After the torture, as she is linning on the wall of this dark and dirty prison cell.For the very first time, Mei Lin notices the undying flowers fighting their way to life. She crawls painfully at this living beacon of hope. In case she lie down by them, would she be able to sense their fragrance? As she slowly whispers « un- dy- ing ». Prince Jing, who was watching her with admiration and care, also slowly whispers « un- dy- ing ». They just vowed to survive that deadly quest. The undying flower represent them. Mei Lin and Murong Jing He must live. They just made an oath of survival.

At the beginning of ep. 3 we have Jinghe drunk painting a picture of a woman, back towards us, reaching towards a branch with blossoms. She has a dress with blue patterns and a white shawl. Someone grabs his hand and he responds, "Beauty" tries to kiss the hand. I wondered who the woman in the painting was. But 'Beauty' would indicate that it was Mei Lin and the kiss shows that by ep. 3, he had feelings for her, More than the gossip and our understanding of the character would indicate.
