WHY THE F--K DO C-DRAMAS DO THIS??
I swear, the amount of times CDramas are ruined for me is when they infantalize the FL. She's supposed to be the "older" woman but she acted like a highschooler. Seriously... not only is she supposed to be like 30 years old or something and a famous singer too and yet she acts immature and like another reviewer stated, "coy allll the time." The only time the FL ever has a backbone is when she's facing a female rival because of course... let's be strong against bitchy women but weak with men. Put the FL back in front of the ML, and she's so lacking. I couldn't listen to her "baby" voice anymore. The side characters were so boring ... the love triangle was useless because the other dude wasn't really a contender. I don't know him as an actor but he definitely wasn't a good fit for the role. How are we supposed to be interested in the love triangle part when the SML looks so much older and unfortunately creepier? He looked like he could've been the FL's uncle. Ugh. I just couldn't get on board with him and his fashion. They should've had a real contender for the love triangle.
Another disaster was the SFL. Of course, she just can't move on with her life because of her ex. He's getting happily married and she's like, "I'm giving up my dream of being a drummer! I'm so upset he's getting married, I'm gonna crash my car and then get drunk!!" Wah wah wah... O.M.G!!!! Someone get this lady a "Wah-bulance"! Writers, I beg you all, stop giving women a bad name. It's 2023. No man, especially an ex, is worth a woman giving up her dreams for. Who wrote this crap of a storyline?Bejezus!! I felt sorry for the guy who kept chasing her. She clearly rebuffs him, consistently and constantly and he just didn't leave her alone. Why he liked her in the first place was beyond me.
And the ML... he carried most of the show but his roommates and classmates were also like a bunch of geeky highschoolers who couldn't even get their own gfs. I wished the ML actually left to study abroad because I was just tired of seeing him chase after the FL who wouldn't hear what he had to say but listened to everyone else. Ugh.
Anyways, I think this was geared towards a younger audience. I watched this on and off, hoping to finish it slowly but I just couldn't take it anymore.

Slightly disappointed
I was waiting for this drama to air since I saw the teaser trailer. It was really a beautifully done teaser. When I watched the first few episodes I was quite hooked, the story was simple and the romance was slow budding and sweet. However as more episodes passed by I was disappointed by the lack of actual point to the story.~Loves~
- The CGI for the gaming sequence is very well done
- The whole drama was beautifully shot, and the cast looks great
- The falling in love while gaming is pretty cute
~Hates~
- Lack of character development in both FL and ML. Aside from FL becoming a better gamer (not even sure how that suddenly happens since ML wasn't teaching her much, just letting admire his gaming prowess, guess she's a fast learner after all)
- The FL is supposedly a successful singer, but gets shy from just a look from a student. He's good looking I give you that, but being a singer, can't be she have never interact with attractive guys to be that impacted?
- I don't really care for the story of the side couple, I forwarded through it all. The side love story seems to be forced as there's no tie in to the main couple besides the fact that they're both friends with each other. The romance doesn't add anything to the story
- Synopsis feels like a cheat, I would expect at least some "chasing after your dreams" storyline to tie in to the gaming part. But it seems like there's none? The ML is a university student who is supposedly perfect and smart. But doesn't seems like he has any dreams whatsoever and is just busy dating his dream girl. Also is randomly a violin genius on top of a computer genius??? Scriptwriter, choose one thing only please!!
- Supposedly popular female actress walks around dating with a man but not even concerned with hiding her face from paparazzi
Okay end of my rant. I guess it would be a nice fluff piece if you're looking for something light to watch on a weekend. Maybe I'm disappointed cause I was expecting more to the story and there's basically nothing much going on.

Cute Chill Love Story
I'm a bit biased since the male lead is Lin Yi. I find him cute when I saw him first in Put Your Head On My Shoulder drama. His acting is subtle but very cute. As for the female lead, this is the first time I've watched her.I find that the female lead doesn't fit in this role. I mean she is cute and etc. but since she is supposed to be a singer, I don't find her fitting for the role. Although it was initially insinuated that there will be an age gap between the lead, I find the female lead a tad too old looking beside the male lead.
For the story line, I think it is becoming a norm where ordinary people falls in love with an idol or actor/actress. I love online games and I think (regardless of the occupation), if you really spend a lot of time playing together, it is possible to develop some feelings. I love how the games comes "alive" thru them. I remember like how they did it also for Love O2O. Inserting this "game action" gives some sort of break from all the "drama" (no pun intended) in their life. The second male lead I also find too old for the female lead.
So far no heavy drama which I really like. There is enough cute scenes that makes you want to watch more. Hhhmmm the side story for the second leads, I find a bit confusing so I just usually skip it. But overall this is worth watching more than once.
As for the music, I love the OST so far. Very light and refreshing to the ears. I plan to download them on my phone.

First thoughts...
Well, you all may think I wrote this review too fast or judged it too quick but I just had to give out my thoughts.I think its first impression on me was actually quite good. I kinda like all dramas with gaming involved (like Love O2O or Go Go Squid or Cross Fire) as I find them thrilling and also because its kinda my hobby.
The opening ost kinda gave me a feeling similar to the kind you find when watching an American series and felt nice to see and hear something different in Chinese dramas for a change.
The music was the first thing that drew me towards this drama, it kinda gave me a feeling of satisfaction for some reason(maybe because the singer's voice was good..^_^) and the drama also had few comedic factors(characters) which is quite enjoyable. It's a normal rom-com genre drama and a bit cliche. If you hadn't watched other Chinese dramas of same type or sort then I think you will enjoy it.
I also found out that the ML's(Lin Yi) acting has improved a lot from his previous(1st) drama 'Put Your Head On My Shoulder' and I kinda like this drama more than his recent works from the 'The Blessed Girl'. I found this drama having many similar points from Love O2O in the sense the ML is in University, lives in a dorm, has good relation with his dorm mates, more intelligent than them(more skilled), ML & FL is popular, male like female first and the gaming and also similar to cross fire as the characters actually play the game kind of like a virtual game in the episodes though its not actually virtual(if that makes sense....)
I will definitely recommend this drama for watching and for rewatching but again it totally depends on your preference.

good vibe, poor story
nice romance drama sadly with poor story and just little above average coupling.Vibe is nice and cute all about famous singer older girl and younger man getting together.
These game sequences and teaching etc wasnt done well it was mostly for effect than for story.
Both main leads was had quite mischievous behaviour.. sadly they didnt applied it to their counterpart if they got more rememberable flirting scenes this drama would be much better.
plot - FL is famous singer, ML is genius student of programming and famous game streamer of popular game which FL got offer to endorse. Friend of FL introduces ML to her as game coach. Its how they meet and its how they start their relationship.
genre -romance, entertainment industry, gaming

Allot of goo and sweetness surrounded by stalking and predictability
This drama is sweet but has so many stalkers in it that one may want to rename it to "Stalking scenery". The stalking here is portrayed as some kind of miss placed affection but not att all called out. The drama does however have a good balance of gooey romance, action and conflicts in it with the added bonus of the scenes inside the computer game, that add both action and sweetness to the drama. The dramas douse however not come with anything a person who has seen c-dramas before has not seen before but it is well executed. The plot is extremely predictable.I'm not saying it as a bad thing. predictable can be fun and entertaining too. If I had a BINGO chart with c-drama tropes this drama would hit BINGO on several lines. It was actually pretty funny to watch as the predictable trope came along i really just wanted to tick a box or shout BINGO but had neither the Bingo chart or a list but you who have not seen it, I strongly recommend you try.
The music is pretty good, there is one song that keeps on playing over and over again while other songs only come on once or twice. It would have been nice to hear the other songs more and the first song a bit less. The looks the leads exchange in the beginning of the drama are so intense it reaches out thru the screen, but be were that once the tension between the leads is gone, the chemistry slowly follows. Which leaves us with the Lin Yis extreme charm and cuteness to hold up ones interest, and well it did the job for me.
When entering a C-drama I'm always prepared for the male lead to force himself on the female lead. And have almost developed a scale of between full on disrespect and rape 1 to 10 respectful and consensual relationship. This guy scores a 9 seeing he douse cross the line a little bit once but makes up for it later on and is over all very respectful towards the female lead. I am however not really thrilled over how the female leads interest for physical intimacy is portrayed. A little bit to much of the guy is expected to want it all the time while the girl is not supposed to admit to wanting it though she probably is just as interested just puts me off. Writers please lets start writing healthy consensual relationships with or without physical intimacy where both parts are equally interested in whatever they may be interested in.
The side characters in this drama where mid annoying for most parts and did not really bring much to the table so I decided to skip the side couples scenens mostly since I figured life is to short for stalkers as well as mildly annoying side characters, I recommend you do the same, it ups the enjoyment by quite a bit ;)
All in all a pretty ok drama to watch, allot of sweet gooey (more intense then fluffy) scenens, a very sweet male lead and a pretty decent female lead for most parts with an okay story line. If you are in it for the sweet gooey parts this is definitely worth watching but if you want something with substance do look elsewhere.

Light new adult drama that left me wanting more...in a bad way
I was deceived! I thought this was a noona romance with substance but this drama was light but underdeveloped. It's shocking because it is based on a new adult fiction. I haven't read the story though so my review is purely based on this series. What I like:
1) I like the opening song Never Stop (Rock version) since the very first episode. I even love it more when I read the lyrics. Brilliant song about chasing dreams.
2) I like the first half of the series especially when Liang Chen and Lu Jing played games together. The sexual tension grew once Lu Jing figured out Little Box's identity and gosh I love those moments.
3) Visuals of the leads - Lin Yi was boyishly handsome in this series while Xu Lu has high cheekbones like a model.
4) Lu Jing's dorm mates and even rival was fun to watch. They were adorable with their shenanigans.
What I dislike:
1) The writing - It was a struggle to finish Love Scenery especially once it reached mid-point. Second half was dull & underdeveloped. I wish the writer went deeper with Liang Chen's problems. Ideally I think it would be better to start Liang Chen as critically-acclaimed artist who had to go on hiatus because of health scare and that's when she meets Lu Jing (gaming while recuperating). While recuperating, she evaluates her life achievements and potential and decided to tackle a new challenge by doing rock songs and going on survival show. Another subplot that disappointed me was the development of the main characters' love story. Yes we know that there are challenges dating a public figure or even dating an older woman but the show only told not show these "challenges". Too many montages and filler scenes. I wish there were scenes of actual conversations between Liang Chen and Lin Yi. Maybe a scene about them unintentionally making music together since she was looking for inspiration for next album and he plays violin.
2) Not a fan of Ma Shan Shan. She wallowed in self-pity 80% of the show and was indifferent to Sun Binyu and even Liang Chen. She didn't deserve that much screentime.
3) The romance - The chemistry between Lin Yi and Xu Lu isn't there. Xu Lu seemed skittish whenever Lin Yi's character became affectionate (this includes hugging). It also seemed that Lu Jing was the only one initiating kisses and being enthusiastic while at it.
4) Supporting characters - I feel that Sun Binyu and Ding Jiayun were poorly written characters. Their only purpose was becoming love interests. What a shame!
Favourite scene:
1) When Lu Jing took photo with Liang Chen with the toy with box-shaped head. Then he sent the photo to Liang Chen and asked her what she thought of the photo. That was very cheeky of him!

Can't be the only one who's disappointed ? :(
Feels weird to write a bad review in between all those good ones, but I was kinda surprised that so many people see this drama so differently than me?I must say that I've tried SO HARD to stick to this drama and did everything to adapt to it, but sadly I just didn't make it :( I haven't specifically followed this, but I know this is a much anticipated drama, and because the trailer and some BTS had have me hooked up right away, I thought I'd understand the hype.
... But no? Somehow something just didn't work for me. The acting was great, the production looked okay, the story partly seemed a bit cliché, but I didn't bother. I must admit that gaming isn't really my genre, but I thought it wouldn't be that tough if the story was great enough, and I found GGS(2) great, but here, I eventually started skipping some gaming scenes, because they just were sooo unnecessarily long?! That's also when I realized I needed to skip almost half of the Ep at times.
Speaking of the gaming scenes, that part of the story kinda made me feel uncomfortable. Those scenes imply them 2 together in person, much personal interaction and they contain many romantic peaks already, though they didn't even know the tiniest bit of who they were in real yet? And it didn't seem like they would start to very soon. So, speaking of the story, it kinda felt like a little betrayal to us viewers to maybe believe in their chemistry? Or to push the love story forward that won't happen too soon otherwise? Idk.
Other point, WHY they had to make ML's love rival an old man? :(( For better contrast because the ML's so young? As if a man in FL's age wouldn't have been enough for that, I think the whole setting stressed ML's & FL's age gap enough.
Last, the music. I didn't find it particularly bad, but it should've and could've been better, maybe just a bit more catchy or just more special and outstanding, considering it plays such an important role in the story? I know it's really subjective, but to me it's just not comparable to the OST's of Love is Sweet or GGS2.
I'm seriously considering jumping on the train again when they start dating to not miss the sweet scenes (which are the reason why I initially started to watch this). Guess I'll keep watching some previews on YouTube to make my final decision.

A drama that makes you go きや!きや! (Kya! Kya!)
Be warned! you will be massaging your jaw from grinning ear to ear and/or your significant other may go きや!きや! through the series lol! There were too many flavours on this drama; so far, spicy, sweet, cheesy, bitter, salty, and much more!
After the 8th spoon, I was convinced to write a review lol
The Recipe was fresh, in my opinion, maybe because it's adapted from a novel, very easy to digest and light.
Seeing how it will be 31 episodes; I am just at the surface of it, not sure whether it has other surprises but I'll embrace the journey.
The chemistry was strong between the leads; sometimes, I wonder if they actually dating irl... I can feel a bit of Love O2O from it, maybe because it involves virtual gaming, idolization, and University life...
Some people may like the OST
With its storyline, this drama is perfect for someone that has a long-bad day, or a couple date night :)
having said that, although there maybe some loophole, don't over think it and you will enjoy the series
