Last case very rushed and ending on an open cliffhanger

After the first case I felt like taking a break, but from the second case forward, the storytelling becomes more enthralling and I felt like binging directly to the end without stopping. This Song Ci’s brainstorming and case-solving is so very similar to the mindset of the infamous 1990s manga and anime series Detective Hajime Kindaichi. If you watched that series you’ll get this feeling starting from the second episode. One criticism is after around episode 5, the chosen quotes from the historical forensic handbook are just tacked on and start to have nothing to do with the contents of the respective episode. There doesn’t seem to be news of a second season yet but there’s very strong hints of a season 2 coming up concerning the medicine fairy’s biological father and song ci’s eminent ascension into courtly politics.

end but not end? possibly for s2

the details of the case and the whole drama are similar to the vibe of "case solver 1 2 3", the story details, acting plot are still lacking, but this drama itself is not completely bad, there is still a serious vibe, hopefully there is still a possibility for a drama of this scale to have S2, which is feared is because many high budget Chinese dramas don't have an ending and end up burning out


In my opinion the acting is still lacking, but for a beginner's drama it's enough, the story discussed is quite serious, there is a little comedy, but I noticed that they several times the wrong saying the name when talking 1. When discussing vomit in cursing case, song ci should said li yuan zhi but he said li Yuan Zhen, 2. Hanting Academy headmaster name "Huang Yuan Fei", when lizifang and songci discussing the case of Li Yuan Fang mentioned 2 times the name "Huang Yuan Shan" so don't know which one is correct


the plot and scene editing are still messy and dialogue is repeated over and over again, statements that they shouldnt never know before said as if they had known before, but what they have said before is like they never know that before (like they shot 2 of the same scene with different styles but it turned out that both scenes were used, in different time? not just choose 1 that match), the same words and questions go back and forth, sometimes things are very obvious they pretend not to understand, seeming to delay the case


I thought the remaining 5 eps didn't have time to solve the last 2 cases, because they delayed too long on the yin manor case, but the 2 cases is solved, but the story wasn't finished completely, it was open ending and there was a possibility for season 2 because there were still related cases that hadn't been solved, but for season 1, all the cases that were released were solved.
