Upcoming 2021 Thai Dramas Srinuan is the daughter of the village headman of Laantey, Ayudhaya. She is extremely beautiful and gifted in martial arts. These qualities lead to a continuous line of men who are always willing to win the heart of Srinuan. One of these suitors is Saming. Lersun, a military cadet and son of the governor, decides to one day travel to Laantey during his school break. This is where he happens to see Srinuan for the first time while she is performing the traditional dance. It is love at first sight. This love is soon reciprocated and both Lersun and Srinuan quickly lose themselves to the depths of love and passion. Eventually, school break comes to an end and Lersun has to go return. Before he leaves, he promises Srinuan that he will return and marry her. Unfortunately, upon his return, Lersun gets into an accident and loses his memories — completely forgetting about Srinuan. In Bangkok, his mother arranges a marriage between him and Sroipetch who is the daughter of another prominent figure. Meanwhile, Srinuan also travels to Bangkok in order to meet her lover. Upon her arrival, she is faced with the heartbreak of Lersun behaving as if he does not know her and returns back to Laantey, heartbroken. Twenty years pass and Lersun becomes a deputy commissioner. He also has a daughter and a son with Sroipetch. Srinuan, on the other hand, also has a daughter called Dao — who is just as beautiful and talented as her mother. This is a period action drama with fantasy elements. The story is set in the early 1960s-70s. It was previously made into a movie under a different title and was very popular in the past. It has been remade many times, and each version has been successful. The story is set in Ayutthaya province.
The protagonist, Saming, is framed as a notorious bandit and the murderer of the district chief. He is in love with Srinuan, but she becomes involved with Luesan, the governor's son from Bangkok. They are separated and unable to marry, and Srinuan becomes a single mother. The story focuses on two generations: the generation of Saming, the bandit, and the generation of Srinuan's children.
The show features action-packed fight scenes that are designed to be entertaining and visually appealing, as well as four romantic storylines.
The first two couples are from the older generation, with the actors being youthful and attractive, including both Saming and Luesan. The other two couples are from the younger generation, and they are portrayed excellently, especially the couple of Soidao (PP Punpreedee) and the Captain (Ryu Vachirawich), who is undercover to catch the bandit. Trust me, everyone who watches this show will love these two.
If you're not interested in the romance, there's still plenty of action, investigation, and fun fantasy elements to enjoy. Additionally, the show's CG and production are spectacular, featuring explosive boat scenes, burning huts, and truly hilarious comedic moments.
You'll get to see the houses, lifestyles, and beliefs of Thais in the olden days, especially the lives of people living on boats along the Chao Phraya River, which are now almost nonexistent.
The fighting techniques in the action scenes are beautifully executed, and the younger actors perform admirably. One particularly famous scene, which has been widely shared on TikTok, is where Ryu carries PP with one arm while fighting.
I believe everyone who watches it will feel good immediately after finishing. I might deduct some points for the unrealistic in some scenes, but then again, it's fantasy. You can easily overlook those aspects.
