Daddy O, Baby O! (2000)

In obliging the last request of his dying friend Arnold, ambulant school vendor Mario takes in Arnold's daughter Anna. But sweet-faced Anna is no angel: street savvy and charismatic, she is used to having her own way on things, especially on what she wants. Anna's lone-wolf personality clashes with conscientious and family-oriented Mario, but eventually the two manage to find a common ground: since Anna wants nothing more than to be reunited with her affluent mother who lives in Cebu--and Mario wants nothing more than Anna getting off his back--the two work hard on having the means to find her. But just as they find themselves growing fond for each other, a series of events sever their still-tender ties, leaving each disconsolate yet missing the familial affection they already have for each other.
