This show surprised me (in a good way). This was like a wattpad story coming to life lmao, but the male lead carried hard with his acting. I also liked the female lead, but the excessive breathing was a little weird and annoying at times. Man Ning was a mix between a naive damsel and badass: sometimes, she was so air-headed that she'd follow a stranger or put herself in danger, and on other occasions, her good memory would serve to safe the company, or she'd actually stand up for herself and be strong(willed). I think it was more or less well balanced, if I were her, I would have panicked too, so I don't blame her for being a lil dumb sometimes haha. Xing Cheng... wow. I really liked that even with bumps in his revenge plan, or falling in love, he didn't lose his calculating, ruthless persona. The action scenes were a bit goofy (cue ep. 17 in the parking lot, but at least it made me laugh), but overall the ratio between (very thin) plot, romance and action was pretty even. The music was to die for, I really loved the OST! The secondary couples/characters... Mei Na.... baby girl, who instructed the actress to act like a child sometimes? I honestly skipped most of the scenes that did not include the main couple, cause the rest really just annoyed me. Overall, a surprisingly decent show - the plot was a bit thin and nonsensical though. The male lead was great and I hope he'll get more leading roles in the future.

Messy plot but good acting from ML

This is your typical ‘old school’ Chinese drama. Cold rich super capable ML, who can fight, save the damsel and merely get a small scratch on his face 😅

The storyline is complicated. As usual, there is the power struggle from within the family to gain the majority shares and ultimately power of the family company. A lot of past history intertwined with missing persons and death. Somehow, the history of the ML tragic accidents involves the FL’s family as well! The FL’s character is bright and cheerful, but she loves too easily and emotionally unstable. In the first few episodes, the ML has his hand around her neck choking and threatening her in that manner. Not Cool. But of course towards the last few episodes, she becomes his pillar of strength.

Many holes in the plot. Many things don’t make sense. Very over dramatised 😅 Especially the final episode! Third parties- yes. A very annoying female rival Tang Lin who is rich but so spoilt and just cries when she cannot get the man she wants.

The romance between the main couple is quite nice. A short break up and he said very hurtful things to her, but we all know it’s not the truth 😅 Some nice PDA scenes, and yes it’s a happy ending. ML Fan Zhi Xin’s acting is really good in this one. It’s my first time watching him, and was impressed. Also very good looking 😍
Give this a try, but don’t expect too much.

Shittiest and illogical plot, turn your brain off and watch it for the main cp

I wish I could give a zero for minus rating for the story. It started as very good one but just around episode 8-9, it feels like they changed the scriptwriter midway through coz why did the ML become so stupid??? Shittiest plot development and in they end, they said 'we are a family'. Like why the whole struggle of ages if you don't intend to punish the murder?
I couldn't help but point out so many flaws, especially when ML's friend used to follow villains and keep watch on them.
However, I love the 'main cp' and OST. This is the only plus point to this drama. I skipped scenes too often and just watched them. They have good chemistry but then again, the scriptwriter have to fvck up again so he added poor communication (ep 13-15 If I am not wrong and around 20th episode)

C-drama or Soap Opera, it's good either way

I actually enjoyed this drama a lot, though I understand why many don't. It is one of those over-dramatized family stories with lots of plot holes and questions, doppelgangers, family feuds, death, kidnapping, and all that fun stuff, haha. That's why I think it would qualify as a soap. It was a genuinely sweet drama with a fast-paced romance that keeps you going until the end. The characters are enjoyable to watch, and they fit very well into the story.
Shu Manning's character was admirable. though portrayed as weak, nervous, and anxious, she was not afraid in pursuing her love. And she loved that man with her whole life, she was willing to do anything for him.
Yan Xing Cheng fit the role of the Lethal Man quite well. His character was strong and unshakeable, yet showed his soft side to Manning, and he did love her very much. (PS: Their Kisses were the highlight of the whole thing )
The supporting characters were also pleasing to watch, they kept the story going.
the only downside of this drama would be the plot, it could have been written better though the story was interesting.
All in all its a good and recommended drama if you want a passionate romance with a bit of thriller, suspense, and drama.

Go with it!

I get tired of hearing how unrealistic a drama is when shows like Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy are popular! So why can’t a drama plot be similar to a James Bond movie ? I like this drama. It’s fun to wait for the next twist. Dramas, plays and shows are meant to entertain not necessarily be realistic unless you’re watching a documentary- right? I really like the ML as he is totally his role as part James Bond and part Indian Jones. He is flawed so we are rooting for him despite his sometimes mean behavior towards FL. I wish the writers would have made FL role a little lighter - outwardly she goes along with the role too easily as she doesn’t even snoop about her own family. Anyway I like this and want others to watch it. Don’t think too much. Just go with it. Kinda also reminds me of American gangster movies from the 1950,s I think it shows that Chinese writers are expanding their story lines . As for me I am tired of amnesia, love /hate leads and terminal illness plot lines . At least give this show a try.

I fall in love with the ML

Episode 1-5 quite bored but I stay watch this because the ML look hot.. storyline so far okay.. got twist of plot. The three musketeers (ML,YS,FX) alll look good… I didn’t like FL character…still 4 more episode…

ML good in acting, fit with the character and look super hot in fight scene..

FL her character are too weak.. but the actress look cute..

I don’t like the cousin and his mom btw..

The fight scene in the parking lot… when the FL were drunk but the ML try to hide that he fight those man/women in black are the best.. 😅😅😅

An interesting Mystery Romance Drama but the last 4 episodes were a disappointment

My Lethal Man is a mystery romance drama starting not well-known actors and actresses with backgrounds in supporting roles in other C-dramas.

The production quality is so bad; everything is so bright, especially during the kissing scenes. I am not sure why Chinese dramas always do that for cheap quality productions on streaming platforms like iQiyi, Tencent, MangoTV, etc.

I enjoyed the mystery aspect of the drama when the ML tried to solve the 17-year-old car accident that took his family's life. The plot was interesting until the last 4 episodes when things went wrong and stupid.
Even though it has a happy ending, the way it unraveled was so bad, and the acting was not great for either of the entire cast.

The FL does a better job than the ML, and the supporting CPs were not great. Some of the songs in the OST were good.

I am giving it a 6.5 because of the music and the first 20 episodes.

Trashy plot but Hotty Male lead

The plot is trash. The story has no coherence and no newness in story. If the scenes had more logical connection with, I would raise it to one bar. It was more like jumping to scenes
The FL and her friend are also trash. The friend was TOO CRINGE.

But I rated the drama only because of the ML. The moments when he weared glasses was 🔥🔥. Undoubtedly he is charismatic. The way he pulled the syringe was so hot. I am sure that this drama is only watched because of the Male lead.
I wll rewatch only the moments of the lead.

Our Lethal Couple

1. ACTING
It's a collection of action+suspense+romance+depression/trauma. Honestly I really LOVE THE ACTING of the lead Fan Zhixin & Li Mozhi. Their CHEMISTRY & EMOTION are on top.

I didn't expect that Yan Xingcheng character will have many layers of emotion. I'm worried when he's angry cuz his anger really hits right. His madness ain't a joke. Then we he cried, he really looks helpless. When he got the attack, I'm sad for him. Seriously I hope Fan Zhixin can get more recognition by this character.

Li Mozhi also become my anticipated actress now. Her crying scene makes me feels sad too. She can varies her acting from the low confidence Shen Manning to the brave Manning. Her emotion hits right for me.

Together they supports each other through thick & thin. Their dialogue "I'm here" during peril situation really comforting.

2. OST
The OST is good here. It really brings out the right vibe for certain scene.

3. DIRECTING
I love how some scene are well directed to portray the right emotion/sequence. As example, the scene where the ML holds his hand out to help FL to get up from her devastated state. Then, the scene reversed when it's FL turn now to hold out her hands to ML while he's on his low state of life. Also, the drawing of drowning child that FL drawn really have a deep meaning to the ML that it makes him finally letting out his emotion after so much suppression. I really love the depth of this scene.

The cinematography also nice. The way they control the lighting really suits the mood either to be romantic/aesthetic.

4. STORY
I love the suspense they have in this series. Almost every episode got me hooked on the screen and eagerly wait what will happen to them. I understand that maybe the plot not someone's cup of tea but at least the suspense can bring us to watch this. Not to mention some plot twists also left me surprised.

I rarely enjoy modern chinese drama but this one really poke my interest to watch :D (P/S: this drama also kind of giving me a kdrama vibe ;D)

Really good thriller with a lot of tension everywhere! Give it a try!

This defintely was not what I expected but it did not disappoint. I think the overall storyline was really good like it's a good concept but I found it a little confusing to watch so I feel like rewatching would fill in the gaps. The story was really unique, I found a lot of reviews saying the same thing and it's true. This story really was very different from most of the other c-dramas I've watched. It has elements of comedy. It starts off a little jolly but it gets more and more serious and more and more passionate as well. It has a LOT of tension. Great acting from the cast too! Absolutely loved the skills portrayed here on screen. Both acting and the cinematography has been done very well. A nd you def should rewatch this drama because it surely will make you understand the plot better. AND the OST is perfectly fits the tension in the drama! Overall, A very well potrayed, interesting story taht is very tense, thrilling and full of suspense with a very passionate and cute love story too.🌹👭🏻🌹👁️🤵🏻🌌

Finished this one a few days ago and really enjoyed it!

Good things:
- The ML and FL acting is on point
- their chemistry
- they're a great team
- their fashion
- things are quickly resolved between them
- the ML love confession was one of my all time favorites
- sometimes is good to have a villain being plain bad and not wishing to be good even if given the chance but I also enoyed the auntie redemption and teared up because (excuse me) I still believe love is the most powerful force that exists.

Bad things:
- The zooms and close-ups in their eyes every moment at the beggining
- felt that the rest of the plots with the side characters were unnecessary
- a lot of annoying people
- most of the time there was no reason for them to be so suspicious of the ML and FL (the others that were being suspicious for being so suspicious at nothing!?!)
- the concept of twin rose was mentioned and forgotten

In conclusion:
I didn't regret watching it and will probably rewatch some time in the future. ♡

MY LETHAL MAN: TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN

My Lethal Man is a new Chinese drama following the story of Zhuang Xin Yan, the granddaughter of a rich and influential family, and Shen Man Ning, a local art student (both played by Li Mo Zhi). The drama begins with the story of twin roses. The two roses are identical, however when they encounter one another it results in one dying and the other beginning a new life. Similar to the story of the roses, Man Ning and Xin Yan quickly become entangled in an unexpected kidnapping case. However, Xin Yan dies in a car accident after she sacrifices herself to protect Man Ning.

When Man Ning wakes up in the hospital she learns of Xin Yan’s death, meets Yan Xing Cheng (played by Fan Zhi Xin), and is forced to become Xin Yan and Xing Cheng’s fiancé. Although Xing Cheng is cold and mysterious, he prepares Man Ning for her entry into the highly political and tense succession war of LH Star, Xin Yan’s family company. As the Xing Cheng and Man Ning work together and overcome the drama and difficulties in the Zhuang Mansion and LH Star, the two slowly grow closer and eventually learn to love and rely on each other. Additionally, they probe deeper into the unsolved, mysterious car accident that Xin Yan barely survived 17 years ago.

Thoughts

My Lethal Man is definitely not your typical Chinese drama. Although it follows the familiar theme of conglomerate succession, the series has a unique take on romance. Rather than having two characters fall for one another and take their time to establish a relationship, Man Ning and Xing Cheng are forced together as a couple and gradually grow closer.

Although Man Ning is initially portrayed as a weak and nervous character, she eventually becomes more confident and reassured as she attempts to become a legitimate Xin Yan and heir to LH Star. I also liked how she was willing to fight for her relationships. It was nice to see a Chinese drama break the stereotypical weak female lead who walks away from a relationship. Despite being strangers, Man Ning and Xing Cheng have great chemistry as they continue to grow closer with one. However, the connection between Xin Yan and Xing Cheng is definitely surprising and unexpected to say the least!
