I LOVED THIS SERIES

This is my favourite romance of any series, I think. It's insane to say, and I don't even like Thai dramas usually? I cried so much and it got the fangirl squeal out of me. SO MUCH. I'm a gay man and two women got me to fangirl squeal...

I didn't like the music too much overall, but it's not super important to me. HOWEVER I will give it an 8 because Becky sings throughout and I absolutely love her voice.

Phreen has perhaps become one of my favourite actresses, just out of this and nothing else I've seen from her. Yes, this drama is momentous and historic, but even as a straight romance I would find this wonderful masterpiece of cinema exceptional.

My only real gripe is the fact that we didn't get to learn much about the co-workers, and that the grandmother was not more present throughout the plot, but honestly I think the way everything was done was absolutely exceptional.

DONT CANCEL ME PLEASE

I didn't watch this series until after Affair, I did hold off a bit but whatever I finally watched it and idk. Okay, acting was good but the story was just like bleh. I LOVE freenbecky trust, but this series was just a little cringe, especially freen's character, she just pmo and I know she's supposed to give that leave me alone vibe, which is why I said good acting, but it was kind of hard to watch. I had really high hopes with this series, and it was okay. I know this is THE gl show but idk for me it was love senior, which is worse but like there was nothing else to watch lol. Anyway, I really enjoyed the series, I did watch the re-runs so that's why it's ranked higher than my original opinion. Just a little cringe but I mean they paved the way and I know The Loyal Pin is better, i'll go watch that one soon.

Different From Others GL

It's a refreshing storyline compared to other GL.
GL story lovers should watch this story because it is life-changing! Seriously!

From the smallest character to the main character, each character plays a very good role. This series is alive because every cast understands each other's characters. Their acting looks alive and real!

Each plot is not boring and not too difficult to understand but contains mixed emotions. Instead, it makes you wonder what will happen with the romance that is prevented by the family. But the combination of comedy elements brightens up this story.

Even the OST keeps stuck in my head! MUST WATCH!!!

Loved it

I loved this girl's love series. Yes, there may be ups and downs in their relationship but still, it was a good combination of the troupe and the way there was so much emotion just using their eyes and it was such a good show that I finished watching it in two days. I would recommend this show for those who want to kill time and there is no need to expect so much but just enjoy the show. The acting was so on point that the casting was so perfect for it. Freen was the best character for playing sam because she was so into the character that she literally bought it to life. This just made the show even more worth watching as I don't usually watch thai drama but this is definitely worth a try to watch. Hope that the two leads can have another more extended series like this again.

There are not than many GL series out there that give us these full fleshed out characters so that already adds the Gap high up in the GL category. However, that doesn’t meant that is why you should watch this series. You should watch this series because Freen and Becky have such good chemistry. The friends are hilarious and love the coworkers! Hopefully we get more projects with freen and Becky because they’re so amazing! I’m glad I didn’t watch this until it all came out bc I would’ve left feeling sad after like every episode then would’ve had to wait for the next one.

Very good girl love story. One of the best gl

I would recommend. very good. Love becky acting with Mon. Work very well and also freen.
Very nice plot and story line and the actors are amazing. I love how the story is about A girl closing the gap between them. Which strengthens their relationship also how they met each other again after a long time period. Even though they have an age gap the still loved each other and don’t care about the gap between them which make them stronger. I would wish the Drama/series will be a little longer. But over all 10/10. You should definitely watch it.

Must Watch

It is a good Show also the OST Whisper By Freen Sarocha is epic; Many series have a lot of BS about GL/Yuri this is so straightforward and fully shows what it is about, a full and complete romance and comedy Yuri drama; two of the best I watched including yuri or another which is so good in terms of excitement and story only bad ending; but this one really good with a complete and good finish. m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m mm m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m m

personal opinion on gap (no personal hate on whichever party)

as gap being the very first gl series i’ve ever watched, i didn’t have any expectations apart from the shots and snippets that i watched from social media that led me to this series. one thing that made me quite upset was about the characters’ personalities. like for sam, i didn’t like how she lied to mon that kissing her and doing ‘all that’ before they became girlfriends was something that friends would normally do, like have u ever seen normal friends kissing and biting each other? plus, the scene where mon called sam and asked her about what their relationship status was, the fact that sam even brought up that she was quite a few years older than mon which meant that they can’t be in a romantic relationship, AND still kissed her as if they were a couple. but other than that, the acting and story is still good, it is not rushed and it flows smoothly. the actresses’ acting are good which made the series good in general. i’m surprised that this series is rated 13+ cuz from the looks of ‘certain’ scenes (iykyk), it looks more like 18-21+ to me [p.s.: i only knew about gl shows this year(2024) so i’m still quite new to this industry:)]

Both better and worse than I expected

Flash review - low thought, rapid fire notes, mostly for my own future reference

I was recommended this like many people, as the pioneer Thai GL. I set my expectations accordingly and I would say it was both much better but also worse than I expected.

# The good:

- The production quality was good, totally modern and on par with other dramas imo. I expected it to be more low budget, but that wasn't the case at all

- Freen is top notch in this. She knows how to work the camera and always looks like she is in her element. She has an incredibly wide range and gives significant depth to the smallest actions and thoughts of her character

- The friend group and similar types of characters are tons of fun. And often saying exactly what we're thinking and moving to impact the plot for the things that as an audience member, I want to yell at the main-type characters

# The bad:

- The top of this list has to be the writing. Lots of premises are paper thin or make no sense or characters make decisions that are just to feed the melodrama. At best stuff makes no sense, at worst its regularly infuriating

- A pattern with many of these shows, but possibly the worst in this one, is characters being portrayed being actively, viscerally bad. And then no worthwhile redemption, just flip and we are supposed to forgive. Really unpleasant stuff, which feels like the writers just doing stuff to get an emotional reaction, and then not bothering to treat it seriously

- Seriously, add a second bullet and just repeat that. Just disgusting stuff in what would otherwise be such a cozy drama. I'm avoiding spoilers, but more than one character got me so mad I almost stopped watching

- A lot of het romance tropes that I like this genre for not being attached to usually. But the control/communication stuff is all handled in ways that are pretty typical of hetero romance dramas. I guess we have to not hold it against this one, since it was pioneering these issues, so it probably needed to "stick to the expected" a bit more, than the later Thai GL dramas have had to.

- I don't want to say Becky was bad... but it really felt like a student actor or something. Like you could tell she was reciting lines, or "acting happy" by forcing smiles. It.. was awkward, especially for a main character. And especially next to Freen who seemed so good at not only acting natural, but expressing nuanced things

way too dragged out

This could’ve easily been done in eight episodes. The plot often felt dragged out, unfocused, and at times utterly boring — like it was going nowhere and lacking any real structure. The constant flashbacks to scenes that had literally just happened were infuriating and made the pacing even worse. Still, the acting was genuinely strong, and FreenBecky’s undeniable chemistry carried the entire show, making it at least somewhat worth watching despite the frustrating storytelling.

not my favorite

my first review.
because i’m frustrated!
i almost dropped this show after episode 9 but a friend convinced me to pick it back up.

i loved this show at first. i loved the work dynamic, i was so excited to see what would eventually happen with Sam’s “no dating rule” while she was dating Mon. i was invested in the cute side characters at the workplace. then at some point in the series… the entire workplace just.. vanishes. what happened with the coworkers? the series just completely takes a turn and the entire thing is suddenly about sam’s grandmother (who made me want to punch my screen every time her face was on it) we kinda just never go back to the workplace setting and see everyone finding out about Sam and Mon’s relationship.

with that being said, after the workplace vanishes, i had to force myself to keep watching the show.. i kept thinking “why are they even together, they do nothing but argue and bicker…” there was a time near the end where i almost hoped that Mon would have just went to England. it would have been a healthy new start for her. not saying she’s innocent, considering how she dated Sam the entire series while Sam technically had a fiancée.

the grandmother’s “change of heart” at the end of the series was just too much. i just couldn’t believe it. there’s no way. i knew it was coming, i saw it coming, i kept thinking to myself; no way is she suddenly going to change her mind. after driving away the first granddaughter for who knows how long, and driving away the second granddaughter LITERALLY TO HER DEATH. and now because Sam is “sad” in the past couple months, she’s going to completely change her horrible demon-like personality? there’s just no way.. and she did. they did it. the show tried to give her a redemption arc. i couldn’t buy it by the end.

Sam was so indecisive i just couldn’t with her anymore.
Mon started acting like a damn pushover at every chance.

..and what happened to the work place setting?!?

i’m hoping the Loyal Pin does justice to these two because i did enjoy their acting despite them not having much of a good story to work with!!!!!!

A Messy GL But Memorable One

The plot is overall good, but the side plots are left unsatisfied or incomplete. It also educates about the issues of LGTBQ+ couples in Thailand, advocates for marriage equality, and normalizes romantic relationships between women and women.

The acting is cringey, but bearable.

The OSTs are enjoyable, though some of the songs’ styles are a bit outdated.

The cinematography is horrible, making it uncomfortable to watch with its weird angles.

Lastly, the production has good attitudes and intentions towards the series, but the overall quality has a cheap look to it.

My Opinions:
Although my rating for GAP is low, GAP is gold. It was the first series that open my world to GL series with better representation, compared to the one I had saw. It has unique charms to it that makes it addicting and fun to watch, despite its flaws, and it is an all time favorite of mine.

Also, one thing I love the most about this series is Freen and Becky’s chemistry that is overflowing out of the screen.
