Park Dae-jong, president of Sehwa Cement, is renowned for his diligence, sincerity, and economy. With a strong view of the country, he believes that making a company that wins the competition by working hard is the way to contribute to the country. He expects his son Young-beom, a medical student, to work with him, but Young-beom doesn't think so. Youngbeom leads the rural revival movement, thinking that it is right to go out with the people who are left behind rather than just go ahead. Daejong, who does not understand such a son, refuses to support money, so there is always a series of discord between the rich. Also, Youngbeom is in love with Gyeong-ae, whom she met while in school, and is serving in her hometown rural village. But there are challenges to their love. One day, Gyeong-ae's brother assaults and insults Young-beom, and tries to marry Gyeong-ae and Park Cham-sa's son. However, Gyeong-ae directly criticizes Park Cham-sa and his son Kori-chae in front of him, and angry Park Cha-sa tries to take their home. So, her brother falls into despair, and Kyeong-ae, who thinks that he is not good for both Young-beom and her brother, leaves a suicide note against Gori-chae.
