Season: 1

8-year-old Fukamachi Naoya-san accidentally stumbles across a mysterious Blue Lantern festival that he is forbidden to witness. There, he meets his deceased Grandfather who punishes him for his careless actions. Ten years later, Naoya-san lives with the ability to understand when someone lies. He is shunned by his mother and spends his time confined to himself and barely having any friends as result. When he attends the Folklore Studies 2 lessons, he is intrigued by his eccentric Professor Takatsuki Akira, who in turn notices Naoya-san's strange demeanour. While going home, Naoya comes across a boy who believes that kids at his school were taken by a mysterious Kokkuri-san. He visits Takatsuki sensei and his assistant Ruiko-chan for help. Together they manage to reveal the truth behind the happenings at the school, which was nothing supernatural. In his office, Takatsuki sensei confronts Naoya-san about his strange power and Naoya reveals the truth. He is extremely excited to meet a 'real mystery' in Naoya-san and welcomes him back to his office anytime. What Naoya-san does not know is that Sensie himself had his own mysteries.
