Favourite of the year

This was a surprise drama I hadn't expected to like so much, but it's fast-pace, cgi, and comedy drew me to it. It's a beautiful romance, and redeemed Dylan Wang as an actor in my eyes. This is a drama I would recommend watching, especially if you love a story that focuses on the main leads, their romance, and their development as individuals.
The reason I've only given it 9 stars instead of 10 was the ending felt rushed, as did the side plots. This was a drama I could've happily watched to 40 episodes to see other stories fleshed out. Jie Li and Shang Que were fun to watch, but we barely watched any development between them, and so their romance fell flat a bit. I also felt Jie Li was an interesting character but didn't get anywhere near enough time to flesh out her backstory/ main story. Same with Shang Que, he was a dragon, yet we see very little of his power, and when trouble came, he was rarely found. In the end, being sisters to Danyin had very little impact and could've been written out. I was also intrigued by the Arbiter and her love story, but only saw a brief glimpse, not even a, hey after the peace treaty they were rescued from their prison. These little side stories can elevate a drama to 10 stars.
I was also disappointed the emperor didn't die. He was horrible.
However, this world was incredibly interesting, and I wouldn't say no to a season 2, I think corrupting the emperor would make an interesting story. Better yet, bring back the Arbiter, and lets roll the dice and play with fate?

PERFECTION OF FANTASY ROMANCE COLOSAL DRAMA

Bad english, try my best.

First of all i want say thank you in deeply way to the producer and writer who brought this drama, they fillfull my imagination for perfect romance fantasy colosal drama. If you asking me what i want to see from romance fantasy colosal drama, Love Between Fairy and Devil is the answer. Powerful Villain/Anti Hero - Sunshine Protoganist love stroy? Check, Enemies to lovers? Check, Amazing fantasy world building story? Check, Best chemistry from main couple? Check, Check and Check.

This drama have simple story, story about love. But delivered in amazing way. The main plot is forbidden love, two opposite person who shouldnt meet and falling love meet by destiny. The main couple get heart curse so that their soul connected, our most powerful and fearless anti hero a.k.a Dongfang Sincang (DFQC) must connected to the most weak, sloppy, spoiled yet pure heart Orchid Fairy. He force to protect the fairy in order to protect himself, ofcourse he will find a way to break the curse and kill Orchid, but they are falling in love (obvisiouly). We will see their love grow scene by scene, we will see their stunning yet hurting love development from hate to love to willing to die for each other. Romance and comedy blend very well, there also glimpse of war and political issues, not that deep but still important becauce everything this opposite couple do for their love connected to their country or clan. Everything comes with consequence. So i feel what characters do in this drama is reasonable.

What i love the most about this drama is chemistry of main couple. They really show us what opposite attractive love looks like. I love how DFQC is most powerful human being in the story but becomes so soft time by time just for his pure heart Orchid Fairy. In this case, Dylan Wang as DFQC is perfection, you can see his emotion and passion for his character, especially the duality when he have to acting charismatic af as DFQC and also cuteness overload as Orchid. also for Esther Yu really potray Orchid in perfect way, tbh is kinda hard to loving sloppy and spoiled character, but Esther deliver that behaviour in Orchid very loveable, if not Esther, maybe i cant love baby Orchid. Big appluse for them.

Beside that, every side characters also have their time to shine, each sub plot very interesting. For 36 episode, i am enjoying it so much, i barely find boring scene. The world buliding also solid, every costum and music very stunning. The CGI of this drama also a big applause, magicaly beautiful. The only one i would complain about this drama is how short the episodes, i think i can wath DFQC and Orchid love story over and over again without feel bored. Hope for seasons 2 or atleast special episode :")

This is my first china drama i can finish, and i am deeply in love with every aspect of this drama. This may sound very subjective but even korean drama which is my usual watch cant beat my love for LBFD. If you looking for Anti-Hero-Protagonist opposite attractive love story you may want to watch this drama. I guarantee you will love this.

This is the only xianxia that deserves more episodes

This is my 2nd review of 2022, best xianxia right here! Just like that, LBFAD kicked ALP to the curb. I started watching this after watching LLTG… I moved on so quickly from 081 to DFQC, I can’t help but compare the 2 shows. In particular, how our leads expressed their love. DFQC was true to his word from start till end, always prioritising XLH - this was my favourite bit.

The one thing I liked most about this xianxia in particular, is how DFQC warmed up so quickly to XLH. Apparently this is narrated quite differently from the novel, I like it better this way cos we get to see them spend lots of quality time together. They take “unwavering love” to the next level by truly keeping to their promises. It’s also one of the rare xianxias that keep angst to the minimum (but tears still guaranteed, this had me in tears right till the very end).

I also enjoyed the mortal arc but only because they went there as themselves and not for a tribulation. Each and every phase they experienced together from shuiyuntian to the mortal realm and beyond was so precious. 36 eps means that it’s fast paced from the get go, never draggy. But I feel like we could’ve gotten at least 4 more episodes. Our leads are so endearing and they support each other through thick and thin, they deserve more than just a lifetime of happiness!

The main theme of the show is about sacrifice and love that prevails. With a great soundtrack to boot! It’ll be a shame to miss out on this gem. Rewatch value 10000/10 in fact I feel like rewatching it now.

Storyline: the beginning of the drama starts out way too slow and confusing, I’d say it starts getting more interesting after like episode 10. The last few episodes were also confusing and really rushed. Scenes were great, costuming, props, everything was awesome.

Music: Love the soundtrack, definitely one of my favorites with several different songs to listen to.
Cast: what makes a drama better is appealing side characters, it’s pretty hard to hate seconds leads if they are good looking

In my opinion I think what could have improved the show was the last few episodes. It’s felt really rushed and it felt like it was going to crash. The ending was way too hasty. It feels like the dram brakes suddenly and it runs right into a wall and ends suddenly. I don’t really like that about dramas when they just have more plots even on the last episode, that ,are you feel like it might not even have time to end there.

Also there’s are probably several parts that we can cut out from the show. For example the entire Jieli and Danyin being twin sisters. I think that part could have been left out, wether they are siblings or not it would have changed the story much. As for Rong Hao he was captured twice and let out twice, that only needed to happen once and then he could have went to save his master.

it's a rollercoster

this drama gets me crying one minute and the next minute laughing. I for one love a good tragedy when i see one and this one is awesome. not only that the acting of the actors and actresses is incredibly heck i love the soundtracks too. I don't like weak FL but dammit the little fairy made it in my book although she is weak she didn't back down when it come to sacrificing herself in short in a way she is strong in her own way she made it in my book for being a strong FL but I would have preferred her to fight like action wise cause lets be real she hardly did any action but oh well. no matter my criticism I still like this drama cause to me it is well-written heck we also have side couples and a tragedy inside a tragedy because of the student and master/teacher's death. now the student and master/teacher story was like a hidden gem in this drama for me cause i couldn't hate the student because although he was a bad guy he did wanted to bring the woman that he love back to life and he didn't mind being the bad guy also when he kills his master that he loves soo much i taught i would have cried but naa i got my heart ripped out of me. Now back to the main couple this one give me a bunch of heartaches but it was worth it cause they both repay each other with one another life fairy dies for the devil and the devil dies for the fairy the clear the debt of life. Also am not saying the character's name or cast's name cause too lazy to copy and paste them but those of you who have seen this drama would know what i am talking about. though i have minor issues with the drama it's a 10 because it knows when and where to make the watcher/viewers get emotional . I also love when the fairy and the devil would swap bodies because both the actor and actress acting is incredibly in acting as if there literally swap bodies in real life.

A love so deep, tender and touching…

… that my tears are still flowing as I type this review. This is a love story that not just tugs at my heart strings but wrenches it as much as it makes it flutter and soar.

The ML was phenomenal and I loved all his different faces. Cool and rigid as the emotionless Moon Supreme. Girly when he switched bodies. Puzzled as he starts figuring out love. Pained as he regains his emotions and understands his past. Caring when he was in love. Happy and playful when he was sharing sweet moments in his dreamworld.

One of the best paced story telling I’ve seen for a xanxia. The story itself was also very good with a good amount of twists and reveals without overdoing the jealousies. “2 sides to a coin” - this drama handled this very well especially in showing how people are not evil in the Moon Tribe. All the reveals behind all the “evil” actions made my heart break repeatedly.

Obsession leads to chaos. I kept asking myself why RongHao had to do what he did. On one hand, I understood his obsession. And on the other hand, I kept wishing he would be righteous enough not to carry out his plans. Such a grey character which provided the right level of adversities for the main couple to overcome.

While not the best, the costumes, sets and props were good enough to tell the story. Don’t get caught up with some of the minor little details and you could love this as much as than Ten Miles of Peach Blossom.

LOVED BEYOND YEARS

This is my on my top 5 Cdrama list. AMAZING acting. Dylan wang is not only absolutely stunning but he embodied his role perfectly. Gosh his stare of love can melt anyones heart!!! The chemistry between the leads, was straight fire!!! The side characters were not annoying. They were a perfect side add-on. Loved the small amount of bromance we got. This had everything!, from comedy, to drama, to romance. Can we talk about how spoiled we were given how many times we got a kiss scene!!!! I just loved how well everyone played their roles! This drama has everything, i would love to watch a 2nd season!!!

Entertaining Blend: Acting, Music, and Storytelling

It was good! I loved everyone's acting. The music was perfect; it enhances the scenes. It had comedy, romance, emotional scenes, action, and magic packed in.

At the beginning, I loved the first 10-15 episodes. It held suspense and mystery perfectly with a few romantic interactions. I was a little bored in the middle, but the story gets better once we started exploring Dong Fangcang's past. Towards the end, this story shows some intense emotions. The only complaint is that they did not show the main leads together for a long period of time. I am glad it had special 2 episodes. I have not seen them yet, but I am looking forward to seeing more of their scenes.

absolutely spot on

To start of, the drama was almost miss out by me with a few almost the same story line drama coming around the same time. But this is the one that really stands up.
All was really very very good less the OST which doesnt worth 10 but really wanted to give a perfect score for this drama.
My personal feel why this stands up of the rest was:
1. Many small little created the smile and laughter to viewer.
2. Enjoying with relaxing but not at any point felt boring or wanted to skip or fast forward even already knowing whats going to happen next.
3. Created a loving and hopeful mindset for viewers

Epic Love Story with a Healthy Dose of Angst and Humor

When starting this series I thought, it would be mostly cliches and contrived plot lines. Though there was a little bit of that, you can’t have a romance drama without cliches, but the story worked so well that these instances were barely noticeable.

The series spent a lot of time focused on building the connection between Dongfang and Orchid, which set up a great foundation for their relationship evolving into love later in the series. Though Dongfang was brooding and morose, and on a mission of great importance, he couldn’t help but to become captivated by Orchid’s kind and cheerful energy.

The “mundane” of the everyday with he and Orchid of just chatting over a drink/meal to conflicts over everything from the history of the battle between Shuiyuntian and Canyan Sea, to eating breakfast, to the laziness that is sleeping in, made it fun to experience their world. Most especially when they were living at Arbiter Hall.

Moreover, Dongfang’s immersion in his hate for the fairies, which was fueling his most powerful magic (the hell fire), yet desire to feel, to love, to be with Orchid who was everything he should hate, was compelling to watch. As was Orchid’s metamorphosis from fun, yet immature girl, to a mature (yet still cheerful and light) and strong woman was also interesting. When Dongfang finally let go, allowing himself to embrace his love for her, he loved with intensity and a depth that was swoon worthy, and Orchid, despite her lightheartedness, matched that love with her own deep devotion and intensity.

The love story in this was epic because these two were are all in with their love for each other, even before they realized they were in love. And being all in meant they did some pretty extraordinary things for each other. Dongfang’s strength was incredible to watch. He went through it, constantly sacrificing, constantly enduring physical and mental angst, but always remained mentally strong.

The B and C stories, had good writing and tied in well with the main plot. I could not stand Lord Hao. His brand of love was the other extreme, which was obsession, an obsession that could have destroyed all three realms, but despite this I understood what drove his actions. Though the fairies were supposed to be the good guys, their community seemed to mostly be filled with bullies, hypocrites and intolerant a******. Orchid and Lord Changheng seemed to be the only truly good people in the community.

The series was well-written, but there were a couple of plot holes, sometimes the Xiyan curse only worked when convenient. Why did Lady Chidi end up in the mortal world after she sacrificed herself to save the fairies? Was that because she violated the rules a fate by saving Lord Hao from death? Did the thousands of years of warring between the Moon Tribe and the Fairies really start over someone getting dumped? Basically someone from the Moon Tribe getting dumped by a fairy? Crazy. SMH.

Really enjoyed all the relationships in this. They all had some complexity and thus were interesting and developed in a direction which was unexpected. I would’ve liked to have seen more of the Moon Tribe and it’s culture. Some intriguing things were revealed but not much time was spent on those things due to the story having to move forward.

The CGI in this was excellent as was the acting. Dylan Wang as Dongfang was the stand out though. The complexity of this character could’ve been lost on a lesser actor, but I think he handled it like a pro. Yu Shuxin was good as well, but she struggled, just a little, with some of the big emotional moments.

I thought the last 3-4 episodes dragged, I was not feeling Orchid pretending to have no memory of her previously life. Moreover there was too much time spent on Danyi’s family drama and Lord Hao living in a fantasy with Lady Chidi. It was painful to watch him living in a lie with her while she gradually became a soulless monster. I know that wasn’t the story but I would’ve liked to have seen Dongfang and Orchid deciding together to work to destroy Tai Sui, instead of secretly doing their own thing. I also really would’ve liked to have seen more of their reunion at the end. Perhaps them finally getting married or a fast forward to hundreds of years in the future with them living happily, but oh well.

Despite some of my qualms, I enjoyed this series immensely. It’s definitely worth the time to watch. It will be one I will rewatch often in the future.

Good, but expected more

I finally finished this after a month! Overall, this was good, but I expected a little more. Some parts felt long and draggy because I didn’t care too much about certain characters after a while.

The acting of the leads was amazing though. I loved their chemistry a lot, and understand why everyone went crazy over them??. I wasn’t a big fan of our Black Dragon because 1) he was kind of bad at his job, 2) kind of dumb and 3) we never saw him as a dragon except for, like, two times. That’s so annoying. I also didn’t like Jie Li to be honest. Her character was really annoying.

The cinematography and CGI were amazing though. Such a feast for my eyes, I really loved it. The OST is also so beautiful and catchy!!

Now, where can I get a Dongfang Qing Cang for myself?
