An experimental essay by Chinese filmmaker & documentarian Rong Guang Rong. Rong tries to go to a remote mountain village of Guizhou, China to visit children who commit suicide. However, the journey to answer the questions he had as a father reminds him of his fears and memories; it makes him deal with children survivors, bureaucrats and organized crime. What makes children from age 5 to 14 abandon this world? In 2015, the director seeks an answer to this. But he gets arrested, intimidated and even gets his film confiscated. Being in trouble, Rong seeks new ways to notify the incident. The narrative of this film is controversial as it makes people hesitate ethical judgment on a tragedy. This experimental poetic documentary captures the tragedy of the children in difficult image to decipher. Should we support this artistic liberalism? (Source: JIFF) Edit Translation
