I have my own standards when it comes to the dramas I watch. First is looks, it might seem or sound inappropriate to judge a drama based on the looks of the cast specially the leads but it's just personal preference, whenever the leads are good looking I find myself drawn into the drama more, my emotions and empathy for the cast just "grows stronger" -somewhat feels like creating a bond with the casts and understanding their situations more. This drama definitely passed standards when it comes looks. The male lead is very handsome while the female lead is very adorable and stunning at the same time.
Second is how a character carries him/herself. There are some actors in some dramas that fail to carry their characters -in other words, they just look awkward and forced. However, I personally think that the casts played their parts well, they didn't look awkward while playing the childish side of a character and didn't feel far-stretched or forced while playing the intimidating side of their role. I want to praise the female lead's acting skills for delivering her role well but for some scenes when she was being playfully "threatened" by the male lead she did some excessive hand movements of placing her hands on her head or ears while acting nervous.
Third is the story-line. The male lead actually found out of the female lead's real identity towards the end of the whole drama, around 8 episodes before the final episode. I actually liked how the male lead was totally clueless for quite a long time, I found him to be really cute while being clueless. I think it has something to do with his handsome looks or how he carries his role but nonetheless I really enjoyed his acting.
Overall this is quite a satisfying drama to watch, I also liked how the ending went. I wouldn't really re-watch this drama since it's just one of those GOOD gender-bender dramas but I assure you that this drama will leave you with a happy heart and zero regrets of watching this drama.

Not really bad actually
I have to said that this drama did have a funny and cheesy acting but I'm okay with it since it is not very much and the story is quite interesting. Yeah it is a cross dressing drama with FL try to find the true about her family execution but what I enjoyed about this drama is the interaction between ML and FL. They both has a very cute and lovely charisma and that somehow carry the drama. And the drama did have many fun scene regarding the scene when FL try so hard to hid her identity as a girl while the boy has a hard time questioning his gender. There are better
To be fair, I started this show after I finished The Story of Ming Lan, which in my opinion is a must-watch MASTERPIECE, so that might be coloring my opinion slightly. But that’s still no excuse for the multiple writing fumbles present. I’ll keep it short.1. This is a standard “FL gets revenge for her family by pretending to be a doctor/maid/etc” storyline. This time Tian Qi is trained as a doctor. Except she rarely does any actual doctoring. There are a few cursory scenes where she grinds herbs to make poultices but that’s the extent of anything important she does with it. This job is how she integrates herself into the J mansion. She then proceeds to forget almost entirely about revenge for her family because she meets the ML. Which leads me to point 2…
2. The romance in this story is sloppy at best. The ML is self absorbed and rude to the FL and she falls for him anyway because he’s good looking and they have a tenuous childhood memory together. Which is a terrible reason to fall for someone. The FL has more chemistry with the 2nd ML, the ML’s younger brother. They actually get along and have things in common and they both seem to prefer each other’s company more than she enjoys the ML’s. The entire plot line at the end seemed like they realized they wrote a relationship fumble and came up with the most asinine plot line to try to fix it by making the 2nd ML seem like a villain from out of nowhere.
3. This show is low budget. I won’t judge any set or acting decisions based purely on that. I’ve watched many low budget shows and movies that were wonderful. However, unlike this show, they didn’t write entire subplots around their sponsors like this show did. Word of Honor advertised it’s nuts sponsor at comedic times and did so in an uninvasive way that fulfilled their contractual obligations and made sense. This show devoted an entire episode to Tian Qi making a face mask (the sponsor) and gets in trouble when it causes “rashes” and she has to be rescued by the ML for it. The sponsor should NEVER EVER be any part of the plot of a show. It’s tacky and smacks of bad writing, which this show already has in abundance.
I won’t say it’s good, but if you need something mind numbing to sit through after watching better, more complex shows, this one is… fair. But there are better options.

Not bad at all. Let me explain
Enjoyable, humorous and thank goodness for the ending the way that I wanted.You know when I watched this drama, I do think there were some problems with the directing and the acting of Main Leads.... It was giving B-list director that directed the drama. But I persevered and I think they did good job until the end. Myb decent job in the middle of the drama.
Male Lead, General Ji Heng, a strict, smart and meticulous man. He also very loyal to his family and his one true love. He would do anything for Zhao'er and ofc protective of her. He loved her so much.
(Hah! I know you fking lied when you said you could never like a man coz I know she made you wavered!!)
Female Lead, Tian Qi or Shen Zhao'er, a doctor that disguised as a man to search for the man who killed her parent. She was very skilled in her field but I do find her to be very silly at certain times. Such a smooth talker (in a bad way to me) that I just like, "can u rlly believe what was she saying?)". She was not that bright in other things and that was fine I guess. Magnet for trouble. Hmm I never criticised FL this much. She didn't rlly trust him, and luckily the ML just accepted it and didn't mind that she kept secrets from him. As for her love to ML, she cared about his health I guess, at least she cared enough that she didn't want him to die. Idk but yeah she did love him.
Shoutout to my man, 2ndML, Ji Zheng (I adore you sm). He was my kind of 2ndML, the one who loved FL, protected her and knew to wave a white flag coz he knew her heart belong to other.
I really love the OSTs for this drama especially the one that was sang by a woman and after this I will try and search for it. It just sounds very delicate to me.
I really want to give it 8.5 stars bcs the ending was really what I wanted but umm.. yeah I can't look past some of the problems. But good job to the writers for this ending.

Another Cross Dressing Drama
Going into this with an open mind and an 8-month hiatus from watching any Asian Dramas I will say that my rating is due to a high tolerance level for nonsense. Here we have another story of a leading lady that starts off quirky and lovable before making all the wrong decisions and having no backbone or purpose.Plot:
There are plenty of cute moments in this series...however, this is not a plot focused drama unless you call "finding out the moment when he learns that 'he' is actually a 'she'" a plot. Of course, that point alone takes 2/3rd of the series before the male lead has his AHHA moment.
The mystery behind the villain is obvious and the big reveal was so underwhelming that not only do I deserve a refund, I need free tickets to future admissions.
Cast:
This was a young cast and therefore there is not much to say here except there is room for improvement.
Music: It could be better, nothing too catchy.
Costumes/ artifacts: Many repeated outfits, but not too cheap looking. Weapons this not look fake (that is my pet peeve)
Pacing
There were plenty of disjointed moments and I will have to give the credit for the mess up to the editor... seems like they were aiming for something and missed by several miles.
Overall: I would give this a watch but don't expect anything compelling...you may get a few chuckles here or there and if you are into angst and drawn-out points...this one will be for you!

Very beautifully executed the drama ,having some funny elements not harsh scene and not shown harsh punishment generally which is shown in the other historical drama . But one thing at last part of the drama, he worked as an employee under hers aunt business so as a high post how he dared to do such work no high official opposed him .,what I had seen in other historical drama that though as a king or at some high post sometime they have to do such work which is not their wish as well as they are not allowed to act carelessly . So this part I felt that they should shown some other type of scene to pursued her by him..Sweet drama ,go smoothly not stretch much ,ending is perfect. I like watching it .

the best drama
all the entire episodes of the drama are simply a moment of pleasure for me . Thank you from all my heart for this romance, especially this comedy , this full of emotions;the actor is perfect, handsome, rough, he presents the conflictual emotion within all the episodes as a general and a human being person , rough and tender, confess and run away, confused and different, but he didn't admit it ,
the actress is unbeleavable, the favourite for me, very very good actress, very emotive women with the exact emotion an reaction through scenes.
the plot is amazing . laughing till the last moment, the last episode is amazing, much suspense, you are leaving with them their romance ver slowly and in smoothing and estonishing way . Really really enjoyed it.

The story: This is definitely your typical Chinese historical romance plot of sorrow, revenge, romance, family, love triangles, and bad guys. If you're familiar with stories such as The Princess Weiyoung, The Legend of Yunxi, and The Legend of Fuyao, then this is pretty much the same kinda plot. Although the storyline in great, there really isn't something too special about it. However, it's well done and i'd say almost at the level of all of my favourite historical dramas. If you're a romantic historical drama lover, then this is the drama for you, but if you're looking for something new, then I'd suggest you find a different show. The organization of when things happened and the amount of time things took could be much improved (you'll understand what I mean once you watch it). There were two episodes that were way too rushed and they honestly kinda ruined it for me, but they were still super cute.
Acting: The actors were generally great and super cute! This is the first time I see any of the leads in a drama, and I absolutely adore them. There were a few scenes where I was like "oh come on! they should've redone that scene" and I don't think any of the kiss scenes were real, which pissed me off. That being said, I would say that the acting was for sure great and they did a pretty good job overall.
Music: The music was amazing! I loved the music and it matched perfectly with the scenes. However, I'm not sure if this was from the youtube editing or from the original editing, but there were a few scenes where the audio was separated from the background music. Because of that, there were twi songs playing at once and the audio was not clear.
Overall: Apart from the kinda rushed happy ending, the frustration with the amount of time it took for the male lead to know that she's a girl, and the rushed part where he told her that he knew, I'd definitely recommend this drama as it has great lessons and keeps you engaged and addicted. It's been a while since I've been this addicted to a drama and that alone proved how great it is. I loved the story, acting, and the costumes.

Love ML. Love Story!
First time I’m moved to write feedback on a beautiful Chinese drama:1. I find the storyline very realistic. FL was not infused with superpowers to exact her revenge. She naturally dreamed of revenge but her position did not allow her leeway to go after the bad guys. But when opportunity presents, she did get justice from each villain that is believable.
2. ML is total eye-candy. His facial nuances and expressions are pure joy to watch, and so funny. Growing up in such an important but loveless household, he would have learned to check his emotions under tight control so as not to show vulnerability. Now there was this FL that both exasperated and delighted him, his myriad of expressions may look constipated, but really just in line with his story character. On such a handsome face is really the best reason why I wish this series never ends.
3. People judge his actions in modern age, when he is deemed to be brutish to FL. But such was his lofty position that any small offense must be meted with punishment. Yet many times, he didn’t punish as his era dictated, which shows he was not as heartless. Also, understand that that period was master-slave dynamic, not employer-employee, so one must not expect same standards and find him wanting. It is awful to hear some say that girls love to be abused. They have rare and real connection, nothing to do with being abused. 2ML is always so courteous, so it may not give a deeper sense of connection to FL.
4. ML was expected to see through FL’’s disguise which would have been wrong. If 2ML did not first see FL in female attire, even he would never have guessed. In that era, there were only 2 distinct appearance: male and female (unlike modern generation). So when someone presents himself in a male attire, nobody is expected to see differently. And that was the beauty of this story. I don’t know why people are annoyed that it took ML forever to find out about the disguise. It is exactly that reason why it was a delight to watch him struggle against his growing attraction to someone forbidden, and their daily comical interaction. Had her identity been revealed sooner, then the story would have ended sooner. Where would the rest of the fun be? I wish there were more than 28 episodes. Storyline is beautiful.
5. Once FL is known to be female, the story took a serious note, which is also to be expected. The focus is no longer on fooling ML, but on vengeance. Which made me sad because I really loved the lightness of this story. But FL changes from lighthearted to serious, which is also in line with events and makes perfect sense. I find FL growing on me, serious becomes her more. She struck me as not as good in acting when the she was being frivolous. But when she turned serious, I find her acting is excellent too.
6. I think the mom’s punishment is appropriate. She wasn’t really evil, just a foolish woman that was easily manipulated by her evil servant. After all, she never really ordered for FL’s parents to be murdered, just exiled. She suffered when she thought her son was dying. She was truly remorseful. And I love that the son took the punishment for his mom, so as to also appease the hatred in FL’s heart, and also fulfilled his filial duty. She did get her punishment by exchanging a life in the lap of luxury to a life as a nun and praying for the dead as atonement. It will not do if the son jails his mom or allows anybody to kill his mom. Very fitting punishment in the end.
7. The unfolding of events is nicely paced. Truly beautiful story with beautiful acting! Definitely worth watching again whenever I’m in a mood for something light and sweet. Almost always.
8. One of the best and sweetest happy endings. I like that there’s good closure and finality, not rushed just because the villains are all gone. I especially love that there’s even a good laugh after their night. Don’t know why, whenever they’re in the market, I just wished they’d introduce themselves to the painter to correct the bad photos of the general. But nah no big deal.
9. Someone mentioned the book was originally king and eunuch. Sounds like an even better plot. I will definitely read the book next!

Funny, refreshing and happy ending
Are you looking for a love story with many situations comedy ? This drama is for you !How refreshing and nice to watch a comedy where a girl who wants to avenge her parents murder enter the Ji mansion dressed in man, falls for the handsome and cold general and behaves so foolishly !
Many interesting points are developped all way through and you cannot help from laughing at so many happenings ! The general is actually falling in love with this girlishlike doctor and it's really funny to watch the actings ! Furthermore, this general is not supposed to show any interest in girls but gossips are growing .... is this general a gay ? That's what we are supposed to think too !
I really love the screenplay and the actors. No time to get bored till ep 20. Things are less funny afterwards because the plot focuses on different people revenges or bad actions and Dr cutie is now acknowledged to be a girl.... things become darker.... But we'll get a happy ending and that is what we want.
One more line for the actors : Sun Qian is so good when playing comic and witty roles....Huang Jun Jie is really sexy with his long black hair wig and when wearing ancient dressing gowns !
If you want to have a good time, you can watch this !

This drama is under rated...love the story and the romance between leads and the hilarious scenes...The only thing is that..i was wondering about the mastermind of the killings...he wears hood..i think he doesn't need to wear that
since he is really insignificant.. but anyway i kept me guessing til episode 24 hahaahhahaha
All the while i thought it's the younger brother hahaha...instead it's his friend...so stupid...
And ning er is as stupid as the killer...likes his cousin that he drugged him...
Well all in all is.. it's a good drama to watch...i want similar dramas like this bit happy ending...no stress to watch...hahahaha

Despite what people said i watched this drama. and i have some stuff to say1. THE PLOT wtf. tian qi its just bad she is quirky and girly and to take revenge she dresses up as a man in general ji house?
2. It was so cringe with him not getting "he" is a girl even tho his brother know
3. do not watch unless you like these kind of drams
4. the ending was just confusing. after episode 18 it start getting really weird and i had trouble getting the plot
5. i was rooting for another guy but he ended up with HIM!?!?!??
