Not for me but might be great for others
There's nothing excessively bad about the series but eight episodes in, and it's still quite bland for me personally. This sort of reminds me of CSI Miami where everything is overly exaggerated and everyone is too cool for the show. This type of show may have worked better a decade ago before an overabundance of true crime shows surfaced.-- The crimes beneath the overarching main conspiracy crime are somewhat decent but they also spoon-feed you the clues from the overacting, music, etc.
-- The few actions scenes so far were done well on its own but it doesn't fit the characters. The two mains are supposed to be a standard seasoned cop and a wealthy kid but their fighting skills are apparently on the level of 007.
-- The main MLs also really don't have much chemistry with one another and their relationship feels forced and awkward (even when you don't take into account how they met when one was just a kid).
Overall, it's one of those shows that I wouldn't have a problem with continuing but there's really nothing intriguing enough. My taste in crime series also lean heavy toward more realism. I think if they actually made this more futuristic/sci-fi (almost nothing is " sci-fi-esque" per the description other than the existence of apaths) and significantly picked up the pacing, it would have been a much easier watch.

Almost perfect
I loved it, but not for the reasons I expected.It's a very good well written drama, I think the source material have to be a magnificent piece of art to have an adaptation like this.
Acting, story, chemistry, everything was great I just needed a few things for it to be the perfect drama.
I know it's adapted from a BL novel and this is a completely censored adaptation which is the main reason why I felt it needed some romance in it to make it more enjoyable, and I seriously don't care about it being a BL or normal romance it just lacked this touch.
The second reason I needed romance was we get too deep with the characters, we dissect their personality to layers and put each one under a magnifying glass and know more and more about them, Yet, we didn't address their emotions and feelings for eachother.
Another thing that slightly confused me having too many characters, with more than one case -very old and new cases - I get confused then slightly bored and lost, but the thing that kept me going was the two leads and how they interact and try to solve crimes together.
So it lacks a bit of order and some romance to tie things up beautifully but other than that it's a very enjoyable crime drama ~

Interesting but lacking big time
Sadly was highly disappointed at the lack of chemistry and bromance. The mystery part is great, but the lack of screen time with the two of them is horrible. So disappointed but then again not surprised since its bromance and not BL the way it should be like the book. I have two say I have seen better bromance, don't know how anyone gave this 10 stars its a lie. The storyline can be interesting at times, but it does drag on for to long, the banter is fun and the cast of actors look spot on, but the lack of true bromance chemistry is horrible. The down part is this is suppose to be a BL like the book did amazing, but to take of the BL was horrible. The bromance is even more bare with little chemistry with the actors time together. The cases are fun for each episode, the music is lovely, but as for holding a candle to the book its horrible. Its just another sherlock type of story nothing even much on bromance it was more like friends which is boring. Very disappointed.Was this review helpful to you?
A MUST WATCH FOR DANMEI LOVERS
I will give Justice in the dark a solid 10/10. If possible I will give it 100/10. Sebagai pembaca novel, gw puas banget dengan adaptasi Mo Du ini. Ceritanya sesuai dengan buku, cuma diadaptasi sesuai kondisi sensor di cina dan mungkin juga budget tapi tetap aja pas nonton Justice in the dark serasa berasa Fei Du dan Luo Wenzhou yang dari novel bener-bener hidup nyata. ZXC dan FXB bener-bener sangat talented. Walaupun dengan keterbatasan sensor, mereke tetap bisa membuat suasana romansa dengan ekspresi dan tatapan mata mereka. Salut deh buat ZXC dan FXB dan tentu saja semua aktor lain, dan semua pihak yang telah membuat serial ini begitu fantastik. Semoga ke depannya, serial adaptasi danmei lainnya kayak Immortality dan Eternal Faith juga bisa dibeli dan ditayangin negara lain, jangan sampe kita harus Eternal Wait dan kultivasi jadi Immortal dulu bisa nonton. Gente, eu sou completamente apaixonada por essa trama. Assisti na época que foi cancelado e lembro até hoje da minha decepção, fiquei arrasada. Quando soube que iam continuar, quase chorei de emoção. Foi tipo: “meu Deus, obrigada por não terem abandonado essa obra-prima!”A história é tensa, inteligente e cheia de camadas. A química dos protagonistas é absurda, mesmo sendo só bromance. Eu fiquei vidrada do início ao fim. Tudo é bem feito, bem dirigido, com uma ambientação pesada e maravilhosa. Cada episódio me deixava mais presa.
Enfim, é aquele tipo de dorama que te marca. Pra mim, é praticamente perfeito. Merecia mais reconhecimento e divulgação, porque entrega tudo!

è un dramma che ti scava dentro e ti lascia un segno. il personaggio di Pei Su è complesso e meraviglioso e il suo rapporto con Luo Weizhao scalda il cuore. è uno slow burn davvero ben costruito.gli attori che li interpretano sono davvero bravissimi. lo sto rivedendo proprio per goderne meglio: con i sottotitoli si rischia di perdere gli sguardi di Pei Su che raccontano molto più delle parole.Weizhao è un uragano in movimento invece. e insieme si completano.anche il resto del cast davvero bravo.Was this review helpful to you?

就像一个网友说的，如果中文平台能播一定会有更多饭。剧情里猫猫和狗狗真的太吸引人了这个设定，温柔细腻的狗狗和傲娇失语的猫猫我真的爱惨了，演员都很努力，两位主演就更是用心。谢谢导演谢谢小甜甜，其实我以前看小说都没有看这部剧磕到的多，中国人真的太会写感情戏了，太会了，只要一个眼神，一个动作，尤其是骆闻舟开车拦截那一段，我心脏砰砰跳！还有两位主演的脸都好权威，太上头了5555Was this review helpful to you?

Como eu gostaria que essa série fosse tão aclamada quanto merece! Da atuação à montagem do cenário, tudo nela beira a perfeição. Lembro que comecei a assistir-lhe pouco antes de relançarem-a no Japão sem expectativa nenhuma, porém, logo no primeiro episódio, fui pego de surpresa e fiquei encantado por cada personagem. Apesar da remoção injusta das cenas mais íntimas entre os protagonistas, a tensão romântica pode ser sentida a milhas de distância e o enredo, na minha perspectiva, se sobressai a muitos BLs censurados famosos.Antes de escolher assistir-lhe, esteja ciente dos gatinhos que o drama podem trazer. Ele mexe muito com a natureza humana, questionando a inevitabilidade das coisas e a perversão consentida aos quais muitos lunáticos recorrem. Para tanto, temas bastante sensíveis são abordados - nada de forma romantizada, claro, mas sim de um modo que desestabiliza até mesmo os mais "cascas grossas". O dilema interno do protagonista, criado para ser um psicopata, entre entregar-se ao destino que lhe impuseram e seguir a vida como uma pessoa normal também realça a carga emocional trazida pela série.
Quanto à atuação, não tenho nem palavras para descrever. Dos protagonistas aos secundários, não vi sequer uma performance mixuruca ou desconfortável de assistir. Os atores principais arrasaram demais, o que apenas potencializa a minha decepção em saber que o drama não gerou o merecido reconhecimento a ambos.
Para a parte que muitos fãs de BL, assim como eu, esperam: não, não há uma carga romântica explícita no drama. Se você espera algo como "Killer and Healer" ou BLs censurados um pouco menos restritivos, talvez você se decepcione. Não falo isso devido à falta de intensidade emocional entre os dois, mas sim aos numerosos cortes de cenas que foram gravadas - as quais estão disponíveis como BTS da série e que revelam a proximidade muito mais explicitamente entre os personagens - que diminuíram bruscamente o relacionamento entre os protas. A despeito desse fator, o amor entre eles ainda se evidencia em muitos momentos, como o desespero estarrecedor na possibilidade de morte de qualquer um deles, no cuidado ambíguo de Luo Weizhao quanto a Pei Su, no comportamento dócil de Pei Su em relação a Luo Weizhao, etc.
Enfim, muitos são os elogios a serem feitos a essa série. Por ora, apenas espero que mais e mais pessoas a assistam. 🙏🏾

10 /10 A Romance That Never Comes TogetherGuang Yuan had an interesting premise, but unfortunately it never manages to turn its ideas into an engaging story. The biggest issue is the complete lack of chemistry between the leads. Their relationship feels distant from beginning to end, making it difficult to become emotionally invested in their journey. Instead of building tension or romance, the series often feels flat and disconnected.
The pacing doesn’t help either. What starts as a modest, slow-burn story gradually loses momentum, with several episodes feeling repetitive rather than meaningful. By the second half, the narrative becomes even harder to follow, and the emotional payoff never arrives.
While the production has a few decent moments, stiff performances and uneven storytelling prevent the drama from reaching its potential. Even viewers who enjoy slower romances may struggle to stay invested.
If you’re looking for a heartfelt BL with memorable chemistry and satisfying character development, there are many stronger options available. Sadly, Guang Yuan ends up being more frustrating than rewarding, making this an easy pass.
