How about we fall for each other?

So the whole multiverse thing seemed kind of intriguing, but I admit I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. The story is really interesting, I love how different all the characters that switch bodies are and how hard Talay and Puen are trying to live the best lives for Tess and Pakorn for when they return. The little detail that Puen and Talay met in their own universe before they travelled to the other was cute.

Puen & Talay: At first I felt kind of annoyed that Puen refused to tell Talay his real name, but as the story progressed, that became something I really loved. Puen is used to people using him, trying to get to him because of his fame, and while Talay might be the only person in the other universe that he really gets close to, he is held captive by his fear. I like that Talay doesn’t pressure him about it too much. Instead, the two fall for each other because of who they are on the inside, not because of their looks or status. The struggle between wanting and not wanting to go back, missing the universe they are not currently in… those were really played nicely into the whole story and they made a lot of sense.

I think Jimmy and Sea have an amazing chemistry. They show a lot through a single look or expression. Another thing I absolutely loved is the fact that whenever Puen was about to kiss Talay, Jimmy would put his whole arm around Sea’s neck. I don’t know why, but I found that really endearing.

The series is also full of nods to other iconic GMMTV series and actors. We got plenty cameos from other artists, e.g. Mix, Tay Tawan, Gun, Perth, Milk, Love, etc. And giving Nanon and Ohm the roles of Pakorn and Tess was brilliant, especially because there are certain scenes that really made us draw parallels with Bad Buddy.

Another thing that I cannot skip are the colors. Talay being a colorist played a major role in the whole series. Each episode is named by a color shade. And we can really see a lot of the said color in each episode, not only in their clothing, light and décor, but often the scenes had a tint of the said color. I think that was done brilliantly, not that I expected anything less. It really made me appreciate the role a colorist plays in making a series or a movie.

I do wish we could see more of what Tess and Pakorn did while they were living the lives of Talay and Puen, but at the same time I think that not knowing everything and just getting to hear / see small parts about it makes a lot of sense. We travelled to the other universe with Talay and Puen, the two had no knowledge about what went on in their own universe, and I think they wanted us to feel as lost and as confused as they did.

I genuinely enjoyed this series, but..

Vice versa was a fun watch! It made me laugh and was entertaining, honestly to me the insane amount of product placement was never even annoying but just kind of silly. I personally really liked the mains, I think they had great chemistry. I loved the side couple too(they 100% needed more screen time).

The main thing that drove me crazy was the PLOT HOLES. The whole alternate universe plot idea has so much potential but it really, really needs to be executed PERFECTLY to be good while sadly, this series was not able to do this right. There were many things that just didn't make sense.

I was reading others reviews after watching this and never noticed anyone talking about one thing that was bugging me for the whole time I was watching the series. This thing is the fact that in the very early episodes when Talay first switches into Tess's body, a backstory is revealed about Tess and Tun. It was something about how they were friends but Tess had dated someone that Tun actually "liked" although it was also revealed that Tun was actually in love with Tess?? This causes Tun to ignore Tess(who is now Talay) and stuff happens with this plot but once Puen switches into Tun's body, this whole plot with Tess and Tun is COMPLETELY ignored and never spoken about again. What!? I got sorta interested in Tess and Tun's story from what was revealed about them, I was expecting that maybe they would even end up being a bigger part of the story so that their issues that had been shown in the early episodes could get resolved but I kept waiting and waiting and once the end of the series came around, I was watching it like, "What about the argument Tun and Tess were having in the early episodes?" "Are they friends again?" "..Are they more than friends now?" "Were they also eachothers portkeys?" "What did they do with eachother in Puen and Talay's bodies?" Idk, maybe nobody else cared about them since the people making vice versa obviously didn't but I feel like there was also so much wasted potential there.

Anywayssss, I'd definitely recommend vice versa, especially if you dont care tooo much about strange plot holes. Overall an enjoyable watch.

Cotton Candy and Product Placement but I Loved It

Listen, I love this show. Yes, this show has plot holes and it's bad at explaining some of its lore, and yes it's heavy with product placement. But I still got such a boost of serotonin every week when a new episode came out. I have gone back to watch scenes multiple times. This show is not the end-all-be-all of BLs but it was cute and it tugged at the heart. It was just dramatic enough and it touched on several different types of drama, especially near the end. Tun is drunk in love from like day 1 (maybe day 3), and Talay is just a dumbass for not noticing it.
Basically, this show is cotton candy fluff and if you need something fun to binge on a day where everything else seems too heavy, pick this one. If nothing else, Jimmy's face will brighten your day.

Cheesy, but I happen to love cheese

I'm not a fan of the body-swap trope, and although this time it was handled differently than usual, I still wasn't sure about watching, and was only encouraged by the presence of Ohm and Nanon at first (they were shown a lot more than Jimmy and Sea in the first trailer), and by the positive reviews later.

This series in incredibly good, in the sense that is full of many good things. It left me with a sense of fuzzy and happy feelings inside of me all around - I guess it might be the definition of "emotional support series". Here are some examples without spoilers:
- The acting is very good; not only in the sense that the actors were good ad going with the flow and working with what they had, but rather in the sense that they grabbed my full attention and amplified the strength of every scene, even the most simple ones. I felt like I was there with them.
- The characters are never villanized, which is VERY unusual for any story.
- The romance is great. The characters actually put effort into trying to understand each other and help each other, own up to their mistakes, communicate (!!!!!) in a straightforward and honest way, and most of the time aren't afraid of expressing their true feelings. Helathy dynamics like these are becoming more frequent lately, but they're still so rare, and I appreciate the fact that Vice Versa did it right.
- The main trope of the story wasn't just treated as a cute idea for a romantic story: the writers actually took into consideration the psychological consequences for someone who wakes up in a different dimension in a different body. The plot also doesn't just focus on the romance, but also on different aspects of life and different types of bonds.
- The heart-fluttering moments, if you're into it, are pure gold.

I don't consider this series a perfect masterpiece: there were multiple things that I couldn't fully understand (the main one being: how does a portkey even work and what's the point in having one at all?) and some others that I wish were explored a little more (like how did Tess and Tun live in the other universe and how did they settle when they came back), but I enjoyed myself with this series a lot in any case.

Look for something else if you're into action-packed series, but if you're into Romance and Feelings™, this might be for you!

Just plain old boring

This is the first Thai BL that I've dropped (that's huge! considering I survived Fish Upon the sky!). The issue with this series is it's 'lost potential'. It's not necessarily bad (I would just hate-watch it in that case). It was just boring!!!

There's a concept of universe travelling, where a person's soul can travel to different universe and into another person's body. Right?! Such a great plot...except... the makers flushed it right down the drain.
There's bits and pieces of it just to remind us that 'oh these people have landed in different universe' but that's about it. No indication of any confusion within these travellers' minds, them missing their family, friends, nothing.

There are 2-3 time leaps - some in months, some years - I'm guessing time leaps were added to give this drama a lyrical feel. But these leaps just felt lazy!! Like makers didn't want to show what happened with Tun - time leap. How these people went from college friends to releasing a movie - time leap!

No complains on the acting - Jimmy & Sea did a great job - their chemistry was good. But you can only do so much with chemistry if the story is lacklustre. My biggest ick was there's absolutely no build up to Talay & Puen's relationship. They just meet and that's it - they are goofing around, pecking cheeks, having slow-mo movements (that snow in Thailand scene was cringe). Like it was obvious that they were being put in the spotlight deliberately. Like they were the MC's not only in the drama but even in their own universe. The scenes with Tun having shaving cream on face to depict ages gone by, I understand that the makers were trying to make it very poetic. It just felt unnecessary! It really was not that dramatic! Why did Tun even decide to not contact Talay?

Half the time I felt Puen is hiding something, that's why he's somewhat clingy and smiling and cheerful and so sure of himself. But it's been 6 EPISODES!!! I don't think I can bear to watch fillers after fillers even if someone assures me there's a big reveal at the end.

One redeeming quality of this show was the vibes + defined color tones for each episode but how much can you really indulge with just vibes when product placement are there to assassinate EVERY FREAKIN' SCENE!!! (I wouldn't bother about ranting on the product placements because many have added those points in review, but MY GOD THERE'S A LIMIT! That was also one BIG reason for me to drop the show).

Everything

Vice versa is one of the most beautiful love stories I watched in 2022. Jimmysea I love you so much.
Story: Original and magnificent (Parallel world, body change). The story took on all aspects of life: loneliness, friendships, love, responsibility, the view of society.
Music: I really liked all the music: Have a found, The key, By my side, the credits (incredible).
Acting: All the characters were played well. The chemistry between Jimmy and Sea is very natural. That's why I went crazy for them.
I'm late in my review of Vice versa (Top series of 2022, in my opinion). But I got the information that there is Vice versa rerun at the moment so I took the opportunity to do my review.

In my top 10 fav BL Dramas!

Now everyone is free to have their own opinion but something about this drama just hit me hard! To the point i woke up saying "Ah dang ah dang ah dang......" Lol if you know you know but i have always been a fan of waking up in another world dramas, books, manga, and webtoon so when i heard we where getting a BL i was excited but also unsure if they would do it well so i kept my expectations low due to some BL letdown we have all had before. 2gether cough cough. Anyways It is a cute love story, i laughed, i cried, and i was moved. Was it a masterpiece with no imperfections? Of course not but i find myself watching it over and over as if seeing an old friend or looking at a childhood photo. Now i liked the start of it but honestly the middle felt a little slow but i loved it seeing them both struggle as one wants to go home to his loving family while the other has nothing waiting for him leave a world where he has a family and a lover but in the end the one who didn't want to go home ends up being the first to leave but i love how he never stopped waiting for him. My all time favorite scene is when they are in the coffee shop and and he says "Dang" and they hug both letting out all the longing and sadness and happiness. Or when Puen relises it is Talay because of the alpaca hat. Or when Puen sings. Not to mention the special was way to cute!!!!!! I normally hate it when the couple is in a bad spot when you come back to them but the colander was so cute and the surprise kiss or hug was so squeal worthy for sure!! So the show starts out with Talay a colonist(dose the coloring for movies) is dragged along with his best friend to see her fav actor at the airport. She goes off to see him while Talay heads to the bathroom where he meets said actor Puen and gives him a gift, a cute hat with an alpaca and he explains why he chose it for him and they have a very cute moment. Back to reality Talay gets an interview for his dream job and gets it but when he goes night swimming drunk he wakes up to discover himself in another world as a boy named Tess. Heartbroken and confused he finds he is not the only one, in fact there is a whole underground filled with people from his OG world and now he must find his other half to find their way back to his world. Thinking he found someone in Tess life that fits this he starts fallowing Tun around to try and make up but one day he comes back and is like a different person and even sings a song from their OG universe. In a cool scene we see Tun is actually Puen Tess confirms and the pair team up to find a way back to their world. I wont go into to much because you should just watch it because it is worth it if you are looking for a sweet and wholesome romance with charters who leave you feeling like you made life long friends and picking up there weird lingo or the BL Trivia!!!! Kills me every time as i say the quotes along with them!!!

it's got more to it

When I first saw the teaser trailer for "Vice Versa" at the GMMTV Expo, I couldn't help but think, "Another soul transfer plot? How overused." But after the brilliant "Bad Buddy," I was eager to see Ohm and Nanon again. When the official trailer dropped, I was convinced to give it a shot, and I also wanted to see how Jimmy and Sea would fare. I’m happy to say I did not regret it. The chemistry between Jimmy and Sea is palpable, and their acting skills are impressive.

Directed by X Nuttapong Mongkolsawas, "Vice Versa" stars Jimmy as Puen, who takes over the body of Pakorn/Tun, played by Nanon, and Sea as Talay, who takes over the body of Tess, played by Ohm. For most of the series, we follow them as they navigate the lives of Tun and Tess and their journey to return to their original bodies.

Talay is a talented new graduate who has just landed a job as a colorist. However, during a beach trip with his friends, he drowns and wakes up in an alternate universe, inhabiting the body of Tess, a spoiled rich kid. In the hospital, he meets a nurse from his own universe who explains the existence of two parallel universes and the need to find the "Portkey" to return home. Talay soon discovers that Tun, played by Puen, is also a transmigrated soul. As they work together to find their port keys, their bond strengthens. But what will happen when they return to their original universe? Will they recognize each other?

One of the highlights of the series is how Puen and Talay decide to make positive changes in the lives of Tess and Tun. In their original lives, Puen is a famous actor and Talay is a struggling colorist. When they take over Tess and Tun's bodies, they continue to work in the film industry—Tess's dad owns the biggest film production house, and Tun is a skilled scriptwriter. This continuity adds depth to the story.

Each episode is themed around a different color and title, staying true to the cinematic and production motif, which I found quite engaging. The gradual unraveling of the plot and the exploration of Puen and Talay's lives and struggles were well-executed and compelling.

A fun aspect of the show was guessing the cameo of the week, with many famous faces making guest appearances. Each episode also featured an enjoyable post-credit scene showcasing new Lay's flavors, adding a touch of light-heartedness.

"Vice Versa" brings a fresh twist to the BL genre with its soul-switching and parallel universe plot. It’s far from boring; the story is beautifully crafted. If you think you’ve seen it all in soul transfer dramas, this series will surprise you with its unique approach and heartfelt narrative.

JIMMYXSEA DID NOT COME TO DISAPPOINT!!!

Honestly, I am out of words. The series are beautiful from the start until the end. I really like how Jimmy and Sea always have the best script and series. They lean more towards meaningful relationship kind of plot, its giving me award winning indie series. I love that they know their character very well and portraying characters are 10/10. I seriously have not much words because their acting is top notch. If I am allow to complain, I would have prolly would say its a shame that Tess and Tun doesn't have much part, like it were not shown enough like what they did as Peung and Thalay. I wish they could have more part but oh well! Other than this, its not a major improvement needed since everything is perfect!

Can I just say that I really love that they have name for each of the episode and its based from colour name???????? The plot is pure and really portrays love in such beautiful way. I like that Thalay have character development but I hate Tess's character like he didn't even try to help Thalay with his life, he almost ruined his life but thank freaking god for the switch! Even though 2 years has passed, I am still glad they manage to go back to their universe.

I don't want to write much spoiler and just that if you understand Multi universe then you will love this series so before you watch this series, I would have advise you to at least read about multi universe concept so you don't get lost.

Love this series absolutely! <3
