A BLOODY ROMANCE
Officially China's first LEGIT BL series since the airing of WORD OF HONOUR and KILLER AMD HEALER back in 2021, JUSTICE IN THE DARK brings a whole new trope on the Stage.Luo Wei Zhao is a hot headed officer whose always up and about trying to seek justice on one hand and Pei Su, his fellow main lead being a victim of past trauma is a reserved person which gets the story very interesting because of many reasons.
To begin with, there's one of these three things that I like the most in any bl theme drama, a cute age Gap between the main male leads, the fact that the leads are polar opposites and the thought that if it's not an office set up it's a police plot.
Putting all that aside you'll definitely enjoy the melodrama within the series as first and foremost every event has a way in which it takes an unexpected turn which makes the drama at least for me highly unpredictable which curiosity keeps me propelled to keep watching as I don't find the show boring.
Secondly, I admire the fact that the chemistry of the main couple is very intense as they each probably have a way of keeping their thoughts concealed from one another but somehow it feels like their psychic connection has a way it pulls out their innermost feelings and portrays them even in their silence.
The most important thing however is the fact that this plot feels slightly more original than that in many other bl dramas since it has some elements of sci-fi esque and every emotion feels so real while the pacing is on point and the character design and development will get you hooked immediately as every character in the tale is given enough attention and in a way, we still keep our lead couple at the forefront and don't end up losing them into the story.
Silent reading being a new drama trope has got me swoon over as there are moments that you're gonna just cry because the tragic and sombre moments have a way that they make you witness the love between our lead couple that stands the true test of painful time.

It's something you'll remember for the rest of your life
Set in a fictional time where 1.3% of population are genetically mutated apaths. Justice In the Dark dives in the world of the psychology or criminals and the motive of their crimes. Are they criminal cause they are born apaths or is it choice?? The cofusion between what is right and what is wrong, duty, human's true nature... It's a total packed psychology thrillerWhy you should watch this drama??
-Top notch plot. It's not something you'll sit back and watch. It will make sure you're using your 100% braincell and question every moral know
-U like psychological thriller?? then it's perfect for you. you like crime? action? parental abuse? deception? murder? betrayal? plot twist that makes you think why am I doing this to myself? Then you have come to the right place
-maybe you just want to see some pretty face...well we also have that
Acting: Let's talk about pei su. as someone who has already read the novel zhang xingcheng embodied the role of fei du and gave it life. Most of the time book readers are never satisfied with live adaptation but you'll never catch someone telling that the potrayal of fei du (pei su in the drama) was anything less than perfection. And if I start to write about how damn pretty this guys looked while suffering this review wil not end.
From luo wenzhuo to tao ran to lao qiao toevery small actor portrayed the anguish, pain, fear, confusion so beautifully that you'll wonder damn china can really make some good sht
And do I need to talk about the songs?? those lyrics stabbed my hearts too much that I will cry everytime when I listenTT
This drama is adapted from silent reading also known as mo du by preist. This is peak of drama. If it wasn't censored then it would've broken every record possible. It's a kind of show that you watch and know that it's gonna be with you for a long long time

What I thought of the series: I started watching this series when it was released. I was hooked right away and thought 8 episodes were too few and hoped there would be a season 2. I didn't know they had canceled the series. So when I saw that there had been so many new episodes, I was surprised. It has taken me a while to watch all the episodes and I still like the series very much. So I'm glad I continued watching the series. You can find more of my reviews on Instagram. :D See my homepage about my Instagram account. Some of my reviews are under five hundred words so I can't post them here. (*^▽^)/★*☆♪(*^-゜)vThanks!

Best psychological thriller that I have watched in a while
I am so happy I gave this drama a chance because I would have been poor losing this BIG gem otherwise. And thank GOD I decided to watch it in December last year and not when this streamed back in 2023 because I would have been so stressed by the long hiatus and the unknown as to if this will ever be picked up again. Hate to have things unfinished. The concept of the story was really appealing and I think it delivered its promised genre very masterfully—there were no dull moments. As a sucker for the thriller/crime-solving genre, I was engaged all 30 episodes. It was so fun to watch and guess. And although I could already guess who the last boss was by halfway through, the reason was still unknown and keep me wondering why he was sacrificing so many innocent lives.
The acting of the casts—from the leads to the supporting roles—were decent and believable. They portrayed their characters so well that it felt like they gave life to the characters from the novel. This was my first drama of everyone and I think I have become a fan of Zhang Xincheng. He portrayed the zero apath Pei Su so well, like how he expressed his inner thoughts just by the shift of his eyes, those minor changes that screamed so loudly. I am already looking through his list of dramas and already anticipating his new drama “Southern Anecdote”. Fu Xinbo quickly grew on me too, liked his portrayal of Luo Wei Zhao. Wish to see more of him in leading roles.
The osts were great, I liked every song. They also brought depth to the story that the characters couldn’t say out loud.
Rewatch value? Well, 10 of course! Although they have cut so many scenes, some bugs me and make me think “if only they didn’t cut it out, it could make me squeal even more”, I still find this drama a decent work that I could watch it again and again.

This is the most wonderful TV drama that I have ever watched.
This drama was created by the director, producers, actors and other staff members with their full dedication. The story really attracts me. The acting of each actor is excellent. The OST is very pleasant to listen to.
Although it was not broadcasted in the Chinese mainland, it is still worth watching. It is truly wonderful and the storyline is very exciting.

A Masterpiece Of Acting and Emotions
Now that this show is airing again, I've finally give it a try and I'm shocked that this didn't get as much attention back when it first aired because this is easily one of the top tier bl (or bromance because of censorship) I've seen till date. For me, this had the same effect as The Untamed, that is, I'm forced to read the novel because I just can't have enough.Plot: the plot is taken from Priest's Silent Reading/Modu but there have been some changes (some plot points, names for some reason, era which the story is set in, etc). If you're not read the books, you'll enjoy the plot. We have investigations, solving crimes and understanding human psychology, all of which is handled quite well in my opinion.
Acting: this here is the highlight of the show. Even though its censored, the actors are so good you can tell how much love is between Pei Su Lou Weizhao. Zhang Xicheng has went above and beyond when portraying Pei Su and now that I'm reading the book, I've realized that he has given full justice to the character. Really, I have nothing but praise for all actors.
Music: fits the atmosphere perfectly, and even elevates a lot of scenes. Its not the kind that I'm listening to it outside of the series but still something I loved.
Production: quite good, though the use of CG at certain places is weird but its short enough that you can easily miss. Overall the ambience is amazing, the flow of story is easy to follow and every scene blends seamlessly into another.
I can't recommend this series enough, its been a while since I've been this invested in a series (since mdz actually). Give it a try, even though its censored. Sure there aren't kiss scenes, but you can see the romance and tension between them.

WHERE IT BEGAN IS WHERE IT ENDS
Despite the debate about whether it's boy romance, brotherly-hood, or cutscene problem (no offence), this series has really a good plot, enough to make you curious and wait for the next episode or even waiting until 2 whole years (2023-2025) and reading the novel back and forth. Based on synopsys, this series focuses on Luo Wenzhou, a captain of the special investigation department of Xinzhou city, solving cases that come continuously with the assistance of Pei Su, an eccentric President Pei Group who somehow manages to be involved in each and every single one of them.Like what is say in The novel synopsis - novel priest (Mo Du), sources this series - which tells you about human nature and struggles, about life and trauma and how sometimes if you whisper help, someone would walk through fire to pull you out of the abyss, this series portrays most accurately what the novel can't show like racing cars, fighting scene, bombing car or building, and actor expression when explaining his trauma (PS), experience and other emotions. Even though so many scenes don't make sense because of cutting or censorship (which is why I don't know the reason) you can fill it with reading the novel, and you will feel complete (if you have time and are too curious about the story).
This show is about finding justice and fair trial and that desperation can either bring the best or the worst out of people. The cases from three generations were being dug out to be resolved which is related to criminals with DNA defects -zero empathy-. As the principle SID -Justice will never lose its glory in darkness- and the credibility of the investigation office can be restored, thanks to team 6 members. There are 3 parties involved here. the first one is SID which join force with PS, the second is the organizations that selters many wanted criminals, PS father is one of the former member (money bank) of this organizations and he call this group is ‘his sword’ to smoothened his business path and the last is the reciter/cleaner/janitor with hatred and resentment left because of their love on are murdered or violated by those group, the latest episode shows that PS father join this force, betrayed the organizations.
All of the actor can pull out the characters in the book really well, such as how mischievous, righteous and clever LWZ as captain of special investigation dept, and how complicated character PS has because of how he raised, how environmental change his character and how he struggles with the past and his DNA. Even the actor who acts as a criminal can make me feel like a creep.
Even until now, I like to rewatch this series, and hoping the official subtitles team will broadcast this series cause it's a pity if people who like to watch the thriller-adrenalin induction-suspense scene and physiology theory with all modern setting for police (tool to access investigation, compared to other suspense criminal c-drama) and setting place that is complement with story, to not watch this series. Or maybe BL fans who like some storyline like this will like it. The relationship dynamic between leads is great, they uncover secrets and overcome trauma through solving cases together.
If this series can be as famous as TU to worldwide that means whatever they (cast and team) went through will pay off. So, don't be discouraged when you read bad comments about this series (for you who like this kind of genre and not mind for BL/bromance contents, because in my opinion, for this kind of series, need strong character and it seems to suit well if both lead are male, sometimes female characters will be revealing to much emotions, and personally make me kinda bored and annoyed), So, go watch this, and make sure to give your score to each episode.
In a nutshell, this series is 10/10 for me.

Interesting but lacking big time
Sadly was highly disappointed at the lack of chemistry and bromance. The mystery part is great, but the lack of screen time with the two of them is horrible. So disappointed but then again not surprised since its bromance and not BL the way it should be like the book. I have two say I have seen better bromance, don't know how anyone gave this 10 stars its a lie. The storyline can be interesting at times, but it does drag on for to long, the banter is fun and the cast of actors look spot on, but the lack of true bromance chemistry is horrible. The down part is this is suppose to be a BL like the book did amazing, but to take of the BL was horrible. The bromance is even more bare with little chemistry with the actors time together. The cases are fun for each episode, the music is lovely, but as for holding a candle to the book its horrible. Its just another sherlock type of story nothing even much on bromance it was more like friends which is boring. Very disappointed. Was this review helpful to you?
best series ever
Strong story, great lighting, great soundtrack, great acting, beautiful costume design! This series is complete and I'm just sad that no one is doing anything to save this series! This series has international fans and we like to see all the episodes of this series! The chemistry between two male actors is more than all the chemistry between men and women in romantic series! It has very interesting crime stories to tell... I really need to watch this series in its entirety and even review it several timesWas this review helpful to you?
WOW!! amazing performance from Pei Su and Luo Wei. Thank you WOWOW.
Thank you Wowow TV for showing this drama until we could watch it completely. It was once stopped by YOUKU at that time. What I can say is, this drama has very high potential to become popular if they not cut the important/hurt scenes part between two main lead. The main actors, Pei Su and Captain Luo are very talented in acting.
The music, "You Raise Me Up" is my favourite song. However, I wish there were more background music to enhance emotional moments especially during the hurtful scenes. At times, the music felt off-track or didn’t match the mood.
What’s sad is that there are many plot holes, and a lot of scenes were clearly cut out. It’s very noticeable.
Another thing, while I'm writing this review, episodes 9 to 30 still don’t have proper subtitles, so I didn’t fully understand the whole story. Of course, I will rewatch it again from episode 1 to 30 for understand better.
Still, JITD still the best for bromance genre.
What really made me interested in this drama is because of Pei Su and Captain Luo. Their acting is really good.
episod 30, really worth watching.
Highly recommended!
