personality or buildup, but I like the camera works and the like. It's nice.I look forward to this series.

A bit messy

I'm sure story line will make sense eventually but can't oversee things like the child getting stabbed on his left side but bandage is on the right side... many weird production mistakes...
