Itosato is a geisha who belongs to the Shimabara wachigaiya in the geisha quarter of Kyoto during the closing years of the Edo Period. She has her heart set on the deputy commander of the Shinsengumi, Hijikata Toshizo, but the hostility between two district chiefs within the Shinsengumi, Kondou Isami and Serizawa Kamo, continues to worsen.
