another very bitter sweet ep - Ju's proclamation…

another very bitter sweet ep - Ju's proclamation was turned funny by his approach, while Rocky's retreat which added to the fun, was also an indicator that he, scared - and u could see/read the fear on his face. the problem is that Ju was assuming, it was a "normal" reaction every straight dude would have, when someone "out and proud" made a statement like that. he doesn't comprehend that there is something more going on with Rocky. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************from the 1st ep there have been very subtle hints to Rocky's fear... so here as long as it's fun and games, he was able to laugh it off. but the sec Ju says anything that comes off, as him insinuating that Rocky is 'made of the same cloth' he get's defensive - like when Ju innocently told him "...deep down they r alike..." - he never meant that Rocky was gay, but that personality wise they were more or less the same, or the fact that they both were suffering all alone. but as Rocky scared to the bone of being outted, anyone mention that word, is enraging - thus his reaction. lashing out and hurting poor Ju, who was really shining in this ep - ****************************************************************************************************************************************from the start he was pretty subdued, and only in this ep u notice, that he was indeed depressed. he might have acted like he "didn't have a care in the world" and he was A-o.k. but here u see him come to life. he was happy and full of joy, flirty and fun - so Rocky's lashing out was uncalled for - yeah he's running scared and usually a scared, injured animal will lash out and attack in defense. but Rocky not a freakin animal, he's human and he should've tired to find a better way to say "no, thank you" as he knew that Ju was also in a very vulnerable place, and hurting no less then he himself - but it is what it is - sad reality... **************************************************************************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************************************************************************so the whole next scene takes me back to the start of this ep, and what i wrote in the previous ep - about alcohol and how worrisome i found that every real moment these two have, is clouded by a haze of alcohol - which enables them to be very honest. but it also can make them say and do things, that they might end up regretting when they sober up. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************Ju's one sided conversation with Beshie, which is more a confession of his feelings about Rocky - to Rocky, unbeknownst to Ju (as he doesn't know Rocky on the other side listening in) and then Rocky's reading the last texts his mother sent him (their last conversation) were it's her acceptance, about knowing he is gay and telling him not to run away, that she is there for him - that's why he was crying. the reason he went to Ju was cause Ju's confession was more or less the same sentiment. that moment Ju's words brought it all home to him, and that's why he went to Ju - but does this mean he is ready to "come out"?!? his initial worries and fears haven't been dealt with or elevated, so the outcome isn't gonna be positive - again sad and so predictable.... aish

Just WOW

I was expecting this to be a little more "average" compared to few other Filipino shows I like but this one episode just boosted the quality of the whole series. The way Rocky was mad, the way he reacted, and even the way he reacted few times in the past, all along with those messages was just a superbly written plotline. [+aight just finished watching, I can do without the NC lol but not complaining very much.]

Quaranthings: The Series (2020) Episode 4: Sardines

Four episodes in and I still can't remember any dull moment from this series. I'm just so amazed how each episode has kept me interested and invested. Episode 4: Sardines was funny, sad, and steamy. The efforts made by Judah to woo Rocky were hilarious. The movie date, the meal date, and the powerpoint presentation were all humorous and witty. Kyo and Royce had exceptional chemistry during these scenes. The dramatic scenes were heartbreaking. I was sad for both Judah and Rocky. Kyo was quite good on this episode while Royce was something else. He's a natural. He never overacts. Everything's just right with his acting. While I generally have issues with drunk sex (because it's not always between two consenting individuals), the sex scene was so tastefully done, I really can't complain. Or maybe I have a complaint? Lol. Maybe next time, no more camera tricks on the kissing, please? Lol. The last lines were relevant to our understanding of both Judah and Rocky. I love how this series is able to give us well thought-out character backgrounds for both Judah and Rocky. As for the production technicals, I'm impressed with how they're able to make do with their limited budget. I can only imagine how even better this series would have been with more finances and resources. The OST "Ipu-Ipo" performed by Kyo sounded good. All in all, Episode 4 was another excellent episode from Quaranthings: The Series.
