not worth the watch

This drama had a promising start but it slowly got worse . The beginning was funny and sort of lighthearted and it was overall refreshing to watch in a thai lakorn since they are always very dramatic and serious. But this lighthearted-ness only lasted for about the first 6 episodes. As the story continued I got really angry at the ML he never thought about his wife just himself. After the FL got kidnapped and the video of her and the kidnapper got sent the ML changed. He rescued her but soon after in the hospital he couldnt even look at her while speaking saying he wasnt ready to talk about how she supposedly got raped and not even asking his own wife what happened. He then later on took the FL to the exact place she was kidnapped, that scene literally broke me she was crying cause she didnt want to go in and he kept trying to force her. And despite the FL literally yelling at him in tears about how she was pregnant with him and not the kidnapper the ML still denied it and thought that she only wanted his money. I wasnt even sure if I wanted to continue watching at this point but I was hoping that the ML would redeem himself but that never happened. He kept assuming that she had many lovers after seeing her with the doctor, banleng and sutee. He also kept saying how he only wanted the baby to be healthy which also got me annoyed. And after he did all of this he just apologized in the last episode and that was it, there was nothing more just an apology and saying that he wants the best for the baby and the mother. Overall this drama had potential but it was just ruined. If you personally prefer slap kiss lakorns you can avoid this one and watch dramas like kluen cheewit or hua jai sila that are also slap kiss lakorns but with a much better storyline and much better ML.

Everyone has an opinion

This has got to be one of the hardest review I have ever written, not because of the things everyone was pissed about. But because I actually really like this lakorn. Personally, I like an arrange marriage, deceiving, dramatic, and complicated plot. (and toxic but that just me) It has been a while that I have seen a good plot from Thai lakorn. The last time I even really enjoyed a lakorn is Roy Leh Saneh Rai starring Tik and Aom, and that was a long time ago. So just a heads up that this is my type of genre. I might even be the only on here that like this lakorn.

I love a good slap kiss lakorn and I know it's not for everyone but that's what make Thai lakorn so different and unique from other dramas.

With that said, I do feel like a review is very much needed especially with all the backlash this lakorn received. I wanted to keep this review simple but I have personally been invested in this lakorn from the start that I just want to fully write my review and how I feel about this lakorn.

Firstly, the synopsis on here is partially correct. In this remake, Tawan is not related to Yadfad and her family (it is correct for the original version). Tawan lived with her mother and she's an online maid. Aside from the difference of Tawan and Yadfah not being related, they still follow the plot of Tawan being Yadah to marry Tohmon. Tawan occasionally work for Yadfah family. Tawan mother got sick and she needed money to pay her mom medical bill which led her to offer herself to be in place of Yadfah. I love a plot where FL is poor, independent, strong and striving. Tawan and Tohmom often run into each other but Tohmon never saw how she look like because Tawan always find a way to cover her face.

The first few episode were very comedic and rom-com that I will have to agreed that it is a bit too much. Some of the characters acting, the jokes, and the scenes overall was flat and dry. However, when you pass those scenes it's actually a good plot. The lakorn definitely took a turn and went to melo drama. Once the drama come on, oh boy, you better be prepared. You will feel so much hate and anger toward Tohmon.

I am very into a mean, cold-hearted, and heartless ML in lakorn so this plot was up my alley. Mai is such an amazing and underrated actor. I am so glad they chose Mai for this role. Mai played this character so well, he does such an amazing job at being an a-hole that I can't even hate him for long, he is so eye-candy. He does such a phenomenal job at conveying his expression. Mai carries out his jokes well and even his funny scenes. Not every actor can pull it off and Mai did great. As for Pie, this is her first FL role, I feel like she did great. She was able to portrayed her emotions, feelings, and expression well.

As for chemistry goes, I can see the chemistry between them. It is not those explosive and sexy chemistry but it's the kind of chemistry that make you still want to keep watching because both their acting are so good. Although, I was hoping for more of character development from Tohmon, his feelings toward Tawan wasn't as strong. It's the kind of lakorn where you can tell both leads have feelings for each other but it is not always as clear.

As for the nangrai, they are annoying but I definitely seen much worse, the nangrai in here are tolerable. Although I kind of wish that Sophit wasn't a bad person, in the episode she's very flirty with ML and he knows it too, he acknowledged her flirtiness but always reminds her that she is just his close friend. I was hoping that Sophit would just be the flirty secretary/friend who help Tohmon come to terms with his feelings for Tawan, but nope, Sophit just had to be a bad person.

Next is the backlash this lakorn received. There is a scene (episode 8-9) in here that may be a trigger to some audience. There is a scene that portrayed Tawan to be raped and everyone in the family has view Tawan differently. Rape is a very sensitive topic and never shall it ever be laugh at, make fun of or even joke about it. There should never be any victim blaming. I truly believe that there's not enough talk about rape in the community and there is no easy way to talk about it.

I understand that in the lakorn, especially Tohmon character could of assessed the situation better and be more supportive toward Tawan. In the episode, Tohmon character was portrayed as very disgusting of his wife after the incident. Every one of his actions definitely meant to be that way, perhaps. In my opinion, his actions came off that way, but he is just as hurt, he felt powerless as you can see his character changed. Tohmon actions were deeply rooted by pain of not being able to protect the person he love. He too went through a "traumatizing" incident of seeing his wife being kidnapped and "rape", not being able to do anything because he knows it is his fault to begin with. By no means I am justifying Tohmon and everyone else characters. He was definitely wrong for his actions.

With that said, I feel like this production took a risk and came upon a very sensitive topic that made many people upset. There is no easy way to address rape or rape survivors/victim blaming. This is the reality and the world we live in. As much as we want to perfect this topic in movies or lakorn, it is not perfect. There are ugly side to this topic as well. When we no longer talk about a topic or see it, (not just thai lakorn) it is so easily to forget that it does exist and that sympathy for the survivor is not always present. Don't twist my word and says that I am saying this is okay. I am simply saying, we see this happens in real life, we see how society treat some survivors and how much injustice there is in the world we live. I would of like it if the director, producer and writer included resources for the individual affected can seek help from. Both Tawan and Sophit went through a traumatizing event (we can see how this affected Sophit, her character changed, her mood switch, and she was always paranoid. This is the reality when a survivor went through a traumatizing incident). If there's anything that I am upset about, it's that the doctor didn't offer this help to Tawan.

I am sure many of you won't watch this lakorn after reading people comments and review. But honestly, you can read all of it and if this genre or topic is not for you, you are only wasting your time. At the end of the day, I know this is a scripted lakorn. People were already complaining that this lakorn was too comedic and now it is too dramatic. Either way, no lakorn is perfect. If you want to judge the logic of every lakorn then how can you ever enjoy them.

I genuinely like this lakorn and don't get me wrong, I was frustrated with Tohmon character but there's ways the innocent and hurt in his eyes when he see Tawan that just swoon me back in. It's has been a while that I can really say I enjoyed a lakorn from Ch3, their lakorn from last year was a huge disappointment for me. This one is so full of many emotions. I know some viewer will disagreed with me because of the direction they went and it also appears that this remake is completely different from the original. It's up to you to decide whether you want to watch or not. Be open minded and judge this yourself. If you do decide to watch it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

A 100% failure of a LAKORN

This is the worse Lakorn I have watched. I always measure the quality of storytelling and writing by the number of times I ask the 5 W's and 1 H. This is an endless drama that begs the viewer to ask" WHY, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHO and How? This is the underlying problem for this Lakorn because the storyline is unrealistic, the tolerance of injustices is unrealistic, the need to create "sexual" drama was unnecessary; the element of "revenge" was unnecessary, the failure to report crimes raising to the level of felonies is unbelievable, the use and the situational insertion of the "villian" - female and male were unrealistic. Then the writer tops it off with the element of "forgiveness" ---unrealistic. I can go on and on. There was hope for some reality at pivotal points in the story but the writer wasn't mature enough or creative enough to ask him/herself what would be the next logical reaction of a "NORMAL" person. The 7 deadly sins were all thrown around like a shuttlecock in a badminton game. Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Pride. The writer didn't fail to exclude one of these sins in this work. I would not recommend this drama to anyone and I truly felt sorrow for the translator who spent hours devoted to this piece. Just a piece of garbage at the end.

It is a good lakorn but it is not the best(watch it for you to know what I mean)

NOT too much spoiler!

Love happen when you least expected. There is no such thing as a perfect relationship it has it's flaws and imperfections it's up to the person who love to make it worth it despite the imperfection.
I find the synopsis a little bit misleading (for the first 6 episodes). It does not describe the main character/plot of the story. The FL is quite cute and innocent. But due to some circumstances she become a little bit cunning. I know every person who is cornered will do everything to survive even though the method is not the best method to do so. For the ML he is kind of not himself I mean he was into the character of his favorite lakorn that he forgot who he really is. Well we can't blame him its the way he is. The scenes are really funny and they made it light and easy to watch (for EP 1-6 so far). I will try not to give spoiler about it. I know for the upcoming episode it will be a little bit heavy scenes cause based on the trailer there would be. I'm confuse with the misunderstanding with the mother and daughter. I know that the daughter mean well for her mom not to know about she had done but at least she should explained it to her in order for her to redeem herself from being misjudge too much. Some of the viewers had a backlash on twitter with the FL. They blame her for everything when in reality it's not totally her fault. Anyway as the episodes goes on I feel bad for the FL and ML is kind of crazy fool. I know he is also hurt but he should not totally blame other people. I mean he should give others the benefit of the doubt. So as far as the story goes I am kind of excited how this lakorn will end I mean how would the writers will resolved the situation especially that it received a backlash on twitter about the R scenes hehehehe. I'm totally exited by the last few episode for this drama. Hopefully they give us a good conclusion for the story.
For the ost: It is on repeat for me <3<3<3<3 I love the OST for this series.
I probably watch this again in the near future if I forgot all about it. +_+
I would like to thank NEKO for subbing this lakorn ... SUSU!!!
For the cast and crew good job guys...stay safe.

Recommended to watch

I might disagree with other reviews.

For me, i enjoy the drama and the storyline was quite okay for me. It is not that bad as i took only 3 days to finish watching it. I love all the actor/actresses in the drama. They did a great job to portray their characters successfully. I believe that a good supporting role also play a big part in any drama. For both male & female lead, their chemistry is good and i love both of them. I enjoyed all the humours this drama could gives me. I have never get bored watching it. I would rate this drama 8/10 and if i can compared to kluen cheewit, i would preferred this drama.

If you don't like slap-kiss, asshole male lead and noisy villains this lakorn is not for you!

There is so much i want to write about this lakorn as i wait till it done first. Firstly, i love this story ! Everyone has their own opinion and basically i love everything about this lakorn except for episode 9 which I literally just skipped the whole scene where Tawan was kidnapped.
I was exposed to this story when I heard their ost in youtube and I loved it. So i decided to check out this lakorn as well as i've seen mai warit before in mia archeep and he's doing a good job being tohmoron. This is a slapkiss lakorn so basically i think ml is in need to be mean to the fl. If you expect them to be in peace, well you are in wrong boat.
STORY- I didnt enjoy comedy in lakorn and just fast forward the comedy scene, but in mia jum pen i enjoyed everything. Especially, when the tawan flew off the damaged motorcycle and ended up on tohmorn’s butt, hahaha. As for the sad scene, i didnt cry much as i was expected because i've seen spoiler before i watch it. But i cried when Toh's father died because he was a nice charachter there, why they made him died? As for tohmorn, he was in love with tawan since day one but doesnt dare to admit because he thought she was money faced woman. So he decided to marry her to keep her by his side. As for tawan, girl im telling you she was in love with tohmorn when they met at the shooting place. So basically they love each other in episode 1 but doesnt want to admit that keep the story to 15 episodes and hurtful scene.
MUSIC- I LOVE THEIR OST FULLSTOP.
Excuse for my grammar and language error im not an english speaker

Best LAKORN Ever

Really enjoyed watching it, the beginning and ending was superb . Though some people may have not enjoyed it, this was personally one of my favourite lakorns. The story was definitely a good one with some twists and turns. It had some elements of comedy and some very intense scenes.
Very good acting from pie and mai. You could really feel the chemistry between them was very good.
At some time khun toh pissed me off but after the story unfolded it got a lot better. But something that annoyed me a little was khun toh saying she is only with Tawan because of the child what would have happened if the child wasn’t his?
Totally recommend watching it very worth it.

Get ready for a whole lot of WTF moments!

If you’re looking for a drama with a strong, lovable male lead, this lakorn is not for you. Let me begin by saying the male lead in this lakorn have a long list of horrible characteristics that will make you just want to punch the screen and your blood pressure will go up. So if you are planning to watch this, get ready to rant and buckle up for a whole lot of WTF moments.

Personally, I did enjoy the rom-com like storyline of the whole arranged marriage concept with the twist of switching the actual bride from the rich family to our lovely female lead to deceive the male lead despite the whole backlash received due to a specific explicit rape scene on Episode 9 and the aftermath of that scene. Regarding this scene, I do have to agree with the audience and I find the backlash reasonable as this aired on a family-like channel which barely shows “lovey dovey” scenes (For example, most of the kissing scenes are usually edited out in their lakorns, but this scene went live and felt that it is inappropriate). However, the aftermath of the whole alleged rape is reality in some cases. Even though we all hated seeing the female lead facing negative reactions from people surrounding her (especially her husband), that is just reality.

Personally, even with the backlash, I did not feel like dropping this lakorn half way through, I wanted to see what goes on up until the end. Beginning to middle of the lakorn felt way too overdramatic for me. Like I found the male lead’s acting overdramatic and cringy in the beginning episodes. He definitely ended up in my list of worst male leads. Gem of the lakorn for me was the female lead. I loved her acting, loved her characteristics. I felt her acting made her character more realistic to the point where viewers felt her happiness and sorrow where at a point, I wished the female lead does not end up with the male lead and have their “happily ever after” ending. However, the last couple of episodes made their feelings more genuine (maybe because of the less overdramatic rom-com like acting). Most of the time, I enjoyed the lead couples FIN moments towards the end of the lakorn and I really wanted to see Jiew and Tee together! I thought they would make such a cute couple.

Overall, this is a decent lakorn. The plot was solid and ended very nicely. I loved the OST. The production was not the best (like the last episodes were edited badly, I believe they had to remove scenes and re-edit due to the backlash). Cast did a fantastic job as well. So I am definitely looking forward to see Pie Ramida and Bright in the future lakorns.

The old version was better

The story started off like a romantic comedy. It was refreshing to see that the writers were bringing a fresh new look to the story by applying new society norm to the lakorn . Then half way with the twist and turn it just ruined the story for me. I know a lot of viewer were upset with how the ML treated the FL after she got kidnapped. I think he was acting out of jealousy and didn't know how to sort out his emotions. It's a sensitive topic so I won't elaborate. Writers could have done a better job here too. Why I finished the lakorn? I was hopeful that the writers would redeem themselves but then they didn't. They tried but I think it just got sloppy towards the end. I like both Pie and Mai as actors but I probably wouldn't watch it again.

Good promising show turned into a mess

This lakorn had a very good first half i.e 1-8 episodes. I had enjoyed till that part. It started very good and was also funny at parts which i liked. I ve never seen in a drama where the ML likes to watch drama which is new to me and i like that addition. The FL was very funny.
The second half of the show is where the show turned into a mess. The FL got kidnapped and because of the clip that was sent by the kidnapper everyone assumes that she had been raped. But thats not the problem the problem is that after the FL is rescued the ML attitude and behavior towards her is very inhumane. Instead of comforting and supporting her after what she had gone through he started hating her and became very rude because she was assumed raped and that shes gonna give birth to their enemys (kidnapper) child . Whats worse is that He even took her to the place she was kidnapped and kept her there. On top of that she was even chained to prevent her to run away. Now those who ve watched may say that he was doing it for her safety because someone was trying to hurt her in the house. I am not not gonna buy into that shit because he could ve taken her to some other place why to the same place in a jungle where she has suffered and chained here there. Thats a very cowardly act even if he had good intentions. I even wanted to punch through the monitor while watching those scenes and i was very frustrated because i had enjoyed the first half and it turned into a shit. From episodes 8-14 i really wanted to give up because of all the nonsense that i was watching. But i persisted and finished the show. Even though it had happy ending i was not satisfied with the drama after all the suffering and hatred the FL had endured specially through the ML.

Side note - this drama has used a lot of the word Rape which i find it very concerning. And i dont know why thai dramas keep persisting on forced kisses. It doesnt look good to watch that someone is not willing and the other is forcing on her. Almost all thai dramas that i ve watched have this problem.
Cherry on a Mess - Pie rinrada is the reason i finished this drama else i would ve dropped it. It was the first time watching her and her acting is very good. Her smile is very pleasing. She's also young and i would love to see her in more leading roles in future.

Frustrating at the beginning but it gets better

There was so much hype and controversy surrounding this Lakorn that I of course HAD to watch it! Also because I find the ML, Mai Warit’s smile. absolutely enchanting! To be honest I was disappointed in him ... I don’t know if it was the script or the ML was trying to be funny but it just didn’t work for me. Way too much overacting I felt. But he did get better eventually. I loved the FL.... she was a strong woman from the get go which I like. There was so much controversy and anger over how the ML when the FL was supposedly’abused’. I agree that the victim blaming thing doesn’t help our society’s thinking at all. But I think I somewhat understand how the ML felt...I mean the phone call from the villain guy really did a number on him mentally. I think he did love the FL and he just couldn’t initially process it. I was glad that despite having THREE woman after the ML, even the psychotic villain wasn’t THAT psychotic. We see wayyy worse in other lakorns. I did enjoy the role of the really Yadfah... she was a hoot! overall I enjoyed the drama.

Good start but draggy in the middle

I enjoyed the first half, the comedy and acting of the all the artists were good and entertaining but towards the middle to the end it became draggy and some of their actions and behaviors became unacceptable. I understand the male lead's reaction for being lied to by the female lead although she had her valid reasons but when he didn't believe the child was his and brought the female back to where she was abducted and good heavens she wasn't r*ped, I found his action unreasonable. He was the reason she was abducted, it was his family's enemies. Also, he was easily forgiven by the female lead okay.
This is an okay lakorn but if compared with others, it falls short of the plot.
