A part-time worker at a convenient store, Ji Eun looks forward to receiving her severance pay. Except for the final sequence, the camera remains inside the convenient store where she works. As she moves about and talks to people in that small space, we learn about her dreams, harsh work environments and current housing problems. In that sense, the convenient store is a microcosm of the Korean labor market. Ji Eun represents the lost voices of those who believed they’d be rewarded for their hard work. Young people entering the real world may insist upon their rights but the only answer available to them is ‘You know nothing about the world.’ The only way Ji Eun can fight back is by making a mess in the store.
