Three Stars

the morning after - the rude awakening. could say 'called it' but anyone - including the ones involved, would be able to 'call it', but emotions were running wild, the heart ruled, add alcohol to the mix, so we get what we got. **********************************Ju was elated waking up in Rocky's arms, but he should've known better. and as happy as Rocky was - for a sec, in a blink reality invaded in the shape of his sister (even though he didn't need her to "wake-up"), her call just came as a reminder off everything, mainly his fears. ****************************************************************************************************************************************and this off topic - i get his family poor, he the only breadwinner, let alone the only other adult - sick and the sister still a kid in school. so she has no other person to turn too (and she been putting off that call for over a week). but when u already carrying this enormous burden, add the pandemic - making keeping a job or finding one, near impossible, that call just seems too me - as burdensome - ************************************************************************************************************************but her confession and his reaction should've made Ju 'stop and take note' - not the fact that he told her he was all alone (which was also a sign of how he felt 'the morning after') but when she confessed, his knee-jerk-reaction was "how did dad react - what did he say..." that's an indicator that he is not ready to be in a relationship with a man. but poor lonely desperate for love Ju, was ready to keep trying (that was heartbreaking to watch - him putting on a brave smile, apologizing unnecessarily aish that hurt me...), even though Rocky was being mean just cause he was running scared. and it was easier to hurt and push Ju away - then confront his own demons and admit that he was scared, cause he liked what happened between them - i.e he was gay. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** they both have valid reasons to act crazy the night before. like i get Ju's desperately, 'trying' in the face to Rocky abrasive even repulsed attitude, or Rocky's running scared - feel bad for both of them - even though if i was Judah, would punch Rocky in the face, for being a freakin coward that's basically running away - a treating him like dirt the morning after, cause he couldn't "deal", acting like he was forced into bed. his anger is escapism. easier pushing Ju away instead of dealing with who he is. easier, just running away - ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** this is why drunk sex is a no no, especially when it's ur first time (like it was with Ju - btw in the previous ep he kept talking about being 'good in bed' and 'being able to satisfy Rocky's every need' that guess work?!?) that aside. dude already head-over heels and is getting heartache for rushing blindly at someone who has a ton of baggage he needs to sort out first - before he ready for anything... sad and frustrating - but that's people for u, everyone and their personal baggage... either hurting themselves or others ugh

THIS SUCKS. BUT I LOVE IT.

I’m so mad!!! I knew this was gonna happen, I mean I had a feeling, and I’m so upset that I was right. Also, Judah at the end???? I’m VERY concerned. Rocky better man up in the next episode or I’m gonna be a freaking mess.

Quaranthings: The Series (2020) Episode 5: Soap

What a heartbreaking episode! Episode 5: Soap was a really good, but very sad, episode. The plot/storyline, focused on Judah and Rocky's self-discoveries, progressed on this episode. While at times both Judah and Rocky were annoying -- Judah with his arrogance and his disrespect for Rocky's privacy (by taking and posting Rocky's picture and going through his phone messages without permission) and Rocky with his internalized homophobia -- I still can't help it but emphatize and symphatize with both characters. Because of the solid character backgrounds laid out on the previous episodes, I totally get it why they are the way they are. On the last three episodes, I expect to witness their character developments. Screenplay was beautiful. While a bit idealistic and naive, this line was still perfect: "It's 2020. Gender is fluid. Homophobia is so outdated." I also liked their exchanges during the last scene when Rocky was avoiding to directly respond to Judah's questions. Those exchanges showed that they don't see eye to eye about a lot of things but they also care deeply for each other. Acting was generally on point. I was impressed with Kyo. He was really good on this episode. I felt miserable seeing Judah sad. Production value was generally ok. With five episodes released, Quaranthings has proven that it's a top-tier Filipino (Pinoy) boys' love (BL) series. With three episodes left, I hope the series finish strong.
