FACE MAKER is a great story.

The ability to change your own face sounds pretty surreal, but I thought that was worth a shot. Each episode features a different person, living under different circumstances. Dr. Shun offers them the chance to try again with another life.

Despite having one story for each episode, there's something important that conect all of those people. I can't say what is it since we all hate spoilers, but as far as the chapters go on, perharps you can understand what's covered.

The story may sound a little absurd the whole time, but the show is great when we talk about characters' thinking and behavior. The OST is far ahead the intensity of the story.

After watching it, I can affirm: it's worth to take a shot. According to your point of view, you can extract what the show has to give.

Face Maker is a type of drama that contains many episodes, however each episode will have its own story and that story will end within one episode.

Face Maker is about a highly skilled surgeon who used to work for US Witness Protection Program. He opens his own plastic surgery clinic in Japan and he’s also known as the Face Maker in the black market. His job is to change the face of his client by substituting it with someone else’s face. It’s something like face exchanging, but it's NOT only face exchanging...

The clients are usually people who suffer or not satisfy with their lives, so they want to take on new faces with the hope to change their lives. There is no cost for face changing but you have to exchange your face in return. After the surgery, you can go on to live your new better(?) life.

The other role of the Face Maker is he will purposely go to see his previous client when his/her face is taken by another person. He will not tell the new client about the story of the face that he/she has chosen as the new face. The face can belong to anyone from a detective, mafia boss, teacher, to a serial killer.

The main message of this drama is even though you can change your appearance but you can never change who you are. You might look differently and live a different life, in the end, you are still you.

Why do these clients want to change their faces? The common reason is that they hate their lives. People are always seeking for a better life. They want better lives but they forget that they are the ones who shape their lives.

This story is so much more intriguing and intense than the synopsis gives it credit! Each episode is full of thrilling mysteries that build up into a very suspenseful and dramatic end. This is a very excellent show if you like Nagai Masaru!

However, each cast member has put their all into the episodes they participated in which has created a very spectacular show! The story itself is exceptionally unique and full of life in more ways than one. Each story shows the genuine, honest reality of life.

The entire show is full of suspense and mysterious thrills that keep the viewers on the edge of their seats. Each episode seems to tell its own story and end within that episode, although if you pay close attention then you can see how each story threads together to create a very exciting end!

I'll keep this review short for once, or rather I haven't much to say on the drama itself. It's an interesting concept but other than that, I found it somewhat dull. The individual stories per episode were at times intriguing but others not so much. Overall it felt as if the drama was merely jumping from one thing to the next, though I suppose that is a given considering the style and nature of this drama. Perhaps I'm being a tad too harsh and the fact that I didn't see the last ep till a year later (today to be exact whilst I'd actually seen the rest of the drama in 2012 possibly even late 2011), my opinion is likely to be rather muddled and not very accurate. My memory sucks on the best of days so trying to recall the rest of the episodes for this drama is near impossible for me! That in itself means my review isn't very fair or valid. Still, I do believe it's a good, short, light mystery drama to watch to pass the time, when you're going through that drama dry spell or are lost as to what to watch next.
