Drama Review: First Frost (2025)
This drama completely stole my heart! 💕 The main leads had absolutely amazing chemistry—their acting was so impressive that I could truly feel their emotions in every scene. Their connection felt natural and deeply moving, making their love story all the more compelling. While the side couple was okay, they didn’t capture my interest as much as the main pair did. The storyline involving the grandpa also didn’t really hold my attention, but that didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the drama.
The male lead? Total green flag! 🏳️💚 He was always there for the female lead, making her feel safe, loved, and cherished. His character was a dream, and I loved how their relationship developed so beautifully.
From start to finish, I was completely hooked! I honestly hope to see these two actors together again in another drama because their on-screen dynamic was just that good.
If you enjoyed Hidden Love, this drama is definitely for you! It’s easily one of my favorite dramas, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a heartfelt and beautifully executed romance. 💖✨

I feel like this drama Goan to high level performence
I request the team the drama go to realised to all languages
To very successful drama of the year
The effect which is shown in this is very romantic and successful, so a man learns a lot that he should take care of all the things of his partner and if she gets happiness from small things then he should take care of her in life.

I mostly favor costumed dramas for its high production cost. I don't watch too many contemporary dramas ,only a few, including this one so I was not expecting that I would like it, rather love it very much
What I did not expect was the "unforgiving" stance of yifan towards her mother which is quite a novelty since most dramas would have them reconciling. I totally agree with her because mothers should be the children's protector and guardian. Lack of care and love would be giving them insecurities and lack of faith in themselves. Luckily for yifan, she has sanyang doing that which the mother had deliberately withold from her. Saying sorry to her at the end still does not erase her being an irresponsible mother.
So not condoning her mother's action is a warning to other mothers out there to not ignore your child from another marriage just because you have a new family now.

where do I find love like this?
I love how Yifan’s trauma was portrayed and handled. I am glad she is in a better place now. I have cried in many of the episodes because it just hurt my heart to see her go through this. I have gone through some things too and I could understand all of her decisions. Sang Yan is also my ideal type because I want to be taken care of and loved unconditionally like that. I did find the stalking thing weird even though he did not have ill intentions. Humans are flawed and I like seeing that portrayed because no one is considered a perfect being. I just wish we got more of the second couple. But I will def be watching again when my mental health is better because I will just be crying throughout the show again. <3Was this review helpful to you?
absolutely incredible
- "non, je me suis porté volontaire "

First Frost set my standards when it comes to modern drama
First Frost is actually a cdrama not ment to entertain but to inspire as well. The character of Sang Yan might be considered as rare species but there's a lot of Wen Yifan in our world.
I really love how they make the fl attitude like that, since all of us need to realized that fl is not always bubbles and sunshine, that makes Wen Yifan unique. And Sangyan is so well written that his small action always captivated me.
Rounan and Bai jinting acting is just so awesome that majority of their scenes feels so genuine, their sweet sides, emotional scenes, hugs etc look so real, such an amazing actors. Rounan as Wen Yifan is absolutely awesome, you can really feel the pain of Yifan's trauma.
The production is so good its like straight out of the novel and manhua. The ost are magnificent, especially Silence Wang ost in The First Frost.
Definitely a REWATCH quality drama, hoping more depth characters and stories like this

Wow
I find myself having a hard time putting this drama into words, so for now I'll just use: Beautiful!!! One of the best C-dramas I've seen this year.I have to say that I did compare it a lot to Hidden Love and found a few differences, like Sang Zhi eating dairy. Also, it felt like The First Frost's Sang Yan had the personality of Hidden Love's Duan Jiaxu, while Duan Jiaxu had Sang Yan's. I decided to ignore those after a while because they are, in fact, two different shows with different actors.
I loved the plot, and the actors did a wonderful job. I didn't expect so much drama, but I feel like it pulled the story together in the end. I almost cried when the MFL talked about her past.
Oh, which reminds me. The main couple is so fricking cute!! I wish I had someone look at me the way Sang Yan looks at Wen Yifan...
The First Frost is a must-watch!

A good love story. That’s it.
The first credit I would like to give to this story, is that it relatively feels real. Usually dramas are too fictional to relate to (ceo/yn, rich/poor), obviously this had a few aspects like that, but they didn’t take over the plot. The story is real, that’s what it was that attracted me to it. I actually felt the character growth in a way (a bit lacking) but still the ml especially deserved an honorable mention. By the end, the ml didn’t blame her, or anybody else, he knew that he saw some signs and he ignored them, and that he shouldn’t have done that. For the fl, the steps she had taken, are inspiring. Having gone through such traumatic events, she managed to slowly find herself and even got to her own conclusion by herself, that running away won’t get her anywhere. HOWEVER, one thing that bothered me till the end, is their relationship with their best friends. I know that this is a romance story, I know that the result is supposed to be « Now they can be together happily ever after forever », but at the end it felt like the fl genuinely did not care about anybody but the ml, she created a dependency which in real life would be too frightening. And even putting that aside, they were both bad friends, not once did they value their best friends enough to prioritize them. The ml outright skimmed through the dog passing away part and the fl never cared about her best friend’s feelings when she disappeared or even just when it’s obvious that she’s upset. Keeping in mind that their best friends both respectively prioritized them at so many other occasions. So overall, if we’re just focusing on the romance, it was a nice story, but the best friends aspect was genuinely disappointing.

Extraordinarily good
I can hardly stomach long and slow dramas, I tend to get bored like that *snap fingers* and I can't stand slow scenes where actors stare at each other for 15 mins unnecessarily... BUT!! I was willing to throw everything aside to continue watching this series despite being -according to my preference- a very slow and long drama.Story is exceptional, but can be told in like 20 episodes and we all would be extremely satisfied, and everything would be shown and explained perfectly.
Acting was amazing, I loved the chemistry between the leads, I don't remember much of Hidden love so I don't know if they did the whole parallel stories without mistakes or plot holes because they both are interconnected and I'm a details freak but I'm glad I don't remember tbh because now I can enjoy it without thinking much.
Romance is spectacular, I want someone like Sang Yan, I believe every girl deserves love like Sang Yan's, and I don't mean the obsessive, clingy, over-8-years, can't-seem-to-be-moving-on, slightly-stalking type of love, just simply the devoted, unchanging and caring type.
Comedy is something I missed, because it's non existent here, in HL it was a excessive in a good way and ironically it was because of Sang Yan, I couldn't relate to the same character he was completely different here even his interaction with his sister felt like they are two different people in each series, but if you treat them as such, you won't be bothered by the lack of comedic relief.
Overall, pretty long, but at the same time entertaining and captivating, you won't feel bored watching it and the romance is spectacular.
Highly recommended ~~

A slow healing drama
I really enjoyed this show overall. I think that the cast was well casted and that they fit their roles very well. I honestly think this role fit Zhang Ruonan so perfectly like while watching I was like thats Wen Yifan, never did I think I was watching Zhang Ruonan.I think my one plot critisism is the transition between Hong Kong and their relationship restarting. I feel like it should've been more clear as to why she just decided to stop being afraid of her hometown and abuser again. My best guess is that time helped her think more clearly? I dont know I just think the transition could've been cleaner.
Anyways I am quite satisfied with the pacing of their relationship. A lot of shows get the pacing off leading the show to be boring but I think this show does that well. I also really liked the plot with her abuser and the results of that plot.
I kind of wish they made the female lead express her love a bit more because it feels like he is so much more captivated by her or I wish that they had a storyline of the male lead being upset with her so that she would have to take the initiative first. I feel like something like that could've balanced the dynamic a bit better.
Overall, I had a very good time watching it but I think its not a perfect show for me because at times I found the main characters decisions abit irritating like she was dragging her sadness which just mad the show extra depressing at times. But I can overlook it.

Amazing Drama
This drama is incredibly captivating. Both lead actors portray their characters in a way that feels so real and true to life. The male lead is an exceptionally well-written character, and Bai Jingting brings him to life perfectly with his outstanding performance. As for Zhang Ruonan, she never fails to amaze me. She portrays Wen Yifan's sadness with such depth and authenticity that I found myself crying through many episodes because of her emotional acting.
The two leads are a perfect match for this drama. Their on-screen chemistry is natural, heartfelt, and one of the biggest reasons the story is so enjoyable to watch.
