INTERISTING

It's a series that have a particular message not all will understand it or will love it but it was good .
The genre :-

the genres are quite true . It is really thriller a mix between bloody and Psychological thriller but i think it shuoldn't be watched if you are not Appropriate psychological state and in the mood for it you know what i mean . i think there is a funny moments too so there is some comedy or dark comedy somehow . there is a lot of torture so suit yourself .

The story :-
It's quite new for me it's somehow have a little squid game vibes . Liked that it's really simier to society's selfish behavior like a small sample of society's development in a reallly fast term . Really impressive actually and in my opinion there is Projection in it .
The cast :-
Chun Woo Hee : she is phenomenal WERE HAVE SHE BEEEEN ALL THIS TIME
she is like Seo Yea-ji . her acting is really flawless . If I hadn't seen her acting in The Atypical Family , I would have thought she can be crazy anytime soon or she is really some kind of a freak in real life .
Ryu Jun Yeol : he was actually good even if i don't like him but i really felt bad for him .
for the rest there is none who couldn't deliver there role well.
but overall it's good but i have some notes :-
1 - it have inappropriate scenes .
2 - the end or the last 10 minutes ruined it for me .
3 - the Directing was uniqeue .Did not expect it . good idea .
4 - there are few plot twists . verry good actually but you can expected .
5 - it's a series you must watched acually once in your life .
That's all and sorry for my bad english .

I really didn't like this, but...

This drama was odd. It was essentially a fictionalized and more psychotic version of the Stanford Prison Experiment from the 1970s. The fact that the ringleader was in many ways a sociopath from the very beginning was definitely a recipe for disaster - and an interesting spin on the tale of what happens to ordinary people when they get unlimited wealth and power. I had a few small problems with the storyline - it was never entirely clear to me how 4th floor became a part of the elite since she was from a lower floor, and I think it would have been better if each episode had began with explaining how each person came to accepting this offer as was done for 3rd floor in the first episode. When there was finally more revealed in episode 8 it came a little late for understanding the motivations of characters in the previous ones. Still, interesting plot idea, and excellent acting from a very small cast.
What I did not like, however, is that there were a couple of episodes that were essentially nothing but torture p0rn - it wasn't a psychological thriller or mystery, it was just large quantities of extreme violence portrayed in a way that I felt was excessive and beyond serving the plot. Showing it continuously took the sadism far beyond using it for shock value, and in my opinion was detrimental to telling the story. That doesn't make it a bad show, it was simply not to my taste.

disturbing

*This is my personal opinion! You are entitled to have your own. :)*

this show was horrific. im not shitting on the show though. the storyline and plot was good it's just it was so sadistic and disturbing so it was hard for me to get through. the first 1-4 episodes had me hooked. From episodes 5 onwards, it almost became unwatchable because of how sadistic it is. i guess this just isn't my type of thing as im more into romcoms. still, this show i know would be enjoyable for some which is why i'm giving it a 8, purely based on the storyline.

in this show, the characters aren't addressed by their real names, they're just called by the floor they own. for example, the show starts off from third floor's perspective. there's 8 characters, hence the name of this drama. 1st floor, 2nd floor, 3rd floor, 4th floor, 5th floor, 6th floor, 7th floor, and 8th floor. in the first few episodes, i hated 6th the most because he's just so aggressive. he was beating them so extremely. which is what i found disturbing. and he was a total suck up to 8th. then, i hated 1 because he started becoming annoying and not letting them finish the show which ended up leading to his death. also i found it quite obvious that number 1 was the one increasing the time towards the end by pulling out 6th's toenails and 4ths tooth.

and my personal opinion on 8th changed. at first i found her to be stuck up and a snob, but then she showed some of her true colours. she's actually quite smart but who knows. she ended up in prison at the end anyway. i think the actress who played 8th did a fantastic job, i think it would've been hard to play such a strange character as 8th.

OVERALL:

i give it a 8 because it has a good storyline and i didn't skip any parts of any of the episodes. it's just not my sort of show lmao. anyway i'm still glad i watched it. and just as a reminder, this is my own opinion and you can have your own too! you may rate this show as a 10 or a 1, but that's completely up to you!

so if you do watch this,i hope you enjoy it :)

I enjoyed this alot and binge-watched in one sitting till my eyes dried up~

oo RECOGNIZED ACTORS oo

First, let's start with the 'Wacko' played by Chun Woo-hee! Her acting was amazing! I just watched "The Atypical Family" before this, so seeing her play a more sexy role was shocking! Then the ML was played by Ryu Jun Yeol as 'Number 3' The Last time I saw him, he was in 'Lucky Romance' years back! This is his comeback with TV shows! Welcome back!

oo SIMILARITY WITH CONCEPTS oo

It's similar to Squid Game regarding winning money by playing games that possibly result in death but besides those things that's all they have in common. I wish to see more Korean Thrillers with those concepts because in Japanese shows there's bout damn near 100+ 'Death games'. I can list a few!

Alice In The Borderland
As The GODS Will
Liar Game
Battle Royale
and ETC.

So I don't really see the issue with this being similar to Squid game. It's not like they took this bar from bar.

oo IN CONCLUSION oo

Moving on this got dark real quick and the intro started to sound more disturbing once I reached episodes 7 and 8! It was really odd for me to like a character then hate but then like them again! That's how I felt strongly with Number 2 and Number 8! I inspire to get athletic like Number 2, she knows how to kick some ass!

Would totally recommend this show as a refresher if you have finished watching something close to this or something that's far from this genre!

Liked Squid Game? Then gotta WATCH THIS!!

I just randomly started this drama seeing the protagonist from Atypical family. BUT DAMNNNN Totally did not expect the transition of her acting. The plot was really unpredictable and New. It made me wondering if people with money can really achieve anything in this world just for their timepass.

The drama made me hooked up, i literally watched all the 8 episodes continuously. I know i know but it made me really curious of whats goi g to happen next, or will the oppressed people be able to stand up in a society. The stairs typically symbolizes the rich, middle class and the poor. It gives kinda squid game and Alice in borderland vibes. I suggested this drama to my sis and she finished it in one whole night. The cruel depiction of abuse and blood is something that u have to endure, if you are planning to watch.

Good Enough

Korean Drama '' The 8 Show '' is a survival thriller in the form of a game.

First of all, because a lot of people compare this to Squid Game, The 8 Show does fall into the same category storywise, but it was better than Squid Game, mainly because it was more invested in the characters and less in creating scenes that would shock the viewer. Actually, there were a lot of shocking scenes, but those were the result of human cruelty rather than scenes specifically designed to result in a bloodbath.

That said, the drama has some merits, yes, but fails to have a smooth development, even giving a proper conclusion and explanation to the whole ordeal. Also, the impressive cinematography got tiring after a while.

Still, the performances were all great by everyone in the cast.

So, overall, six out of ten.

A Spectacle of Disappointment

Rarely does a television program manage to deliver such an unrelenting assault on the senses as The 8 Show. Marketed as a groundbreaking series promising innovation and thrilling entertainment, it instead reveals itself to be an insufferable amalgamation of lazy writing, uninspired performances, and downright baffling production choices. By the end of its interminable runtime, one is left questioning not only the judgment of those who greenlit this disaster but also their own decision to endure it.

The most glaring flaw of The 8 Show is its sheer lack of identity. What does it want to be? A drama? A comedy? A surreal experiment in avant-garde storytelling? It attempts all of these without mastering any, resulting in a tonal Frankenstein’s monster that lumbers aimlessly from scene to scene. The plot – or what one generously calls a plot – is an incoherent mess riddled with gaping holes and unresolved threads. Characters are introduced only to be discarded moments later, and any semblance of a central narrative is buried under layers of needless subplots that go nowhere. Watching it feels less like following a story and more like wandering through a labyrinth designed by someone actively trying to get you lost.

Adding insult to injury, the acting is uniformly atrocious. It’s as if the casting team deliberately sought out performers with the least charisma and emotional range. Lead actor - whatever his name was - delivers his lines with the enthusiasm of someone reading a grocery list, while the supporting cast alternates between overacting and looking visibly confused about what they’re supposed to be doing. Chemistry between characters is nonexistent, which is especially damning in a show that tries (and fails) to rely on relationships and interpersonal drama as its core.

The show’s visual and auditory design does nothing to salvage the experience. The cinematography oscillates between pretentious slow-motion shots and amateurishly framed scenes that look as if they were filmed on a whim. Lighting choices are often inexplicably harsh, lending everything a cheap, soap-opera aesthetic.

Perhaps the most infuriating aspect of The 8 Show is its pretension. It struts around as though it’s the pinnacle of artistic achievement, but beneath its flashy exterior lies a hollow core. The dialogue is riddled with pseudo-intellectual drivel that attempts profundity but only achieves self-parody. Its "bold risks" are less daring leaps and more missteps into creative quicksand, dragging the entire production down with them.

The 8 Show is not just bad – it’s offensively bad. It’s the kind of entertainment black hole that sucks time, energy, and goodwill from anyone unfortunate enough to encounter it. There’s nothing redeemable here, no silver lining to be found. For the sake of your sanity, avoid this calamity at all costs. Just do yourself a favour and skip this garbage.

Final score: 1/10. Even that feels generous.

They took everything that made the webtoon a masterpiece, and threw it away.

Great casting, based on a very good story, this drama had everything to become one of the best... but no.

The beginning was ok, but it started to get very messy in the middle. What made the story good was the fact that human beings are very weak in front of money, and they can do ANYTHING to gain more. There is no specific bad or good guy, only desperate people wanting to get rich. And that's what the show is missing. Here, they strictly threw the line between the good ones and the bad ones. They got rid of the biggest plot twist ever which made the main point of the story (won't spoil it to ppl who want to read the webtoon after watching the show). It's supposed to be a very complicated and psychological story, and I think that the show is not showing that AT ALL.

Biggest disappointment of the year so far.

Off to a great start

After 2 episodes, I'm really enjoying this one.. It has an interesting premise that doesn't get too heavy-handed in its messaging, creating a pretty tight and tense ride. The characters range from likable to hateable, but they all react realistically to events and are interesting to watch. I've read that this is similar to "Squid Game," which I strangely haven't seen, but if you like that show, this one might work for you. I don't want to get too much into it because there is a lot of mystery here, but this one is solid so far. I hope it sticks the landing.

ummm well

I just finished this show and I have some things to say.
I found the beginning of the series intriguing and it managed to catch my attention, however, as the series progressed I felt that I lost connection with the story and the characters, which didn't seem to have a major development within the plot. In the end, everything was just cruelty and sadism leaving aside other aspects that would make us as viewers feel something more than just disturbance. I don't think the show did everything wrong as it somehow made me want to finish the episodes but I do feel, and I agree with other reviews, that it lacked something more. Also, there were a lot of plotholes and things that didn’t make sense (like they could just buy a toilet in the common room). anyway I give it a 7.

Squid Game's less interesting sister

I'm mixed about this one…Intriguing start but it gets slow and even a little gimmicky at times.Shit got real in ep 4. I think it's safe to say this show did the capitalism/hierarchy commentary better than Squid game. No matter what advantage you think you have, there will always be others in better predicaments or those who manipulate the system to work in their favor. Since comparisons are running wild I’ll go ahead and say the shock factor here wasn't nearly as engaging as Squid Game. Another thing SG did better was getting me invested in most of the main characters. Also fyi, this isn’t nearly as violent as people are making it out to be.

The acting was good but it was difficult to care about anyone, even the main guy. Tbf no one person was super likable but by the end I wasn’t rooting for anyone. 8 was pretty obnoxious but she had all the personality. The music choices were nice. I really dug the intro song.

The concept is interesting enough to justify finishing this but half the show is waiting for something to happen. This was an ok watch but it's missing something to make it next level.

amazing plot and execution, went a little offside at the end

i am not a qualified person to write honestly and objectively about anything, these are just things i felt from my experience. it was a very good show that kept me interested until the end, i binged all episodes. one thing i wil l say is it definitely started losing its effect at the end. i was very impressed and engaged the first half of it, but by the time the teams were formed and the “evil” characters took charge it felt a little off to me. i started questioning the validity of character like 4th floor and when are even her motives, since she hated 8th floor at the beginning, and now she’s in the evil squad? some characters choices and action just didnt have an impact on me, like when 5th floor let the evil ones free and the whole “sleep torture” and then how it all ended with such a stupid action that could’ve been done since episode 2. i also hated how character 1 ended up. he was one of the most dynamic characters to me and possibly my favorite, and they had a chance to actually show us how he turns and how his daughter drives him to commit the actions he committed, but they didnt. which made the whole thing meaningless to me, how he just turned and died was not well executed in my opinion. 8th floor is an interesting character that i felt like they could’ve utilized in actually impactful ways. 2nd floor was my favorite . 3rd floor was obviously in love with 7th floor and the bl could’ve been so good if they weren’t cowards. overall i really enjoyed watching this, while it could’ve been better it’s certainly well done and made me feel the emotions (mostly)
