Star Crossed Lovers

This story is beautiful. The novel, Black Moonlight holds the BE Script by Teng Luo Wei Zhi, is one of my favorites. It's a good story and the chemistry between Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi is out of this world. From Love is Sweet to TTEOTM, I really can't get enough of them. However, I'm not a huge fan of the story. I know a lot of people like Bo'er Life, but it was too long for me, it dragged on too long that the storyline was messed up for me. I know why it was in there, but it was way too long, they didn't need the huge story. I enjoyed the YXW and original TTJ romance in the beginning. The LSS and CJM romance was rushed, it was crammed because of the 40-episode limit and the Bo'er Life/YXW and TTJ romance. This drama did not need all of the blood spitting, it's like every episode one of them spits out blood, it's unsettling. I think YBC had this epic potential but then just died out in the LSS and CJM era. The romance I loved the most was Pian Ran and Ye Qingyu. I loved them as a characters. Sun Zhenni portrayed Pian Ran beautifully, I loved their story, every bit of it. It's a great story, however, some of the scenes could be cut so the story wasn't so rushed in the end. If you don't have all of the story, it was surprising how LSS and TTJ had a child. Plus, Yue Fuya was in and out and in the end she wasn't necessary. This story definitely made my cry with the star crossed fated lovers story. The open ending was really nice, it wasn't sad nor happy, it's like a breath of fresh air. The ending seemed rushed, but I understand the 40-episode limit, and I know there was situations and whatnot. This is an amazing xian xia drama, but it's not the best ever. The lyrics to the songs were so emotional, and they really matched the scenes, but it's not the best OST I've heard. This drama is definitely worth watching, but however, not worth re-watching.

A beautiful story

I really loved this drama. To find a drama like Love Between Fairy and Devil (苍兰诀 ) is very hard. Jiu Lu Fei Xiang's novel, Demon King/The Parting of the Orchid and Cang, as a drama was something I never knew I loved it. This drama has a beautiful OST. The OST is amazing, it's perfect for the drama, I cannot stop listening to the OST. In the body swapping scenes, Dylan Wang really depicts the character of XLH, the way he crouches down and opens his eyes wider to bring the personality of XLH. It wasn't like a girl in a guy's body, and it was too "girly". Dylan Wang really was immersed in his character, all of his expressions, everything. The pacing went off track in the last few episodes, the way XLH came back as the goddess, it was such a drastic character change that it wasn't satisfied. It made the ending super hasty, not satisfying, like the story ran into a wall and stopped. I feel like some of the later episodes didn't flow well together, I feel like some of the scenes, and such could be taken out. Rong Hao's storyline wasn't totally necessary. And the storyline of Jie Li and Dan Yin of being twin sisters was just thrown out. However, it's a beautiful xian xia drama. Esther Yu was also amazing, very immersed in her character as XLH/Goddess Xi Yun. She portrayed the timid, "orchid", breezy fairy she was. Her acting improved a lot, and whenever XLH would cry, I would feel like crying as well, Esther Yu is amazing at portraying emotion, if you watch her in Youth With You S2, in the acting skit, you could see how well of an actor she was. I feel like if this series had 1 or 2 more episode(s), everything would flow better, it would be more satisfying. Nevertheless, the chemistry Esther Yu and Dylan Wang is what got me into this drama, they match each other's wave lengths. Dylan Wang being chaotic with Esther Yu, vice versa. Chemistry is an important aspect in any drama or movie, and the chemistry was there, and be honest, we all loved it. I personally wouldn't rewatch because I might just be extra picky when re-watching. And I do hope there will be a drama where Zhang Linghe and Esther Yu are the main leads because it was so sad to see the story of the forbidden love yet fated (?) love between the two.

Story like a river

This story is like a river, with all of these flows, ups and downs. It's a great modern drama, and I'm not a huge fan of modern dramas. I cried watching every episode, and I found myself binge watching this series. I loved how all of the characters grew throughout the story, it was logical in a sense. The romance between QLT and Huang Jun was unnecessary. His character was irrelevant, you could've changed him for BXX. Lin You's ending was, not what I hoped for. I loved of LSY and XXJ helped each other grow and find their true passion. It was really heartwarming, this drama. From how close all the moms were to the past of LSY's dad, it can be relatable yet so out of reach at the same time. I really have nothing I really didn't like. The ending was not my favorite, how XXJ had her emotional outburst, but I understand why. I really didn't like Shen Duo, for obvious reasons, the whole arc. Overall, this drama was like a river, flowing up and down. It's forever one of my favorite dramas, being a modern drama as well.
