They are both school dramas that follow the leads into college and adulthood, even though Meeting You shows much more of the college life, unsurprisingly because it has 4 more episodes than When I Fly Towards You.

Other similarities:

- They both have cold/shy/closed off smart male leads and bubbly, sweet, extroverted female leads.
- Leads only have eyes for each other, but in Meeting You their love for one another is way, way more intense and obvious than in When I Fly Towards You.
- The second leads also like each other but their relationships don't happen until close to the end of the drama, although When I Fly Towards You is much better at handling the feelings of the second leads for one another, in Meeting You it drags a bit too long (it's balanced out with the loving relationship of the leads, though).
- There are small subplots about a third person chasing one of the leads, but they are mostly just used to show that the leads only like each other. In Meeting You, the girl chasing the male lead turns out to be an incredibly sweet person, however in When I Fly Towards You the girls chasing the male lead are very mean spirited.
- They both lack plots with misunderstandings that drag too long, and problems get resolved reasonably and quickly.
- They are both comforting and heartwarming in nature.

A story about the youth of this millennium follows a group of students who encounter ups and downs in the marathon of life. Ma Tian who comes from a well-off family and his goody-two-shoes neighbor An Ran transferred to an ordinary high school during their senior year; where they meet different kinds of people — Lao Gou (‘Old Dog’), Da Lijiao, Mimi, Da Zui (‘Big Mouth’) and Song Jie.

Both are youth-romance dramas, set in school (and out of school), set back in time (both within the 2000s), and both are centered around a close group of friends

Synopsis

The drama tells the story of how an ordinary girl Xia Guo chooses when faced with two different choices, and what happens. The drama is presented in parallel time and space. The different choices of the heroine will lead to different endings. There are the challenges and dilemmas of the big city; but on the other hand, there is the stability and triviality of the small town. In life it is always necessary to make concessions, without fear of loss, and moving forward to embrace that sense of the "extraordinary." If life could have other versions, and the "if" could be experienced, what would it look like? The drama realizes this "if" so that the heroine experiences two lives in parallel. How she will handle those choices is the big question.

"I live elsewhere" (from original title in chinese).

High school sweethearts to lovers in adult life
Difference:
-in wifty it's calmer? FL is energetic and cheerful extrovert but ML is introvert and more mature?
-in love next door I know ML is mature but in FL presence oh he's gonna match her energy alright

Similarities are big
Both are chinese school slice of life dramas
Roy Xie took part in both of them
While WIFTY is about ml/fl couple, the second is on a bromance side, both shows life of multiple friends

Both have great chemistry between the leads, both have bubbly and extroverted female leads, both have smart male leads, both have a supportive group of friends with all different interests, and both have many comedic moments.

Differences are that When I Fly Towards You is more of a romance than My Calorie Boy as the female lead spends the whole series chasing the male lead and her crush is obvious and adorable to watch while My Calorie Boy has a better best friends kind of base for their relationship. When I Fly Towards You also does a much better job of transitioning through time from their highschool to college to adult lives while in contract My Calorie Boy is almost exclusively just about highschool.

But if you were attracted to the friendships or the slice of life feel then I think you would enjoy both of these.

Both are youth dramas and have smart ML and not studious but lovable FL.
Friendship. School mates. First love.

Both dramas focus on the evolution of a romantic relationship between young protagonists. In When I Fly Towards You, the characters are navigating their high school and early college years, while Put Your Head on My Shoulder revolves around a university setting. In both dramas, the protagonists experience the ups and downs of first love, growing emotionally as they learn about themselves and their feelings.
Similarity: Both dramas capture the innocence, confusion, and excitement of young love, with a strong coming-of-age component as the characters mature through their experiences.

The trailer is giving wifty and the plot is lowkey the same!!!! I want it to air rnnnn! They all have a highschool theme place and highschool friendship! It kind of also giving a little of you are desire because of the move of the female lead. If you watch the trailer you'll see what I mean. I also love the male actors so.... The 2nd main lead, Zhai Xiao Wen is kinda giving Gu Ran from wifty of the personally and the female lead that goes with him is giving jiang jia from wifty. The other male lead, zhoukeyu is giving zhanglurang from wifty and the female lead going with him has the same personality as su zai zai! Over all, like all of the characters in this drama is matching up with wifty. (Disclaimer: I have only watched te trailer so I am not 100% sure)!!

Same strong healthy, unwavering relationship between the main leads. No stupid misunderstandings and break-ups. Very cute and fluffy!! In Love O2O, male lead chases female lead, but in WIFTY, it's the other way around. No second lead syndromes. Love O2O takes place in uni entering society, and WIFTY starts from high school.

Both dramas are set in modern times during youthful school years of the main cgaracter's lives. They share a common theme of slice of life and romance.

Closer to you is focused on building relationship with someone you really regret not talking much to.
The male lead chases the female lead and we get to hear his inner-monologue of regrets and hope.

When I Fly Towards You is focused on the present experience and going through the years together.
The female lead chases the male lead and mainly we see her perspective in this drama.

They both talk about the experience of a youth and share a plot of overcoming difficulties and differences together.

(Really recommend checking the other drama out if you liked this drama. The main reason is because its set in school setting and focus on slice of life.)

You say simp and the ML from LR and FL from WIFTY will compete to take the call ??

Though they have different genre high school and green flag friendship is what is the most common factor about both of them ?

P.S: Rewatch value 10/10 for both

Watched too many edits of SWDBS ML being the oldest, LR ML being the middle and FL WIFTY being the youngest child. ?
