A Country Girl (1958)

Jang Gyeong Ho visits fellow student Kim Dong Hwan's hometown, and falls in love with his sister, Kim Ok Gyeong. Despite Dong Hwan's objections, Ok Gyeong follows Gyeong Ho to Seoul. With his help she finds a job at Dong Il where she works as a secretary for the president, Mr. Oh. Having passed the Higher Civil Service Examination, Gyeong Ho gets married to Ok Gyeong. But his mother, Mrs. Yun and his sister, Myeong Hee abuse Ok Gyoeng, because she comes from the countryside. They instead treat Park Jeong Ok, a friend of Myeong Hee, as family. While Gyeong Ho is working abroad, Mrs. Yun and Myeong Hee make up a story that Ok Gyeong had sneaked a man into the house, and kick her out. Rejected by her brother, Ok Gyeong lives alone working as a kindergarten teacher. Years later she meets her son Young Cheol.
