It tells the story of a young master from a big family who went to school in a provincial capital in the late Qing Dynasty. Because of the sudden death of his brother-in-law, he rushed home for the funeral. On his way home at night, he rescued a girl, named Li Niang, in the woods. The young master and Li Niang quickly fell in love and got married. However, on the wedding night, Li Niang was caught by a ghost. In an effort to get rid of all the hauntings, the family invited Taoist priests to subdue and seal the ghost in a mirror, but this was just the beginning of all the ghostly events.
