Worth watching

I like to read and to watch again and again this omniscient reader even though that they change it but it’s understandable since they put in first chapter about the prophecy so i don’t think there’s a problem with that, i hope they'll continue to make it more like this .. they make it my dream come true about the manga and in reality 🥰 thank you for the cast and the director who made it

ok... i don’t think this deserves the hate it is getting

As a novel reader, I knew this would be vastly different from the webnovel and it should not be treated as an insult to the OG.

You all need to realize that a web novel and live action are two entirely different dishes. The author had the liberty of using many constellations that have some real influence in many cultures and pitted them against each other. There were even instances of turning an actual god into a despicable villain. There were also instances where they used actual historical figures who were part of the Japan vs Korea history (I am talking about Lee Ji Hye). A web novel can get away with all this because the target audience usually overlooks such things when they come across certain sections (I am from India, and the author just off'd a few Hindu gods). A webnovel doesn’t cause controversy at a large scale that would actually impact how it is received/rated/monetized.

Now think of a movie that you want to release worldwide with a star-studded cast, a predominantly CGI-based shoot. Imagine the millions that go into the pre-, during, and post-production. They would need to tread carefully with the historical and mythological figures; otherwise, it might just get banned or get embroiled in a controversy that derails its collections. I wasn’t surprised that they were just showing us the constellation of Jung Hui Won among so many constellations.

Coming to the point of being too fast-paced, it's a 1.5-hour movie, unlike LOTR. If you put too less chapters and focus primarily on character development, you would end the movie at the first station itself.

You need to first understand why such decisions were taken and then give reviews. Game of thrones would have got trash reviews if it were a 3 part movie. This is definitely not a sub 7 movie.

It's just bad, nothing is salvagable.

The cinematic is bad. The story is bad, which in turn the acting is also bad. Everything is just BAD. A waste of time, the second hand embarrassment at every scene and minute it's not even funny. YSA got dumbed down and stripped of her battle with everyday misogyny like a healer seriously, SHE'S A FIGHTER. Jung Heewon was never a part of TWSA but got retconned into it horribly. He trauma and assault were just used as trophy instead of looking at the horror of it. Lee Jihye uses guns, the women of ORV were tossed aside for director's incel view of making profit instead of making a story translate. Kim Dokja would hate this

my very honest opinion

bring back the 2 hours I have wasted on watching this shit. it was sooooooooo bad, they could use the money they spent creating this garbage on something useful. now I have to write 300 characters just to say how awful this movie was. I needed only 4 SHIT. I honestly want to know the thoughts of the sctors after they watched the movie. I bet they thought "at least we got payed. let's forget that I took part in THAT."

A very thrilling movie

I don't understand why everyone sees this so negative this is a really good action movie.

The story isn't the deepest (its an action movie...) but enjoyable for the duration of the film. It is something new and the plot is also very thrilling.

It's good that this is just a film, a drama would have dragged things out.
The SGI is high quality. The acting is also amazing (I mean the Cast!?!).

I think it has everything required for a good action movie!
I'd really recommend to watch it...

not worth watching

If you want a work to be appreciated, you should learn how to appreciate an original work first. Why? Because the story presented in this film is truly the worst story. It really doesn't depict what the Omniscient Reader Viewpoint is all about. They just destroy the story that ShingNShong and I have worked so hard to write. and i really regret watching it, If you want to watch this film, it's best to watch it in an illegal place, because this is just trash that failed to be recycled. trust me this time

this shit is extremely disappointing

My english isn’t the best, but my writing is still better than the live action’s degenerate of a director.
My opinion is that no human being that went through reading at least one chapter of ORV and has an IQ above zero can call this disgrace a “live action”.
“Fresh perspective” my ass. The director is a misogynistic annoying piece of shit that deserves jail time for destroying ORV’s plot, characters, world building and basically the entire novel.
My most beloved story was ruined. YSA, a strong woman capable of killing lots of enemies with her threads turned into a healer, healing her companions with said threads?? KDJ, his entire backstory of being a victim of abuse and bullying, him killing his dad and his mom going to jail for it - it’s all gone, now KDJ wants to save the world, not to have a happy ending with his favorite characters that have been saving him throughout his painful life?? YJH is now irrelevant, HSY is nonexistent.. oh, i’m getting upset just by typing this all, let’s wrap it up.
Well, what else could come out of a live action that was promoted using AI multiple times.. sigh….
In conclusion, I’m just gonna wish the director of the live action the worst downfall imaginable in the entertainment industry.
Never watch this shit legally, those bastards don’t deserve any money for creating this nonsense.

This was a mess

Full disclosure, I have not read the source material on which this movie is based. So far it seems the movie adapted part of the webtoon but I cannot judge how well they did. However, not knowing the lore, I found the story all over the place, the characterization very poor and the CGI pretty weak.

Even though there are some interesting aspect to the story itself and I was entertained to some degree, it feels quite typical of some isekai / leveling up action story already out there. But it also feels super messy with the hero having like a cheat code, making the tension void. There also too many characters to build properly the relationships in the span of one movie. Even if I like the cast, I was not impressed by any of their performances...It might have been more the fault of the script than their acting but it felt flat for the most part.

I would not recommend this as it feels very messy and quite generic overall. I watched for the cast, but even them could not save the movie.

DO NOT WATCH IT

1. they used AI and chatgpt for ads promotion
2. they disrespect the original story, change almost everything
3. they disrespect the original readers of ORV
4. worst CGI effect
5. they dare change dokja and the author of his favorite novel, makes him hate the ending of the story
6. not only dokja (the MC), they change YJH Sangah, his mother, etc too
7. dokkaebi visual is the worst
8. why there's coins when it supposed to be bl*od

Not worthy of being called an "adaption"

As a novel+manhwa reader the story got completely butchered. At this point they should just change the names of the characters and make it an original work because this isn't our Orv. What happened to Kim Dokja? He isn't a hero he's a morally grey character. And why is Yoo Sangah a healer? The cgi is really bad too.

It's a fun popcorn flick

Is it a bad idea to make a live action orv movie? Yes. Will it lose all the good things of the web novel? Yes. Will it feel rushed? Yes again.

But, if we forget it the burden of orv adaptation and, treat it as a fun-popcorn flick... It works. The cast is really good, the world is interesting, enjoyable action sequences and, great visual effects. The pacing is also very fast, we are jumping from one interesting situation to another plus the movie is under 2 hours.. All of it makes it a fun popcorn flick.

I can understand, why fans hate it but, I think casual movie goers who know nothing about the world of orv they might enjoyed it. Also, you cannot turn orv into a live action movie, live-action tv series? Yes, Anime? Yes (Crunchyroll already making one) so hard core fans have to wait.

The negativity was to high for this movie adaptation even before it was released, so, I think the negativity kind of killed the movie. Otherwise, it’s an enjoyable movie.

Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy

I feel like I'am a queen of unpopular opinions this year, but well what can I do? I really like it and had good time.
So disclaimer: I did not read book/manhwa - probably will not, only because of huge To be read list, cause this movie totally made me curious about it. More disclaimer: I do not care if adaptation is 1:1 with original material, I really do not give a sh*t about it. Also I often watch something before I read it and that made me want to read. And even if I read something and then watch adaptation I expect it to be different, that is a whole point for me - to make it not exactly the same. For example I love Percy Jackson's movie - I loved every single book which I read because of movie - but I do not like series, which is more book accurate. Same thing with shadowhunters.
Moving on - I love this film and can not wait for more (although I prefer series) - it was so fun I totally consider watching again. love how some moments it looked like game or actors looked animated. Simply totally my vibe.
Because I do not know original material changes does not matter to me at all.
Acting - in my opinion was very good. Story went pretty fast, there was no boring moment.
Jisoo - she will be the only one I talk more about - simply because I like her acting and I know it was more than controversial :she did amazing, she really did (she need more roles like this), also her screentime was good in my opinion, we had a little of her background, she slayed her scenes, was totally badass and stood out - more screen time would make less impact, so in the end it was in her favour.
To sum up - if you like a genre, then a must have!
