Beginners! Episode 7

ryuzaki’s funny af ，i need to verify if she smiled at fujigaya in the first episode or not bwcause literally ever since that day she just stares at everypony jaded as hell unless you’re a child gfbkofdfoobkmodf it feels like she’s passed the baton to sakuraba for this second half of the show though whcih i find really odd right now. i don’t necessarily feel like she’s wrapped up her role in the story but now she’s just so uninvolved now. i could see this going somewhere though but I’ll return to this if her absence really affects the other episodes or if they finish with her wimpering out on the end like now ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆　　 ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆ kitayama’s injuryt was so effective. many times you have main+character plot±armour immunity where like ，specifically you disbelieve there’s any way the situation won’t end up successful. this has happened a lot earlier where especially authority sweeps in & keeps them all in class or in the same class. but here i genuinely did not hacve a confident assumption for how this would go. ikt was cute though. i liek seeing them cheer & be there for each other. i enjoyed this episode it was idealic in a goods way. i was happy ，they sold that joy to me. this was also like a Really good romance episode my god. perfectly written for where they’re at & also where they’d want to be ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆　　 ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆ fujigaya was also at his performing best in this episode. seeing his smile in a far+shot beaming at his friends & just the genki way he throws his arms up in celebration ，i love him immediately running to hug somepony ，it felt so organic for it tob e the first person he saw instead of a relevant character specifically ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆　　 ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆ speaking of which sugiyama had a great episode. i think this is all his character really needs it feels like he truly got to prove himself here. ik really do stand by this being one of my favorite ensemble writings.

Motivating and Cute at the Same Time

Episode 7 of Beginners!, like its predecessors, gives that motivating feeling--the one that makes you want to get off your butt and do something to change your own life.

Here, we see the less athletically talented members of the "S" class do this very thing, and it makes their success that much sweeter.

We aren't lacking in cuteness either. The awkward glances between Shimura and Momoe portray that puppy-love like feeling despite the overall theme of not giving up. I wonder how much more awkward it might become because of Nijima's confession!

Lastly, this episode touched on something that I felt was covered in earlier episodes but examined less in the last couple--the relationship of the Director to Shimura's father's situation. We know Sakuraba was Shimura's student, and that Sakuraba knows something concerning the director. Despite the lack of dialogue, the Director's creepy smile at the end told a lot. I have a feeling that he's the real culprit--but what was his motive?
