Shen Shen, before departing, requests Cheng Ling to always take care of Gao Xiao Lian even if he doesn't marry her, to which he agrees. Ah'Xu enquires about Lao Wen's past to Gu Xiang, but decides to let the matter rest. Lao Wen has dreams recalling his entry to the Ghost Valley. He wakes up enraged and Ah' Xu helps him calm down, promising to help him get revenge on Zhao Jing with him. Lao Wen tells Gu Xiang that the Water of Lethe, that helps one forget their past obsession, had caused him to fall into coma. Back at the Scorpion's fortress, the scorpion king, still curious about Tragicomic ghost's crazed nature and the name "Jing" that she utters, tells Qian Qiao that she would be set free if she hands him the recipe of the Water of Lethe. Gu Xiang begs Lao Wen to leave the Gentle Wind Sword Sect alone as she had begun to grow feelings for Cao Wei Ning. Terrified of how he'd react if he knows her true identity, she confesses her fears to him. Lao Wen decides to free her from her fate, having chosen the worst path himself. He has a heart to heart talk to Cao, and explains their childhood adventures and her importance to him. He entrusts Xiang's safety to him. She departs for the Gentle Wind Sword Sect the next day. Ah'Xu becomes curious as to why he sent her away in a hurry. At Yueyang, Zhao Jing uses his cunning methods to gather some of the eight major sects to openly join the war against Ghost Valley after having their sects attacked.
