It's a Rom-Com

If I am being totally honest. I think this drama is to put you in a good mood. It's just for laughs. The reason why I say this is because the plot seems to be all over the place (in my opinion), but that still didn't stop me from watching this drama. The plot is basically about Kumarika and how she became a new teacher at Nopphakhun's school. Nopphakhun is actually flirting with her and he basically just looks out for her and stuff. Kumarika also has two really over protective brothers and they don't like how Nopphakhun is flirting on their sister. The genre is a romantic comedy so that is what you should expect. There isn't really isn't major drama.

I love the cast. Maybe it is because I knew everyone that I loved the casting. And it is nice to see June playing a nice and caring role instead of a mean one. This role suits her more in my opinion.

Again, I feel like this drama won't be for everyone, but it is a nice feel good drama if you want to take a break from a heavy dramatic one. Overall I'd probably give it a 7.5/10.

OTT on speed, such fun!

Try this series only if you are willing to give yourself over to trying a modern Thai Cinderella story with deliberately exaggerated everything, from acting to gestures. There are two evil other women. Two brothers (aka Beavis and Butthead, my favourites) that aren't evil but still try to break up the H&h. And of course family drama and a prince charming.
So why did I like it so much? Because it's all done with a bit of a wink and doesn't take itself too seriously. And its good old slapstick at its best. If there was a category for choreography I'd give this one a 10, because every time the h falls and the H caches her the cinematography of it keeps getting better. Yes, it's that kind of a show...
They did an excellent job with the wardrobe, you can know the characters just from how they dress: good Cinderella with her pastels and lace vs. The wicked Witch with her harsh power suits, mostly in black. Plus the cute music is great.
My only complaint, and maybe it's a given in Thai shows, is that it drags a bit in the middle and could have been two episodes shorter.

An average rom-com but nice for one viewing

I was looking forward to "Mr. Lipstick" since Aom starred in it and I loved her in "Girl2K" (which you should definitely watch). The first few episodes were really nice and fluffy, but as a fellow reviewer said the plot went "all over the place" from there. It seems the writers weren't really sure who they wanted to be the villain and the supporting cast motivations were just inconsistent. That being said, I still liked all the characters though probably because there were a lot of familiar faces (Aom, Fiat, Nicky, Vince, Jan, June).

The drama's greatest strength was the main couple, Mod and Kao. They were so adorably innocent together. Their wasn't much skinship so I wouldn't recommend to those who liked more "mature" dramas. I also enjoyed the secondary couples Muek&Pipi, Than&Dao, and Tul&Wi. I wish their was more plot dedicated to them, especially Muek and Pipi. Their interactions were so funny! Now onto the villains, Wi and Kaew. I thought Kaew was written slightly better, though her motivations for disliking Mod were stupid. As for Wi, her storyline towards the end was ridiculous and her motivations flimsy.

Overall, I recommend to those who enjoy a light, fluffy rom-com. I really felt relaxed while watching, even with all the drama and the shenanigans of Mod's brothers lol. I'm not sure I'll rewatch but I'm happy I watched it once. Also, I loved the theme song. It's "Love Score" by Sizzy and Nanon; definitely check out the video on YouTube.

Light, fluffy rom-com with a super adorable couple

Even though waiting for the English subs is somewhat torturous with no regular schedule, I still enjoy this show enough to wait for the upcoming episodes and their subbing. At least, GMMTV makes the dramas available to international viewers via YouTube, and I appreciate that.

Mr. Lipstick is not like the typical Lakorns; It is lighter, shorter with fewer annoying characters. It is also a lot more fluffy with not much of a storyline other than the primary romance and some side villain plotting. That said, many of the cliches and elements that make a lakorn are very much in use here. For example, dramatic background music and sound effects that I would only accept in Thai lakorns, two irritating nang rais (one schemingly vindictive and the other stupidly loud), and a petty older relative that holds grudges like nobody's business. If you expect a thought-provoking plot with character development and a brilliant script, Mr. Lipstick is not it. However, it's truly a sweet rom-com. Also, I have to give credit to the Thais for knowing how to use situational comedy, slapstick humor, fitting sound effects, and witty dialogue (as much as I can trust the subtitles) to tickle one's funny bone.

For comedic relief, the show includes two over-protective brothers of the nang'ek, and I must say that I find those two plus her parents endearing. Contrary to the p'ek's older sister, the petty unreasonable elder, we have a warm, lovely family on the nang'ek side. The whole family is good-looking! I also like how the show features Thai desserts - the way they are highlighted makes me try them all!

The biggest attraction of this show is, of course, the lead couple. Aom Sushar as Mod and Pae Arak as Kao are adorable together. They have good chemistry and look good as a couple - I love the height difference, but then again, that's one of Aom's charms - she is so petite and lovely. I also like her voice. Unlike Chienese dramas that use dubbed voices, I like that the Thai shows use the actors' real voices. Mod is a terrific FL whose physical appearance belies how tough and plucky her character is. It's great that she prioritizes her self-development over love, and the ML is equally amazing in allowing Mod time and room for her to grow into her own person. Kao is confident in himself and their relationship.

I like Pae's hairstyle here, but he looked great in "oh My Ghost' too with a cleaner cut. I really like Khun Kao - he's a wholesome male lead who knows how to draw the line clearly and not mislead the interfering nang rais. He respects his sister but is matured enough to acknowledge his feelings and stand his ground. Even though he is slightly narcissistic, he is so sweet with Mod. There's lots of accidental skinship (yes, "mostly the trip and fall into his arms" and the "oops, I turned my face and my lips accidentally found his" kind), but since these two are so cute together, these scenes only heighten the sweetness factor for me. Honestly, I think they could have done better showing Kao's growing attraction for Mod. The show explained why Mod already has a crush on Kao, but it is not clear to me when and what is the turning point for Kao falling for Mod. I also want to know what exactly happened between Tul and Wi. I do think that the whole love triangle between Tharn, Dao, and Teacher Mod is unnecessary. Still, I forgive this show for all its plot holes and flaws since I already expected it as a lightweight Lakorn, kind of like a web series that is typically too short for good character or story development.

Other things that I find most satisfying is: 1) how Tul is always one step ahead of Wirarong and manages to sabotage most of her evil schemes, and 2) seeing Wirarong's frustrations when she fails to get what she ultimately wants. I love it when the nang rai fails!

Music-wise, I really like the featured songs like the one by Aye Sarunchana:
Meua Rai Ja Tueng Jai Tur (Far away) (OST. Tam Ruk)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuJsPyXPeng

The opening song is super catchy and reflects the positive and fun tone present through most episodes.
Plain Ka Nan Pen Fan Dai Mai (LOVE SCORE) by Sizzy and Nanon
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ds5B9jzk1A

I also like the instrumental pieces that underscore the sweet and romantic scenes with our endearing main couple.

Rewatch value is so so; I will probably watch the cute Kao and Mod moments while browsing through YouTube.

Overall, this is a sweet series that I would recommend for passing the time while waiting for your main show episodes to air or for a quick watch when you are in the mood for some romance with just a tiny bit of angst.

Moral of the Story: You can't force someone to love you

If you are rom-com fan you ill like it. One of the best things about the story was the romance between the lead couple started the process of falling in love from the first few episodes onwards & was quite firm about it, esp. the male lead inspite of initial opposition from his aunt, he continued his relationship with the female lead- no unnecessary breakups, hardships were faced together as a couple. Its great how the main lead stood up the female lead during her challenging times and vice versa. Although throughout the drama there are couple of women who are mean and intolerable - one of them continues to be so until the very end. There was positive character development on part of the female lead, who wanted to establish herself before saying yes to marriage- I liked it. The OST was catchy too. It was good to see a happy family (& loving parents) being portrayed.

Acting: I think actors main cast & support cast did a great job.

I wish they had introduced a good girl to the second lead (main leads loyal best friend). Romance portion between main leads could have been more...there were few kisses here and there. Some support characters could have been developed further.

Okay, just because of the cast, I do admit I kept putting this one off. Be it "un-ageing" 33-year old "girlie" Aom Sushar or Mr. Weird Hairdo Pae Arak, let alone both of them together. But, eventually the time has come I put that aside, concentrated solely on the romance, whether it will be enjoyable. If yes, I'll forgive ANY cast. Is it enjoyable, then?? I am, and I am not, easy to please...

Okay, first episode, I was still willing to accept it. Episode 2, things got more irritating (the side-cast really "outdid" themselves) than funny (fecal "humour" comes in literally as dog poop) PLUS main heroine keeps getting uncomfortably close (mostly unwillingly hugging him) to Pae Arak, who is really not a looker. Aom Sushar looks only the more ridiculous surrounded by all the clowns and idiotic situations. By episode 3, I already established that the choice here was either to try and suffer through all the "hilarious" antics of all the numerous b-grade side "actors" (with the honorable exception of Namfon Sueangsuda, but what use is having her here?), or try to skip through it, only to feast my eyes on Pae Arak's glistening hair. As for the "story", I would understand if the teacher would not wish to work in such school. From my point of view, it could end after 2 episodes already.

After mere 3 episodes, I had enough of this.
(Actually way sooner than episode 3 ended.)

Light, soft rom-com easy to watch

To watch as pure light & fun entertainment because the only message of this drama is "love can overcome everything, but cannot be forced".

The story tells the romance between a noble CEO & an intern teacher, pastry chef in the making. Their love is going to be thwarted by status differences, various love triangles, etc.

1/ The actors are good and the CL is endearing despite their Mary Sue & Gary Stu sides.
2/ You have to accept the overplayed side of certain characters (it's typical of lakorns to accentuate the humor aspect).
3/ the narration is quite dynamic
4/ the tone is light (no blood, no murder, etc.). The wicked are punished or repent :)
5/ For once, we don't have a permanent and/or excessive musical background (often in the lakorns) disturbing the emotions.

Recommended if you want a light, fun series, without "headache".
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
