Brings up the conspiracy theory of Reptilians
Do you think those Earth fiends are the menace from outside? They are very well our primal instincts. Most people kill to eat and survive! Even if they are not the butcher themselves. Primal instincts, from the depths of our evolution are hard to hack and avoid. If you kill these desires, you kill yourself! Like the legendary serpent guarding the Golden fleece, you have to put it in sleep! Not slaughter! How can the drama escalate without a major character's death? It's the self-sacrifice. But it's not the wisest choice. But it's not only the allegory of our hidden nature. It's an overt allusion to the mixed beasts that walk and live around us and they dominate us! The wars and shrewd businesspeople are not the result of human empathy or idealism! Please beware of the hidden race...maybe the Reptilians...Or those bunny-hounds! I never met them...but then, why would they reveal their nature? Why wage a war against them? Their inhumanity causes the human race to bleed, in a civil genocide...

Love on the Turquoise Land
Dramas Reviews (Covering 12 Episodes Released)Love on the Turquoise Land stands out as one of the boldest Chinese dramas of the year, refusing to follow the typical fantasy formula. Across its first twelve episodes, the show blends thriller elements, mythology, sharp humor, and strong character dynamics into a world that feels both strange and compelling.
Episodes 1–3 deliver the most gripping start. The drama wastes no time throwing viewers into an eerie atmosphere with the sudden appearance of the mysterious earth creatures. Every moment is crafted to stir fear, tension, and curiosity. Many viewers consider these early episodes the peak of the show’s suspense—the pacing is tight, the surprises are effective, and the world feels hauntingly alive.
From episodes 4–6, the story transitions into a different rhythm. The intensity settles, making space for character relationships to take the spotlight. The dialogue becomes the drama’s strongest weapon. Nie Jiu Luo and Yan Tuo, in particular, create the most memorable dynamic—not romantic, but undeniably electric. Their exchanges are sharp, teasing, and filled with bite. Nie Jiu Luo’s blunt personality shines through purely in the way he speaks, and the back-and-forth between him and Yan Tuo injects natural humor into the show.
Episodes 7–9 expand the cast with supporting characters who actually matter. Madam Lin emerges as a standout presence. Every scene she appears in carries a sense of danger. She instills genuine fear in Lin Ling, and her confrontational tension with Yan Tuo gives the mid-series episodes a pulse even when the action scenes decrease. Her character elevates the atmosphere simply by existing onscreen.
On the other hand, Xing Shen remains the most intriguing figure throughout the first 12 episodes. He is mysterious, calm, and clearly carrying motives the story hasn’t revealed yet. His interactions with Nie Jiu Luo and especially Belalang add unexpected emotional depth. The friendship between Xing Shen and Belalang feels layered—hinting that future episodes may uncover betrayal, sacrifice, or a stronger emotional bond than viewers initially assumed.
Episodes 10–12 begin to chart the larger narrative direction. The mystery of the earth creatures resurfaces, and the world-building becomes richer. The show hints at ancient secrets, political conspiracies, and hidden alliances that could reshape the entire plot. While the action intensity doesn’t return to the explosive start of episode one, the drama shifts toward thoughtful expansion—focusing on lore, relationships, and long-term stakes.
One creative decision worth praising is the use of operatic music in the opening sequence. It’s more than a stylistic choice; it sets the tone immediately, signaling that this story is a fantasy opera—dramatic, theatrical, and unapologetically stylized. It gives the series a distinctive identity rarely seen in modern Chinese fantasy dramas.
If there’s any criticism to note, it’s the inconsistency in maintaining tension. After such a strong and intense beginning, some of the middle episodes feel noticeably lighter and slower. Some viewers may expect more frequent appearances of the earth creatures or more high-action sequences. Yet these quieter moments allow the show to strengthen its characters and humor, preventing the story from becoming monotonous.
Overall, the first twelve episodes make it clear that Love on the Turquoise Land is a unique viewing experience—fearless in its direction, rich in character chemistry, and confident in its blend of tension and wit. If the series manages to recapture the intensity of its early episodes while preserving the character depth it has already built, the rest of the season has the potential to become even stronger.

There was so much potential....but
The LOW rating is for the storyline and not the Acting/actors.The actors were great! But the storyline could have been so so much better. This drama had the potential to be nitty, gritty, more VIOLENT and I'm sure the actors would have done a great job at it as well! BUT here we are 😞
First of all, why so many filler scenes and bad lighting during fight scenes??? There are only a few good fighting scenes in the drama and still I have to squint to watch them! Urgh!
The scriptwriter had a lot of room to change things up, to replace the whip and hammer with something more scary? Right? C'mon its Horror genre with the most ugly looking monsters haha Earth Fiends! But I feel like this drama made them look tamer...not scary enough to give me goosebumps!
The only character arc I'm loving so far is Ms. Lin! She stole the show for me! I'm absolutely in love with her acting! This actress knows her stuff! Less is more! Yess!
Be it cold expression, the scary eye talk and then those ghastly teeth picking out of her mouth! Loved it! Only she was the one who seems to be the true monster, the others are just cattle in terms of acting freakish! Even that stoic face maid following Lin Ling around is nothing. A lot of the side actors could have done better, but mainly my issue was with the storyline....
They really could have made it better, with less explanation and more ACTION and FIGHTING and torture if need be. After all they were dealing with Fiends who have been around for millions of years! They gotta be thick skin right? Won't die off easily smh
If you’re looking for visuals, this drama is good, but other then that, I would say, there are better dramas airing that you can watch

a must watch
This drama is one of the few shows l've been interested in and willing to watch from beginning to end. Some might think the subject matter isn't particularly popular or slow paced, but for me it's truly outstanding among the mass-produced cliche dramas of recent years. The cinematography is exquisite + the plot, characters and setting are interesting. There's no excessive filtering or skin smoothing, the bgm/osts are magnificent and the actors performances are all excellent. If i have to nitpick about something it would probably be about how they handled some plots just to pass the review. But overall this a good watch and worthy binging onWas this review helpful to you?

Awesome!
This drama incredibly awesome for the end of 2025. Dilraba and Xingxu execute their characters ecstatically, also I love how the bond of them builded to each others as stranger that I met many times to be someone that I treasure. The ancient plot is amazing, despite the plot hole can't be escaped. A Luo as the Mad Blade cannot stand for the last time to meet Lin Ayi and kill her such a waste. Also, the amnesia scene also when Nie Jiuluo had found in riverbed kinda didn't make sense to me. However, I still enjoy to watch this drama! Kudos to Dilraba and Xingxu. Was this review helpful to you?
Fantastic chemistry!!!
Loved the chemistry between the two leads, made me giggle every now and then!! It was so original and the music was so beautiful. This was my first drama of both leads and their really did amazing!! I loved their dynamic, truly what I liked !!Though I felt like they dragged the plot too much, this drama would've worked if it was at least 27 episodes. Either way I feel like many people would've enjoyed this drama, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by other dramas that are more focused on romance :(

A Solid Sci-Fi Mystery with Mythic Depth
I really enjoyed this one. It started on a slightly confusing note as the story was introduced, but with each episode the drama weaves an increasingly engaging sci-fi narrative, and it only got better as it progressed. That said, I was initially disappointed by the creatures. However, as the story developed, the intrigue and depth of the plot made up for that, because it quickly becomes clear that the story isn’t about the creatures' presentation.Instead, it becomes more focused on its mythology and the broader history behind everything, shifting away from first impressions into something more layered. It was enjoyable to watch the traditions and customs unfold, along with the intricate setups and battles between the two forces as their backstories were revealed.Having said that, I’ve seen negative reviews from viewers who expected more romance. This is a creature feature, though, so any romance will follow a different formula or have a lighter presence than in a true romance drama (and rightly so). Personally, I thought there was a nice balance that helped broaden the plot layers. The buildup felt natural and fitting, and my only real critique is that the beginning includes a few repetitive misunderstandings that didn’t quite land for me.
Overall, I enjoyed this watch. While it isn’t a top-tier favorite, I would definitely watch it again, as the script is smart and includes several sequences filled with mysteries and Easter eggs. I hope they continue the story with a season two.

It had the biggest potential...
I so wanted to like this more and was so ready to watch this when it aired. This just looked so different for Dilraba and it was. She also did amazing in her role. Also really enjoyed Chen Xing Xu in his role. It starts off so strong and I was so interested in the characters, but it does start to fall off the cliff toward the end.I really loved the chemistry between Dilraba and Chen Xing Xu and it starts off so strong. With their fighting and being cautious around each other at the start. One of my fave scenes from this is their fight in Nie Jiu Luo's house. It is so intense and you really don't know if they are really fighting or going to start kissing each other. The chemistry is so strong in this scene. I do feel like they could of done more cause this is really not a romance. So for romance lovers that does really take a backseat to everything else that is going on in this drama.
3 characters that I really enjoyed watching through this (besides the leads of course) was Xing Shen (Mad Dog), Yu Rong (Ghost Whip), and Feng mi. I just thought they played their characters so well and I enjoyed watching them. Even if Mad Dog does seem a bit unlikable at times you could tell this guy was loyal to the Nanshan Hunters if nothing else.
I do really feel like like this drama just fades off toward the end like they really didn't know how to end it, or they just didn't know how to make it a stronger tale. I will say the last 3 episodes you can watch in fast forward. There is no new information there that you will miss. I really wish they would of explained things more but they didn't. That last 3 episodes just really feel like a waste. Its like your watching the start of a whole different drama by the end of this. I feel disappointed really wanted to like this more than I did. The actors are worth watching. The story falls flat.

Don't trust the low ratings – this drama is worth seeing
I don't understand these low ratings. There are a lot of really poor dramas, but this one doesn't belong in that category. The plot is interesting. Since I was a child, I haven't watched any scary movies — horrors or thrillers. But "Love on the Turquoise Land" — I watched it over a few nights and I enjoyed it ;) The story is mysterious, complemented by a good soundtrack and sound effects. Di xiao (Earth Owls) were scary creatures, but I could stand watching them. There are also a lot of strange characters in this drama.
There's a romance, but it doesn't eclipse the main plot, although it is easy on the eye ;) Xingxu and Dilraba were foes, but after finding out that they have the same goal, they slowly started to build a real deal, working together and later... later everything boils over into stronger feelings. And you can see a well-shaped man's body, which is very satisfying :D
IMHO, this drama is really worth seeing.

Electric, Controlled, Unforgettable
Love on the Turquoise Land brings together two actors who are practically legends when it comes to on-screen chemistry. With Dilraba Dilmurat, you already expect sparks — she has that rare ability to generate believable romance with anyone. Give her a co-star, a camera, and a breeze, and suddenly you’re convinced you’re witnessing destiny. Opposite her, Chen Xingxu is no less magnetic. He has that intense, controlled presence that makes every shared glance feel intentional, every silence charged. What makes this drama especially clever is the genre choice. By leaning into mystery and action rather than full-fledged romance, the show keeps their chemistry simmering instead of exploding. Because honestly? If these two were placed in a pure romantic melodrama and allowed to unleash their full emotional artillery, the audience (and possibly the production team) might not have survived the impact. The tension is sharp, the pacing smart, and their dynamic feels electric without being overwhelming. It’s a pairing that understands restraint — and that restraint makes every moment hit harder 🔥⚡️
