Episode Title: First Impression
Investment banker Qian Fei is having a meal at a noodle shop when she happens to cross paths with an investment banking elite, Li Yi Fei, leaving her with an exaggeratedly negative impression of him. Qian Fei is taken by her director, Fang Yun, to a bidding venue, where Li Yi Fei rushes in through the back entrance to save time, crashes into Qian Fei, and breaks her phone.

How they randomly kept bumping into each other! 🤭 And he actually thought she was stalking him.Are they working in rival companies? I only caught that it was something to do with investment banking. 🤔Her boyfriend is really not worth staying with—he chooses his career OVER her, wants to sell the apartment HER father bought, and clearly values money over anything else... 🙄 I hope she gets over him quickly. 😔And of course—Tan Jianci! 🤗❤️P.S. I already had heard that the boyfriend is AI made, but will it be just for couple of episodes or longer?

Not too keen on modern Chinese drama, but reluctantly picked this up because of:
+ "Comedy" tag (before "romance" and "drama");
+ Wang Chu Ran, specifically in a comedy-then-romance similar to "How Dare You", which I adore.
I am currently at the latest episode and decide to go back to record some of my thoughts.
Full disclosure: I like this series so far. It is light and fun but does not take its audience for granted or tries to dumb them down.
1st episode, honestly, not a strong impression.
- FL's costumes are ridiculous, more so given her ripe age of 27. BUT, this got explained in episode 9. Gradually, it feels like part of the character. It also makes her more relatable, down-to-earth. This isn't an overblown, idol, historical, costume drama.
- The setting, styling, colouring, overall the feel of the show seems dated. I find out, it was made three years prior due to the 2ML's scandals. Oh well, it grows onto me anyhow.
- 2ML got replaced with another actor's face. So, yes, it's weird and limited his acting and expressions. Most of the time, he looks elsewhere instead of his scene partners. Looking closely, I notice the blurry green screen and different lightning as well. SO, props to the production team for trying and pushing over this immense hurdle, to get this released. Not to worry about 2ML, he doesn't appear a lot. Likely, his screen time got severely reduced. The story and lead actors will take over everything anyway.
Some minor stuff like FL's best friend and ML over reacting, the lukewarm introduction of the supporting cast, the weak hold of both the leads, in this episode, didn't deter me from reaching for a few more episodes. Because: humour and charming lead actors.

The opening of the first episode is quite refreshing. The chance encounter that ties the FL and ML's destiny together is a bit cliché, but it's still executed really well. Also, Wang Churan and Tan Jianci's acting is solid

OMG Moment:
The female lead catches her boyfriend with another woman, only for him to turn around and break up with her because she’s “too perfect.” The audacity of this man deserves an award. 😭
Favourite Character:
💚 Li Yi Fei – He keeps getting pulled into the female lead’s problems and can’t seem to stop himself from helping her, even when he pretends he wants nothing to do with the situation.
Favourite Scene:
The chance encounters, her constantly having near misses or bumping into him. She’s always bouncing forward. Then in work situation he bumps into her 🤭
Trope:
✨ Bickering Housemates
Random Fangirl Thoughts:
I didn’t hate the episode because of the acting—the cast did a solid job. My biggest issue was the editing and pacing. The storytelling felt choppy, with scenes jumping around in a way that made it difficult to fully immerse myself in the drama. It also felt surprisingly slow, even for a slow-burn setup.
That said, I already like the female lead. She’s clearly intelligent and capable, having successfully exposed corruption through her work. Unfortunately, she seems to have a major blind spot when it comes to her boyfriend. While she’s willing to work hard and earn her success, he’s the complete opposite—constantly looking for shortcuts and easier opportunities. His decision to leave her for a wealthy woman feels less like a sudden betrayal and more like an extension of his character.
The first episode didn’t completely hook me, but the housemate setup, growing tension between the leads, and Li Yi Fei’s green-flag tendencies have convinced me to stick around for Episode 2.
Episode Verdict:
🤔 Not love at first watch, but enough potential to keep me watching. The editing needs work, but the characters and housemate dynamic could end up carrying this drama. 👀🔥

Omg this is soooo good. They can't stand each other, and I am loving it!!! TJC & WCR's acting is spectacular. His character is so different from the one in Love Me Love My Voice. It's so chaotic, and I can't wait for more!

Qian Fei is a very capable investment banker that prefers staying behind the scenes with set hours. She is fully invested in her relationships and sees her best move as staying where she is career wise and being happily married to the love of her life as her primary goal. She has just bought a new apartment and turned down a very promising promotion because her bf’s mom has her convinced he is proposing. All day long she has been running into Li YiFei who turns out to be from a competitor bidding on the same contract. She is getting coffee spilled or her phone trashed whenever they collide. He wasn’t particularly rude to her until he thought it was her mission to spy on him to keep him locked out of the deal. From then on it was gloves off and he was openly antagonistic towards her. As their circumstances tossed them together, they both became more annoyed with each subsequent encounter. By the end of the day both were having fights with their bf/gf. Qian Fei bought a blazer she could barely afford for her bf’s bday to have him not show up til after midnight hiding a watch from a beautiful ‘client’ and not even having the courtesy to see what she bought for him. He thinks she and his mother are trying to trap him into marriage and unlike his faithful gf, he grabs the promotion and tosses the relationship. He is not kind about it and basically blames her for pressuring him. She needs him out of her life and I think her bestie would agree. Li YiFei is watching his girl be all clingy with another guy while he waits for her in the car. He does not give her the bag and said he was picking it up for a work colleague. He likes to look well dressed and have a nice car but he seems tired of his gf’s love of designer bags. Qian Fei has been the best of gf’s with wholehearted devotion, but her day is sadly summed up with no promotion, no help paying for apartment, topped with phone and heart broken same day. Lady watch giver can have him. 😝
