Kill Me Love Me Episode 4 Reactions
Jing He was in his office getting drunk on wine. The maid, a friend of his mother, came to advise him, reminding him that Jing He's mother had always wanted him to be happy. But he replied: "We don't deserve to be happy." He was observing the flowers that appeared in the cracks in the stones of his courtyard, and the maid said to him: If he likes these immortal flowers, he could put them in a vase. He stopped in interest when he heard the name of the flower (as if he didn't know or remember), but replied again: These flowers are not immortal, in the first storm they will be crushed. But the next moment he approached the little flower and smiled gently, touching the flower's petals, while repeating the name: immortal. But when he got up from the ground, he stepped on the flowers (was this already a warning about how the end of the drama would be???). But after the conversation with Mei Lin in prison, at the door of the imperial prison was Yue Qin who immediately realized that his plan to save Mei Lin had gone wrong. In Jing He's office, playing chess, he talked to Yue Qin. Jing He deciphered Yue Qin's intentions, which was to save Mei Lin. JH, in order to test YQ, stated that the best solution between Xian and Yan in this situation would be to execute the prisoner (at this point, Yue Qin got scared and said no). JH warned him not to interfere in these matters, remembering that YQ is a hostage prince, and that this would not help the case. The crown prince talks to his subordinate, Zhang. He orders that 300 Momai warriors be eliminated to prevent him from being exposed. Zhang would like to solve the problem involving the prince of Xian (in the murder of Mei Lin), but the CP did not agree, saying that this would only make the situation worse. Prince Jing appears before his father emperor and convinces him not to execute Mei Lin, arguing that it is better for the people to think that he is a lecher and that is why the beauty of Xian wanted to kill him. (His father says he is not a pervert as they would believe. But Jing He argues that it would not be difficult since they believe he was a general capable of executing civilians and his army. The emperor father reprimands him for many things, but Jing He remains humble before his father. The concubine Zi Gu appears before the majesty and also blames Jing He for what is happening to Mei Lin and joins the chorus that asks him to spare Mei Lin.
Then, in the execution square, Mei Lin is prepared in front of everyone to be whipped, as she will be spared death, but the punishment will be flogging. The crown prince wants to take advantage of the moment to kill her and thus take away a useful pawn for his brother. The whip prepared with metal spikes would be used, but Jing He introduces himself and says that he will be the one to whip her, since he is the one who suffered the assassination attempt. He exchanges the deadly whip for one made only of leather. And when whipping her he used a pressure that prevented him from hurting her more severely (still, it would be impossible to hurt her even a little). When he finished whipping her, he approached her and said that "Even if you hate me, I cannot bear to hurt the beauty. You tried to murder me, I whipped you. We must consider our differences resolved." And Mei Lin says to him: Thank you for saving me. And in front of everyone, with her in his arms, JH says: She is mine, I decide whether she should live or die. And looking at his brother: “The Eastern Palace doesn’t need to worry about this.” Then, in front of everyone’s eyes, he goes downstairs with her in his arms. Yue Qin and the subordinate believe that JH saved her due to the conversation he had with the prince earlier. Jing He takes her to her chambers and asks for the army insignia that she promised to give him. She tells him where she hid it. And she soon asks if he knows who the real culprits are.
Jing He leaves the chamber and becomes dizzy, but his aide supports him a little. JH calms him down and says: I’m fine. While taking the medicine for the heart meridian due to the effort of containing the force of the whip, he answered the aide’s question regarding the lifespan of Mei Lin (the poison that is about to collapse). But JH remembers the healer telling him about the coix seeds (which neutralizes various toxins). JH then says, “She cannot die” (i.e. the name of the immortal flower), and what she said to him just now: “That the two of them live for the dead and cannot die until the wronged people are laid to rest in peace.” Yue Qin stops in front of Mei Lin’s room door and asks his friend if he looks good, and his friend says yes. Yue Qin remembers 10 years ago when he met Mei Lin in a cave, when they were fleeing the burning of Qingzhou. She kindly wove a string into the shape of a Qingzhou insignia (a symbol that would make the soldiers at the cave door allow them to leave). Just moments ago he told his friend and helper (that he should have died in Qingzhou). But now when Mei Lin holds his hand and tells him to go forward, that the road will get brighter ahead, he feels hopeful and has never forgotten that moment. Back in the present, Yue Qin enters the room and talks to Mei Lin, telling her that he can never repay the favor she did him years ago. He says that when he fled Qingzhou, the kingdom of Xian abandoned him and if it weren't for her, he wouldn't be here today. But Mei Lin retorts by saying that he saved himself. She explains that he was repaying the favor he did her by freeing all the servants of Qingzhou and she and her family were among them. Yue Qin tells her that she gave him a reason to survive. He takes the opportunity to give her some advice: the prince of Xian is dangerous, it wouldn't be so easy to carry out the revenge plan. But she says that she just wants to live well. And that the denguo cakes he gave her already work as retribution. He takes the opportunity to give Her some tonics. As Yue Qin leaves, he sees Mei Lin feeling a little unwell (but he probably thought it was due to the whipping, but in fact he was referring to the poison in her body taking effect). She remembered the cox seeds at that moment.
Prince Murong Xuan Li is feeding his dangerous eagle. Minister Zhang arrives and informs him that he has already eliminated the 300 Momai warriors. Minister Zhang uses cunning and says that he can even die with the death penalty for the crimes he committed, but Prince Xuan Li should worry about Prince JH, because if he clears his name and becomes a general again, he would soon also resume the title of crown prince. Zhang leaves, and Xuan Li tells his other subordinate to eliminate the 300 Momai soldiers (who Zhang probably kept alive). The episode ends with Prince Xuan Li's joy upon learning that the female general Luo Mei has just arrived. The last scene is Luo Mei looking like a great heroine, dressed in her armor, coming at a run on her horse to Yan.
PS:
A question: Don't the Momai warriors belong to the shadow army? Who is the leader after all? Are there two factions? And one belongs to JH and the other to Xuan Li?
Some of them are used in assassination attempts on JH. But among the other part would be Mei Lin trained by Jing He? (Why did Jing He tell Mei Lin that she was abandoned by the shadow army? And she told him that he should worry because the shadow army would not give up on killing him. (This part of the plot is a bit confusing).

Don't the Momai warriors belong to the shadow army?
No, Mei Lin was trained by "The Shadow works Faction" for the planned revenge. However, to frame war Minister Zhang YIn and the momai army. Prince Jing poisoned Mei Lin with Momai poison. So as to mimic the way Momai warriors operate. So that, when Mei Lin would die assassinating Prince Jing at the royal banquet. War Minister Zhang Yin would be suspected. This is why Mei Lin thought that Zhang Yin was the Master of Shadow Works.
Long story short Jing He created a fake Momai army to frame Momai army.
The leader of Momai army is Minister Zhang.
The leader of Eastern place guards is Crown Prince MRXL.
The leader od Shadow work faction in MRJH

"But when he got up from the ground, he stepped on the flowers (was this already a warning about how the end of the drama would be???)."
To me he didn't step on the flowers but besides them. Because the flowers were still vertical and not horizontal. I saw his foot passing very near though. But the flower did not seem smashed. Am I dreaming?

I've rewatched this scene 3 times now. I think he really did step on it, but the flowers still stood firm (so...it's like the ending plot doesn't match up with it. Again, the symbolism of "survival"/"immortality" (in this life).
