Basic story, but memorable scenes
I'm writing this straight from the premiere. I didn't have many expectations for this movie, as the plot seemed (and really was) very basic and simple, but I really enjoyed it!it's very well executed, with a beautiful cinematography, great writing & very impactful scenes that make the movie stand out a lot more despite its simplicity. there is a lot of soul behind this movie, which is something that is not always present & changes everything.
the acting was very good, and the chemistry between nanon & film truly beautiful. nanon especially really shined in this role that got him to embody a bunch of different emotions & expressions. the scene where they share a bed & nanon is all shy is truly THE CUTEST EVER, I was smiling the whole time bc it truly put an adorable twist to an otherwise basic scene we've seen many times before.
the characters were all great, and even the side characters who didn't get much character development stood out with their unique descriptions (ohm with his constant boner, neo the scratcher of balls & ass, chimon the annoying one, & euro with his ridiculous bike compared to the other guy's motorbikes.) it all created a very believable friend group, and the friendship was definitely one of my favorite aspects of the movie.
this movie is so fun, and I laughed a whole lot. obviously the two most notable scenes that I have no doubt will be all over twitter once the movie leaks online, is first nanon's whole ass appearing in the movie (ballsy!), and nanon full on making out with fluke pusit, throwing him on a table and straddling him, before neo does the same after him. I don't think I'm ever getting over that scene, and the whole audience lost their shit in that moment, how fucking random, and if you're a gmmtv fan it just makes this moment even funnier.
now for what I didn't love... the ending kinda disappointed me. I was not adverse to a sad ending, but for me it felt way too forced & didn't make much sense with the personalities of the characters, who have been very obvious they like each other since pretty much the beginning & have put a lot of effort into their relationship. for them to give up after one dumb fight felt too forced, even though I know with the showing of an alternate universe where they get back together, that was the point, I guess I just don't agree lol.
moreover, it's still a very basic story, so even without the last 30 minutes of the movie losing me a little bit, this could've never been my all time favorite thai movie for this reason. but the level of great execution from gmmtv on this is giving me hope that if they adapt original scripts, they'll do great. it's an exciting start for the movie-making side of their business!

A great surprise
Sometimes movies and tv shows are a case of the “whole is not greater than the sum of its parts”. A great cast with a not so great story and bland characters won’t shine. My Precious is thankfully not like that. I came into the movie thinking it would be a lighthearted first love story with a cast of young actors I already knew and liked. I started it aware that Tong and Lin would not end up together, so I was not hoping for the happily ever after. That might have contributed to the fact that, for me, My Precious was such a positive surprise. The story might not be groundbreaking, but I enjoyed the full 2 hours and the cast was fantastic. Was this review helpful to you?

A bittersweet ending but it was worth it.
The reason for giving it an 8,5 to the story was because I felt they cut many important scenes, that's why I'm so excited for the series version, I'm sure it'll give us what was missing. It's a good movie about first loves and childhood friendship, they had their flaws but were always there for each other.
I like how they mentioned about them in another universe, they were soulmates but lacked communication, we could see how a little action could've changed how everything ended, if Tong had come back that rainy night, they would've been the ones getting married.
PD: a tiny part of me wants a different ending in the series, but I would accept the same ending either way.

Made me nostalgic of an era I didn't even live through
This movie had beautiful Y2K aesthetics and amazing acting from the main cast. The dialogue was laugh out loud funny at times and Film is a stand out actress for her emotional scenes in this. Quite literally the only thing that stopped me from fully enjoying it was how badly the boys got on my nerves. If anything, it's a testament how amazing the actors are. Should this have taken 3 years to film? No. Should it have been 2+ hours long? Also no. I don't have an ending to this review..............Was this review helpful to you?

Basic premise that had promise but did not deliver
Entering this movie with low expectations, especially since it looks like it's geared towards a younger audience. However, I will write this review only as an observation of the entire thing based on someone who generally likes coming of age, young love and all type of romance.Let's start with the pros.
* The acting of the cast is decent enough to carry the movie. It helps that these actors have a friendship in real life because it shows that there is a closeness among them. There is a fair share of shenanigans that would have fallen short had the cast not been as talented as they are. A very good plus.
* The score. The music aptly fits the entire movie and it's both moving and sentimental. Something that you definitely feel when it comes to first love.
And unfortunately, that's the most highlight you can get from this story.
Everything else is wishy washy and sometimes feel half baked.
Let's get into it.
* They have a group of friends, who-- apart from their share of shenanigans have nothing that indicates there is a deeper relationship among them. Which, if there was no intention on touching up on this, should not have had a large group in the first place.
*Liking Lin. I know it's a trope to have a group of guy friends like a single girl who supposedly has all these ideal traits. Lin is not just some girl-- at least to the eye of this friendship group. But apart from that, I see no reason why they would fight over this girl when they really aren't doing anything to show their affection. Especially when a lot of the montage of the movie shares more on Tong's feelings and these friends play along--giving the impression that they all support Tong.
*Speaking of friends, I especially disliked the part where Tong and Lin cool it off and these friends jump at the chance to be with her. One had the gall to cry to Tong while the other asked Lin out. I know they are "close" friends but there was not enough in the movie to substantiate how they are close at all.
*Lack of anything else really. If maybe we solely focus on Tong and Lin it's cool, but a story only makes better sense if everything else is used properly. Like none of the other friends had personalities or story lines that make you care for them.
I could go on and on about those parts but at the end of the day, when you introduce a story about a friendship group and a girl, you expect the friendship group to feel like a friendship group and the girl to have more interactions with said friendship group beyond shenanigans. Apart from that, you expect that the coming of age part where they all graduate and go to the next chapter to feel more relatable.
I do commend the ending. The parallel universe and the acceptance that not everything lasts forever. But other events could have been executed better and the story could have been told with more depth. In any case, all kudos goes to the cast for making this movie a bit more engaging despite the story that they were given.

Sadly nothing new
Sadly I have to say nothing new same old story, but I have to say the acting was bad and a strong pass. I am thankful it's not BL, because it's just lacking chemistry and no development. A let down on acting and storyline. At times it did not even make sense. This was not greatly put together and felt like it was just something to do. Some of the actors are good, but boring and lack a lot in not being interesting. I found my self fast forwarding just to get to the end. It kind of fault see it and done it so move on.Was this review helpful to you?
