Each actor was wisely chosen for their part and the way they all worked well with each other was superb! The chemistry between each person was felt throughout the movie. I felt like I was watching a special episode of the anime, the characters in this live-action fit so well to the original characters of the anime. Definitely a fantastically made anime to live-action movie.

Overall, the movie was not that bad. It included most (but not all) of the characters and had a lot of jokes from the anime - although I do wish it included more, but it's understandable why there weren't that many. This movie is very funny and I really like how they based it on the festival from the anime, although I must admit, I was rather disappointed about the girls in the movie as not only were they very different from the original characters, but they were also in it a lot more which I felt took away from the point of it being about the boys. Also I must admit I did not approve of how they incorporated Ringo's character as she was a completely different person... However I think Nomura Shuhei slayed as Tanaka~!
All in all it was a good, funny movie but did not do the anime justice.

First half good. Second half meh.
For me this was a tale of two parts. First half of the movie I was genuinely amused. I was giggling really often mostly because I was constantly like omg these boys are being so stupid that it's frickin' hilarious like the whole thing with the bathroom, or the dramatics of just handing over a roll of tape. (I wouldn't count these as spoilers). But then I hit the 2nd half of the movie and it started to drag. I noticed myself getting fidgety, going on my phone. I guess the school festival parts were too long and tempted me to do some skipping. As for the cast, although nobody really stood out, they were all reasonably believable to me as a bunch of high school boys and girls. The only memorable one for me was Yoshitake, but that's because he's the only actor I recognized from elsewhere. At some point during the movie I realized he played Taichi in Chihayafuru live action except with very different hair. Didn't take note of any music so I guess it must've been either sufficient without standing out or it was a movie without much music. I would not rewatch the movie again, but wouldn't mind rewatching clips of some scenes. Was this review helpful to you?
