Cute and heartwarming

This drama is not a masterpiece of flawless storytelling, but it doesn't need to be. It's only 4 episodes, which means any conflict that appears doesn't drag too long, and ultimately has a very happy ending.

I think it would've benefitted from being 2 episodes longer, but it definitely didn't need to be 12 or 16 episodes long. They wrapped up the storylines pretty well in the time they had.

Definitely recommended if you need to watch something easy and lighthearted one night. The chemistry of the actors is incredible, and they really do the whole "we've known each other for years so let's act like it" part very, very well.

Lovely, light & short romcom

A breath of fresh air from all the thriller kdramas we’ve seen so far this year. It's just 4 episodes long so it's fast-paced and super fun to watch! I really loved seeing Sooyoung as a top actress and Yoon Park as a single father here! The chemistry was there. Acting was spot on from all the cast. Writing and production quality were excellent. Exploration of the characters back story made the series believable and worthy of watching. It’s a cute, simple and light kdrama. The background music is pure enjoyment for the ears. If you are in need of some short romcom, then Fanletter, Please is for you!

It's about damn time Yoon Park becomes the ML!!!!

This is the first time I watched a mini-drama because I tend to choose longer stories that I can binge watch/ follow along for a few months BUT this drama was such a highly anticipated drama for me since it was announced. The plot is absolutely right up my alley and the main couple just oozes with chemistry and visuals. Choi Sooyoung and Yoon Park is just giving me everything I needed and I'm especially so soooo happy to finally see Yoon Park as the male lead in a romance drama. He definitely deserves to get more leading roles in dramas-- he gives such a perfect boyfriend-soft boy-green flag vibes. (kind of on a tangent, but I remember thinking how even though his character cheated on PMY in Forecasting Love and Weather, when they finally became friends again later he and PMY had more chemistry than PMY and SK did). I look forward to seeing Yoon Park as a ML in more dramas in the future, and hopefully a full length romance with Sooyoung soon!!!

Anyway, I definitely think the drama could have used a couple more episodes just to give us more cute/romantic scenes and to wrap everything up smoother BUT even with just 4 episodes, this drama was giving SO MUCH. I was surprised at the amount of story the cast were able to tell in just the 4 hours of the show because when it ended, it definitely felt complete. I also love that this wasn't just pure fluff and that they tackled serious life issues.

Like what everybody in the comments are saying, this show also has some really good OST and because it's just 4 hours worth of jam packed drama, it's going to be so easy to re-watch.

Just wanted to share one of my fav scenes in the show-- Its when they visited their high school, in the beginning of the scene, JungSeok was asking KangHee if she had something she wanted to tell him. KangHee was shook and asked how he knew she wanted to tell him something and JungSeok just walked straight towards her and whispered and laughed his response. I thought that was such an intimate moment for them.

Anyway, I hope you give this a try and enjoy it!!

Simple and Heartwarming

Fanletter is a very simple and heartwarming drama without any complicated storyline. We can surely call it a relaxing drama, because if you are tired of watching all those complicated storylines, then this will give you a break for sure, you can sit back and relax and watch peacefully without any tensions and Only 4 episodes with a very beautiful screenplay.

The cast was the main attraction. The chemistry between the main leads was so adorable to watch also that small kid and her cuteness were overloaded in all 4 episodes. I felt some dragging after E02 may be because of not much complications in the story which i mentioned earlier. But it is only my personal view. You can actually predict all the things.

Nothing more to say, E04 was beautiful, Even though everything was cliche, the amount of emotions they brought to those climax scenes were really beautiful, the ending also looks Good. Worth your time.. if you like simple feel good dramas, then try it.

Simple and touching short drama with adorable kids!

8.25

First of all, the episodes are about 1 hour long, so I am not sure why MDL listed them as 1 hr and 25 mins. These four episodes are just regular K-drama length and not the long Thai drama length.

In four short episodes, "Fanletter, Please" is able to tell a story of the struggles of a top actress and a single father of a young child with leukemia. The plot itself is quite simple and predictable. There might not be twists and turns, but the acting is solid and the story flows pretty well. The stars of the show are definitely the four children. Although they are all battling different illness, they are upbeat and funny, and more mature than some adults in this drama. They are really a joy to watch. Yoo Na, the lead child actress did an amazing job displaying different emotions. Not once do I find her annoying nor super, overly cutesy.

Choi Soo Young (FL) and Yoon Park (ML) have good chemistry, not sizzling hot, but good. They play their characters well and I root for them both. I wanted some more flashback scenes of them during high school, but due to the short length of the drama, I will have to be satisfied with what I got. Their struggles though real did not seem overly depressing or realistic. I guess this could be the light version of the trauma and hardships that they are going through. The romance is quite slow burn and there aren't many cute and fluffy scenes. I would say it's more mature and fluffy. The sweetest part of their romance is in the last episode with the gifts ML prepared for FL. They are thoughtful, sweet and super creative!!!

There are a couple annoying characters, especially those two hospital moms and the cartoonish villain. FL's mother has limited scenes and I want to know more about the mother-daughter relationship. Other that than, this is an easy watch, even if the tone is not as happy as I thought it would be by looking at the poster.

A cute love story that starts with a fanletter

There's only 4 episodes but it tell so much story. I couldn't count how many times i laughed and cry while watching this.
Father and daughter bond are so heartwarming. The depiction of entertainment world was accurate.
If only there's more romantic scenes for the couple it'll be more perfect. There are some unanswered questions, but it still enjoyable.
The acting, OST, and cinematography was really well done. They really put effort into making it.

Recommended if you're looking for a short lighthearted watch.

A Cliche Medley Done Right

A perfect afternoon binge with all the right cliches that will give you all the feels... Or something like that

This is one of those short dramas that doesn't really bring anything new to the table but samples and mixes a whole lot of good stuff and makes some kind of fusion, madly deal out of it. Single father, kid with cancer, first love meet again, fan-behaviour, evil reporters, betrayal, sucky parenting, misunderstandings ... Things we have seen done pretty much the same way as here but in a bunch of dramas. This one just puts them together in to one. And well I love it, I really do.

This is also a story about gossip, those who spread it, those affected by it and those who try to fight it...That part was less fun, I also found some of the scenes a bit cringey as I really hate it when people in the present are filmed talking to younger versions of themselves or loved ones. Connect to the past by flashback all you want but once you start mixing them it becomes just to much.

However the overall feel to this was good, I found myself smiling a lot and thinking ooooh how cute so I decided to forgive all the wrongdoings and go with it.

So if you like the above mentioned cliches you will love this if you do not then you know what to do

P.s I especially love how they show the kids in the hospital as kids with idols, dreams, fears... And not just as representatives of their illnesses

Bite size rom-com worthy of a binge

There is not a lot to be said about this drama. It is only 4 episodes long but to be fair, it is better than some shows of similar length which tries to jam too much into too short a runtime or too introspective resulting in much ado about nothing. It actually feels like a regular drama that has been parred back to the fundamentals. Obviously, there is not a lot of time to expand on some of the plots, but the core values are there. It managed to cover quite a range of topics that is relevant to the main plot.

Speaking of the main plot, it is all about the love line between the leads. It is sweet and swoon worthy for the most part. There is not a lot of skinship but there is enough towards the end to be counted as fan service.

Acting is good in general. The child actors are cute without being cloying. Their plots are just short of tear-jerking which is a nice balancing act. The FL is very much in her element and she delivered a solid performance. On the other hand, it is nice to see the ML in a lead role. He has been largely type casted in support roles and more often than not, a SML of dubious character. It was interesting that his role here is so loving and caring. It is almost as if his management company deliberately engineered this role so that he can showcase his potentials as a romantic lead without having to first leap into a breakout role like a psycho killer. The clock is ticking when it comes a romantic role even for a male actor. ;)

Overall, it is an easy watch that ticked all the boxes. The short time investment makes binging/re-watching this show perfect for a rainy weekend.

Subtle, soft and lovely

There's a lot of effort that has to go into making a story complete within four hours, and there's always that risk of it being rushed, or not deep enough. `Fanletter, please` does a really good job of handling this, giving us enough time to ease into the characters and their relationship together. I also loved how their past connected to their future, but was not the entire basis of their relationship.

I do think four episodes is not enough time to handle everything: (trigger warnings)

namely, grief, death, s*icide, bullying, panic attacks; and to that I do feel like it felt rushed, or underdeveloped, and that we could've gotten a portrayal of these in equal importance even if they weren't taken to these extremes. But I also do understand the rationale that was there, and saw the attempt to handle it well.

I've been waiting to see Yoon Park in a soft romance since Age of Youth (one smile and I was gone), and I feel like this drama fell right into the overlap of everything I wanted to see from him. Sooyoung continues to impress as always: her personality on screen and off screen bring me equal amounts of joy <3 I love seeing her on screen. Also big props to the actress who played Yoona, she did such a fantastic job at such a young age.

Overall: So worth a watch and so worth the time. I'd actually be willing to see them on screen for several more episodes if the drama gods get my drift.Really glad I watched this one.

Refreshing and Simple

I’m going to be honest, this is one of the first if not the first review I’ve written and I’ve got to say this drama deserves the review! I simply picked Fanletter, Please because it was only 4 episodes and was completely hyped because of Choi Sooyoung. Her acting and character selections always have me leaving the dramas she’s in happy. However, this drama was a short one so I was honestly quite unhappy so I read the earlier reviews and god knows I was super extra extra happy they were all good.

I’m also not going to lie, the premise of the plot is simple (I mean it’s 4 episodes AND in a rom-com format so I wasn’t expecting too much) but it’s also complex enough to be deemed worthy of the stars given to it! It was refreshing and easy to watch, there were no scenes that needed to be skipped. There we no unbearably dramatic or cheesy scenes so it was an all-around easy to watch show!

The chemistry was absolutely beautiful and as soon as I recognized the ML, I was swooning. Completely swooning. The two looked amazing together and their actual in-story characters were beautiful together considering the coincidental, only in a rom-com situation they found themselves in. Watching them regrow onto each other was completely amazing and the scenes with Bang Yu Na were SO CUTE. I think I’m a complete Yu Na stan but I digress.

When it comes to the actual story, I have got to say I was honestly surprised at how bad Kang He’s life was and how realistic it seemed after everything that happened to her. She was going through trauma, as I’d expect any actress/idol/celebrity to go through after all her experiences and everything seemed to be going downhill but I thought it was incredibly realistic given her image at the beginning of the drama.

If I have to state my favorite thing about the drama, it had to be Yu Na’s hope in Kang Hee. A fan’s undying support can really help a celebrity come out of their situations and help them thrive and I found that absolutely stunning. I know that’s not the super big “moral” of the story but I thought it stood out the most :)

If you got all the way to the bottom of this review, I hope you really do give this drama a watch! It was completely worth my time and I think it’ll be worth yours as well!

Good Enough

Korean Drama " Fanletter, Please " is a short and sweet drama.

The story is generic, yes, but it has plenty of sweet moments. Not as many romantic though, as it focuses on the relationship between the child and his father as well as the celebrity's struggles with fame and her background.

Unfortunately, and due to the short length of the drama, the story doesn't get deep into the characters' personalities and struggles, like the relationship of the actress with her mother. Rather, it keeps things in a balanced blend of fluff and melodrama.

On the other hand, the performances are enjoyable by all actors and actresses of the cast.

So, overall, six out of ten.

My new comfort show lmaooo

I usually don’t write review but I just wanted to share my opinion for this drama.

1st the actors and the acting:
I’m used to sooyoung I love her love her acting I have nothing but praise for her ^-^
The male lead (Yoon park?), I’m not very familiar with him but he played his role perfectly.
Shin Yeon woo is a an amazing child actress ! I think she made me cry at some point… I hope she goes far in life ^^

Now the drama itself:
I was disappointed at first when I saw it was only 4 episodes but now that I finished it I feel good(?).
Indeed a lot of things happened in a short amount of time but they did not drag those to make it last longer. No unnecessary misunderstanding, and there wasn’t 100000 plow twists or hidden antagonist trying to kill someone for X reason. Bonus point for the good communication skills.

In short I really enjoyed this drama. Everything is realistic and I love how they did not try to tone down the amount of messed up s*it celebrities have to go through and how “fans” are basically just thinking with their feet. An example that we saw in «fan letter please» is the bullying accusations. If a celebrity accuses another celebrity of “bullying” ( it could just be a fight btw friends not even bullying ) fans won’t wait for the other party to explain themselves or REAL proofs and will just harass the so-called culprit and once real proofs are shown those same fans will attack the one who lied as if they didn’t just believed them and almost ruined someone’s life/mental health… * cough * Soojin * cough * .

And a huge thank you to the writers for making Kang Hee accepts the work abroad, letting her finish it until the very end and not making her come back or miss this HUGE opportunity bc of LoVe~.

Y’all go watch it now.
