Shooting on 16mm, Tang Hsiang Chu spent two years with Mamuno, a Tao indigenous person, on Orchid Island after Mamuno returned from Taiwan to his homeland. This film documents Mamuno’s reintegration into the community he once left behind when he was pursuing a better life on the mainland. While listening to Mamuno’s journey full of up-and-downs and experiencing the solidarity among the Tao people, the director starts to reflect upon his own ethnic Han background and attempts to find the meaning of his life.
