The editing and sound effects are giving Short Drama Core
I know republican dramas are supposed to be dramatic and what not but I feel like it could’ve done better. Why are the camera shots and sound effects EXACTLY the same as what short dramas give us.I honestly love chaotic and angsty plots but I feel like they should cut back on the short drama editing style and make it more serious. Like of course humor should be part of this show but not with these weird ass sound effects. The sound effects take away the angst because its trying to tell me how to feel. It ruins the mood of the show. Now I can only pray The Lament of Autumn doesn’t follow this formula and goes down a more serious route.
The pacing of this story is also very quick. I wish we got more backstory of the two characters for like 2-3 episodes as it would help build up the angst for when they first see each other again. The wedding scene could've been such a stomach twisting moment but since we never got to really see their relationship together, it felt more like a wasted moment.
Luckily the redeeming points are the plot and the performances. I am really enjoying this plot and how its turning out. It is quite an easy plot to follow. I think the main leads and second leads are doing a really good job with what they were given. I'm also so glad that they took out the AI intro because it really was not necessary.
I hope it gets better 🙏 (updating review as I keep watching)

Solid healing drama and very memeable
I really enjoyed this show and the chemistry between the actors. I think it was a drama that is best enjoyed when airing. I feel like watching two episodes per week was perfect.I enjoyed how funny and light this drama felt. I also liked the comedy of the show.
Shin Yeeun and Lee Jaewook are so good at crying. Like they made me so sad whenever they were crying. I hope they get to work together in the future on another project. Their chemistry feels very natural.
I also liked how the second lead plot was solved relatively quickly and how he became very lovable even if plutonic. I’ll miss the vibes this drama gave every single week.

Second Couple Should've Lead the series.
My favourite part of the series was the second couple. Overall I just found their backstories and motivations to be more interesting. I love the dynamic between the two of them and the little brother. I would've liked more screentime for the second leads to explore their dynamic more and perhaps her backstory more like was she lying the whole time?I found the main couple to be very bland and lacking chemistry especially in the beginning. Everytime the main couple were on screen I was so bored. I think the male lead was a bit immature and there was a lack of personality growth. I honestly don't mind an immature male lead like Jang Uk from Alchemy of Souls but as long as they grow and prove their worth and deservingness of their title. I hated how everyone was sucking up to Gong Ziyu and saying how he was persistant and what not like don't just say it, show it to me. Anyways after a couple episodes I started fast forwarding a lot of stuff because this show was lowkey making me mad.
I feel like the main female lead was miscast. I feel like her default facial expression is a worried expression. Esther Yu can act but I just don't think this type of role suits her natural face. I feel like they needed someone who could be a little more fierce. I think Esther Yu gave off a more cold vibe rather than fierce. I saw online someone say Zhou Ye would've been a better fit and I can completely see that.
When I personally watch shows, 60% of what i watch for is character dynamics like friendships, romance and just fun interactions. I thought that the character dynamics were not written well in this show. I thought that the main couple fell for each other way too easily like it mad no sense as to why he was so in love with her from the get go. I feel like they needed more fuel and reason like it just made me care for them even less since it didn't make sense. I also have no clue as to why everyone one was sucking up to Gong Ziyu like those Xue people and lowkey the elders too. This is another reason as to why I gravitated towards Shangjue, his thinking process actually makes sense and I love how he was willing to torture Shangguan. He's a very fair character with clear morals.
Anyways I really liked the premise and the plot of this show overall. I just found the first main couples love story to be dumb which is why half the time I was cheering for their downfall. I really liked Jinjings character and how hyper she was throughout the show. I probably wouldn't watch this show again especially since this show is really dialogue heavy like some talking scenes could last like 20 minutes between two characters.

Great Chemistry and Beautiful Visuals
This show is perfect for you if you want a more mature vibe from a romance couple where the female lead doesn't act like a baby all the time or have a baby voice.I enjoyed the pacing of this story and the romance. I like how its not too quick and how we could see Mo Xiu Yao gradually warm up to her rather than just randomly have him flip and start loving her.
I also love how the story unravels from an unreliable perspective and how it gives hints as to how unreliable she is. We basically get to see the story unfold as he is discovering who she is on a deeper level.
One thing I think this show does well is the cinematography. The shots of the backgrounds and buildings are so pretty. The colouring is very nice and I LOVE how we can actually see the actors skin textures. I'm glad they opted out of filtering the actors and actresses heavily however their makeup is still typically very white. It's also very nice that they're allowing the actors to use their own voices because I feel like Cheng Lei rarely does in his projects and this just shows how much his voice can bring to his characters.
Both actors are well casted because they both have a face that looks suspicious in my eyes. They both look like they're hiding something when their face is neutral which is perfect for this show as it leaves a bit of mystery and suspicion for me. I also think they visually complement each other well as they both have this mature vibe to them. It shows especially in the later half of the show but they are wonderful actors and are able to portray such great emotions with their eyes.

ML has no personality
the storyline itself in theory is quite cute although I’m not really sure why she was chasing him. one thing I really hate about this is that the male lead has NO personality whatsoever outside of being a cold person who likes the female lead.I also can’t tell if it’s the writing or the actor but to me it seems like Dylan Wang can’t act. Like he feels so stiff to me. Bai Lu was carrying. His acting also made it seem like they have no chemistry but I’ve seen their interview clips their chemistry is fine so idk what happened?!
I also did not really care for the side plot about her best friend. Overall it’s a cute rom com I guess but just not my taste.

Strong Start but Flat Last Episodes
Like the title says. I really enjoyed the first half of the show but unfortunatly the last 4-ish episodes I started getting bored. I think it was due to the fact that the one thing holding the female lead back throughout all the episodes was the same. The fact that he still spoke to his ex wife so once it hit like episode 8-9 it was getting too repetitive.I think this show displays quite clear communication trope like misunderstandings were quickly cleared up. Also the fact she was so insecure about his ex was annoying to watch but quite realistic. Like I think I would be insecure too if I were in her shoes.
Anyways acting was fun and I think their chemistry was okay. Not the best but also not the worst. Overall I had a fun time watching.

Insane Chemistry.
I think that this show was written very well. The casting was well done and so was the pacing. Surprisingly all 28 episodes felt necessary and none of them really felt like they were a filler episode. The main leads had so much chemistry and I loved their interactions so much. Honestly I think the female leads acting carried their relationship. I understand that the male lead is supposed to be somewhat broody and emotionless but near the end there were like one or two scenes where I feel like he needed to show a littl emotion like microexpressions but he didn't deliver. But thats just me being nitpicky. Overall he performed well.
I'm also so happy that this male lead actually had some weight to him and wasn't extremly skinny. It fit the character well. I also really liked the pacing of their relationship like it took long enough for us to feel that yearning and the jealousy. I also enjoyed the second leads storyline. I like how they were involved but their story didn't overpower the main characters
Anyways I would definetly rewatch this show since it lowkey has every element of a romance story that I like.

Overall very entertaining!
The overall plot is very fun and lighthearted especially near the beginning. I was laughing every episode however once it got to over 10 episodes the plot felt very draggy but luckily the speed picked up again after around episode 20. So i guess my biggest complaint is that there were too many unnecessary filler episodes. Other than that I LOVED the main couples banter and their interaction. I loved watching them scheme and bond. It was very funWas this review helpful to you?
Writing Falls a bit short but it’s still a fun show!
The cast has great chemistry but I feel like the writing fails them a bit.First off when the CXXs character starts liking her I feel like the transition could’ve been better because he randomly went from disliking her to immediately liking her. I feel like they should’ve eased into it a bit more.
Secondly the ending was a bit weird. It seemed like they were going to show us how he came through but no he just somehow appeared out of thin air?!
I feel like the random truck plot was super unnecessary and that they were just trying to drag the series. Stupid ass Kdrama truck 💀
Anyways I really enjoyed WYWs character. I thought she was super fun and that the plot was a very fun concept. I enjoyed the little schemes and how she used her chances. I also really enjoyed the ex boyfriend plot.
I liked how a major point of this show was to normalize periods especially amongst men.
Althought I spoke about a lot of the things I didn’t like, overall I had a fun time watching this series.

Cute Storylines
at first in the beginning I was a bit sceptical and I couldn’t really relate to the characters an found 小哥 a bit annoying but once they became adults I started to really enjoy the story.小哥’s storyline lowkey hit me the hardest and the actress roommate which I never expected cause I lowkey found them the most annoying in the beginning.
I loved that the father got with his mother they’re honestly such a cute pair. I also like how we didn’t get hot romance but a softer version because it honestly would’ve been weird since they grew up together.
anyways I think the way the story wrapped up was super rushed but overall I really enjoyed this show.

Type of drama where you should turn off your brain.
Ill start off with the good. I think the two leads have really good chemistry like I can buy them being a couple. I quite enjoy the pacing of the story and how he treated her during her highschool years. I think that era was the most fun to watch for me.I think my one criticism of this story is the iffy step siblings plot. Sure they aren't related by blood but they knew each other ever since they were like 10 and treated each other as such. I find it kinda weird how the moment she turned 18 he started viewing her as more. Of course they're not related by blood but before that he was treating her just as someone he needed to take care of. I personally would've enjoyed it more if he had a relationship outside of her before he started dating her at 18.
But ignoring this whole ethical debate and just focusing on their chemistry I can confidently say it is a very entertaining show.
The writing and storyline for the first half is so fun to watch but once she comes back after a couple years, thats when the story starts to decline a bit. In the first half I couldn't wait to watch the next episode but during the second half I could feel myself starting to get bored.

Just not my cup of tea
As much as I love Chen Xingxu I don't feel like wasting my time here. It was a sweet and light hearted romcom but the type thats more on the cheesy side. I could've sat through this during my teenage years but NOT now.CXX's character was making me cringe so badly. At first it was cute but once the misunderstandings started piling up I could not sit through it. I think they have decent chemistry though.
I like how the lawyer portion of thet stories were quite interesting and how she cares about her job. I enjoyed the side characters plot but nothing about this drama stands out that much imo.

A slow healing drama
I really enjoyed this show overall. I think that the cast was well casted and that they fit their roles very well. I honestly think this role fit Zhang Ruonan so perfectly like while watching I was like thats Wen Yifan, never did I think I was watching Zhang Ruonan.I think my one plot critisism is the transition between Hong Kong and their relationship restarting. I feel like it should've been more clear as to why she just decided to stop being afraid of her hometown and abuser again. My best guess is that time helped her think more clearly? I dont know I just think the transition could've been cleaner.
Anyways I am quite satisfied with the pacing of their relationship. A lot of shows get the pacing off leading the show to be boring but I think this show does that well. I also really liked the plot with her abuser and the results of that plot.
I kind of wish they made the female lead express her love a bit more because it feels like he is so much more captivated by her or I wish that they had a storyline of the male lead being upset with her so that she would have to take the initiative first. I feel like something like that could've balanced the dynamic a bit better.
Overall, I had a very good time watching it but I think its not a perfect show for me because at times I found the main characters decisions abit irritating like she was dragging her sadness which just mad the show extra depressing at times. But I can overlook it.

I also love how supportive Xiao Jue was with her feminist views which really comes off as him having stable masculinity. Overall I really liked the plot and the pacing I think was perfect for me however like most Cdramas I feel like it could have been like 5 episodes shorter.
I really liked their interactions throughout and how he found out quite early on in the series. I just find it really funny that from a random soldiers perspective if they saw them doing all that it probably would’ve looked like they were homosexual 😭😭

A slow and quiet storyline
As much as I love healing dramas, this one was a bit too slow for me. I lowkey had no clue what was gonna happen next cause it was so slow. I think there are just too many dramas coming out for me to want to stick to this show. I'll probably come back to it one day as the main leads have such a sweet chemistry but as for now I am dropping this show. Was this review helpful to you?
