Finally, it's over!

Finally done with this… show. Was CLOY’s plot this messy too?? It started out so nice, but fell flatter than a pancake. I made the mistake of taking a two-week break between episode 12 and 15, so I had to catch up episodes 12-15 in one day because I wanted to finish it with everyone else. Thank the Lord for double speed and skipping.

The show was successful due to a handful of factors: the screenwriter, regardless whether one likes her or not, has created many successful dramas. The amazing leads that are known for their skills. KSH and KJW were great, though I find KSH had less to show in the first 10 or so episodes. KJW had a much more consistent performance in my opinion. The insanity of the plot. And the OST/any technicality such as cinematography, styling etc. The plot of this show was pure dogshit. It got worse with every episode especially after episode 12 (for me).

Now, me personally, I hated BaekHong! 😊 I did not like Hyun Woo as a male lead. I could never fully sympathize with him, which I did easier with Hae In. HW was just kind of unlikable to me, and I’m also quite annoyed that Hae In had to start the mature conversation at the very end of the last episode (even when she apologized for being mean after her surgery?? Girl, it is NOT your fault). How they argued over trivial matters etc. and how that was the reason they grew apart. On one hand you can argue that she takes agency to speak up (especially when you consider how YES took her autonomy the second he appeared on screen until his last breath. That man was obsessed with her and wanted full control over her. He disguised himself as a nice guy, but he was never able to hide that little psychotic sparkle in his eyes. When he wanted to have dinner with her, he chose everything: the plates, the wine glasses, the food, the wine. When he showed up as her guardian at the hospital, when he kidnapped her, when she wanted to collaborate with this dude to be part of the Trillion Club thing, etc.) , on the other it is once again her who takes accountability. Throughout the whole drama, I felt that HHI was sidelined – despite being the female lead. Her feelings, point of view, thoughts… all felt like a second-thought. Both from the POV of the other characters, but especially from the writer. HHI never felt like the priority, it seemed like she had to compromise and put herself second in order to make others “happy” or whatever, and that was annoying. Kim Ji Won is such a stunning actress, capable of giving a nuanced performance of a character that could have been so interesting. However, she gave her best with what she was given – which wasn’t much in my opinion.

The villains. You guys, I laughed so hard when Eun Seong died. Lmao. Anyway, these villains were so over the top that I could not stand it after a certain point. They felt too cartoonish. They got their karma, so that’s good.

This drama could have been a nice little character-driven story – had the writer given the characters more depth. Instead, we got a mix of insanity, barely any (good) romance, lots of trauma, annoying villains… To be very straightforward: this was a clusterfuck of a drama, and I’m happy it’s over.

---

“Annoyed that Hae In apologizes to Hyun Woo about her treatment towards him after surgery. Not her fault she didn’t remember him, why must she take accountability… also, when has his ass ever apologized to her? Seems like she compromises all the time for him throughout the show – oh, finally an apology at the end for forgetting his promise to always love her. Instead, he caused her pain.” – live commentary/thoughts while I was watching the last episode LOL.

Too much drama in a drama

Was this supposed to be all about actors crying? I should have paid more attention to the title cause the sobbing was sooooo unnecessary omg please stop making Kim Soo Hyun cry for the love of all that is dear!

There is something truly twisted going on in the directors heads because plot and script were all over the place no moderation whatsoever! The ML started out as a man who does not care if his wife died (is a human so unfeeling they wouldn't care if a person close to them died?) and then did a 360 spin in his personality and became the perfect loving husband? Right I get it.

And why all the misery???? There is a thing called balance and some people prefer to just add everything incoherently in a script leaving the viewer perplexed and tired. I feel tired.

AND NO KISS IN THE LAST EPISODE? WHY? WHERE IS THE ATMOSPHERE? Oh I know where perhaps it was lost somewhere between the tombstones...

Kim Soo Hyun tried really tried but the script and direction did not allow for much. He is -no matter how infinitely unrealistic- the perfect husband and we swoon. (He is the reason I give this an overall 6,5 the solid production cause we did see some pretty outfits and nice scenery).

Park Sung Hoon's role was wronged by the script because they simply portrayed him as evil when he was just desperate for affection. He was as always great.

Kwak Dong Yeon + Lee Joo Bin were PHENOMENAL as a side couple, like I would love to see them somewhere together again amazing work, loved their scenes!

Also loved the scened where the two families got together so I guess the side moments were entertaining. Ah so tired.

A Waist Of Time

Never in my 6+ years of watching Kdramas have I ever watched such a let down. To spare you time QOT is honestly more of a makjang than a rom-com. It reminds me of Penthouse due to the villains always winning.

The worst part of this story would be YES and his mother. They were SOOO UNNECESSARY. In usual kdrama plot the villains experience a downfall in episode 13-14, so that the spare air time is given to the leads. But not with QOT. You'll get to see their faces all 16 episodes and not to mention their downfalls are so unsatisfying that you will just be happy that they are not on screen. I can never watch a Park Sung Hoon kdrama anymore because of how much I see YES in him and how it enfuriates me. Even though I love the actor and think he did a fantastic job of portraying YES given he did not have too much to work on (like common the SML only screems and whines on how much he loves Haein).

The best parts of this kdrama were the actors and some storylines. I especially like the Yonguduri episodes because they brought some much closure to the characters.

This kdrama had so much potentiall up to episode 12 after that it went dowhill so fast. What do you mean that after batteling such a terrible illness Haein can have life altering surgery, but forget her memories... Not to mention than BHW getting arrested, hit by a truck and shot all in the span of 2 episodes...

Overall, I am ashamed that I even recommended this kdrama to my friends. I strongly advise against anyone watching it.

Overwhelmingly good

There is only one word that can describe it: overwhelming.
I have only been twice overwhelmed by tears to the point of suffocation by Korean dramas, the first time was not a good one as it was too cruel, however..
This drama is on a new level, i have never expirienced something so amazing on a screen before, i mean i knew this screen writer was very good but i have no idea how she manages to outdo herself every time..
any way, this was the best drama i have ever expirienced hands down, and aside from a few overly dramatic scenes that are borderline sci-fi, this was a perfectly flawless K-drama that might be a once in a lifetime expirience.

THE BEST DRAMA OF 2024

Kim Hee Won and Park Ji Eun have done it again; they have brought the best K-drama of the year so far. So, let's break it down to see why I consider it the best K-drama of 2024.

THE STORY:
When this drama was announced, it had an interesting premise, but not enough to catch my attention. I admit that what initially drew me to watch this series was the cast, as the story seemed somewhat cliché but intriguing enough to start. AND I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG. The way they've handled this story is simply masterful; they've turned what seemed like a cliché plot into an award-worthy tale. First off, they've taken all the clichés and turned them on their heads. In this drama, it's the female lead who always maintains composure, seemingly not showing much emotion until later on. Conversely, the male lead is the one who cries the most, who expresses his feelings the most, and who appears most sensitive, and that's something I've loved. It's true that this story may not appeal to everyone, and coupled with the length of its episodes, it might become somewhat tedious for some people, but I highly recommend it.

CHARACTERS AND COUPLES:
Let's start by discussing the main couple. I've read in some places that they didn't have much chemistry, but for me, it's been quite the opposite. In every scene, you can feel the tension and the love they have for each other but are unable to express. I think both protagonists are well-developed, with interesting backgrounds that will make more sense as the series progresses. The secondary couples in this series are among the best; the way their relationships progress, their performances, and the way they express emotions make the series even better. And lastly, the villain; few K-drama villains have managed to infuriate me as much as the one in this series. Seriously, you're going to be stressed out and you're going to suffer watching what this villain does.

OST:
One of the best OSTs I've heard within the world of K-dramas. I've seen many dramas, and few OSTs are as good as those of this series. They even make me want to buy the physical edition. Nothing more to add, 10/10.

CINEMATOGRAPHY:
This drama is beautifully directed. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and this is the case in this series. It has incredibly beautiful scenes, with a color palette that changes throughout the series depending on the situation our protagonists find themselves in.

CONCLUSION:
I would recommend this series to anyone looking for a drama to shed tears, to be moved alongside the characters, and to enjoy it for a few days without binge-watching it since the episodes are long.

If you've made it this far, thank you very much for reading, and I hope you can enjoy this series as much as I did.

Why so much hype

I understand why some called it overhyped but for me it's soo good that's why its lacking.
First, the chemistry of the main leads is top notch, they look visually appealing and they both superb in acting that you will always got caught in their emptions. Hae in especially is a nonchalant person but when she cries and open up her heart a tiny bit, you'll definitely get into a hurricane of emotions with her. And hyun woo, gosh he's a Forest of green flag that will set your standard so high.

I like the OST, music goes with the scene and I just liked it that i downloaded it.

Then what I dislike is........ the acting was good, the premise of the story is good, sooo good to the point that the scenes are lacking. It feels like so much is fast forward and there are things left unanswered, and it ended without satisfying my curiosity. Sometimes I need to turn off my brain for a few sec to avoid myself from wondering "why didn't he do this? Or how can he do that thats theoretically impossible".

I don't know if its a good thing or not but feels like too much cliches mixed together and got recycled.

I still give it 10 and recommend it because it's a story where I didn't skip a thing and its funny cause it's comedy but it can also break your heart then it flutters your heart. Overall amazing for me just wish there are more scenes that would give the baekhong relationship a justice.

Masterful Storytelling - Not a crier until this one!

I'm honestly don't understand the comments that say this drama was overhyped. Sure, did it have some tropes? Yes. And at times, I thought it was too tragic (like Hyun-Woo's car accident was uneccessary. The kidnapping was enough!) However, I thought that this was a well told story. I thought the writing and the pacing were done well, the ending didn't feel rushed. It felt like a really raw and honest story. Casting was perfect (KSH and KJW did amazing! So did PSH - i hated his character so much), music was good and well placed, and beautiful cinematography. We got to see what happens when people miscommunicate, how feelings can get skewed, examples of good love vs unhealthy obsession and the need to be open. I think all the characters had well-written and believable character development. We got plenty of romance, tension, laughs, annoyance (ALL the feels) throughout. I don't feel like there were any plot holes or filler scenes. Everything about the way this story was told was engaging to me. I really loved it. I have never really cried while watching dramas, but I was definitely crying with everyone else in this one (How dare they call this a rom com! lol).

Loved it! Would recommend, but I don't think I could watch it again ( even though I know how it ends I don't think I could go through that again lol!)

Must watch!

Both my husband and I watched this drama together and we loved it. We thought that it will be a romantic comedy, but we were wrong. It was a lot of angst and a little bit of comedy only. The acting especially KSH acting is top notch. I cried almost every episode and I empathize thoroughly with all the characters.

One of the best kdrama in 2024

I don’t know even when to start about this show wow wow wow. It has surpassed all of my expectations and more this is one of the best kdramas out there and I see why it has surpassed my other favorite show crash landing on you.

Queens of tears is just at show it’s so wholesome and raw and really. It showed how we fall in love and how lack of communication and misunderstandings can ruin something so beautiful. I have never cried like I have with this show episode after episode until the end but you know what it was worth it cause the show was just that beautiful and more.

I really like the actress that played Hong Hae In she was the perfect choice for this role she killed it and I’m so glad I got to see her again cause I loved her in the Heirs she played Rachel so good. When I saw her play this role in Queen of tears it was amazing she deserves all the recognition and respect cause she did a spectacular job at this role.

The love story of Baek Hyun Woo and Hong Hae In was amazing to watch the ups and downs of their relationship and more was a great show but I can’t for Yoon Eun Sung wow I really don’t like him and what he did in the show but I will say Park Sung Hoon really played that role well cause we didn’t like his character at all hahah he deserves an award for best supporting actor cause he really played it well the villain.

Overall I can say this Queen Of Tears is a must watch it and yes it’s worth all the hype that it is getting cause it’s that good and it’s the best drama and waiting for the special 2 episodes!!!

Never had a Kdrama left me so happy and so sad at the same time!

the Kdrama "Queen of Tears" truly touched my heart, bringing forth a mix of joy and sadness. It beautifully depicts the importance of cherishing loved ones, fostering family unity, sharing moments of laughter, tears, meals, love, and togetherness. Despite time passing quickly, the series delivers a powerful message about finding happiness in life's fleeting moments. I am genuinely thankful for the profound impact this show has had on me.

Bad writing, not worth its watching time

This is a great example how a terrible writing can ruin a production.
It is not cheap, it is really bad. Small dialogues and jokes are OK, but the main line
and the plot as a whole is the lowest possible quality.
All the beautiful acting of the main leads and of the secondary ones is lost.

This writing is at his best when it does not exist. Fortunately, about 40% of the 16 times 1.5 hours
nothing happens, and that is the best of this writing. The remaining of the story is either
100% foreseeable or disrespectful towards the spectators or simply of bad taste
or terribly boring.

The music is carefully chosen and nice, though probably not at all perceivable outside of the show.
The music would not stand out by itself as is the case with the music of other shows.

It is one of the rare cases, where I had to struggle with myself to keep watching; I did it only
in order to be able to write this review knowing it all. Do not repeat my mistake!

In short: this show is not worth the time of watching it because of the terrible writing and despite of beautiful and good actors.

Good writing always works!

It's simply a very well-written drama with an engaging plot and excellent romance. The long episodes go by like a lightning, it's very well-made, with a complicated family in the center of it all living through two simultaneous crisis. Kim Soo Hyun portrays his most vulnerable main lead, it's such a great testimony to his acting. The secondary cast simply served, they are all charismatic and interesting in their own ways. I could barely see those hour and a half episodes going by. Streaming, INVEST IN YOUR WRITERS! Also the soundtrack is so iconic. Definitely a 10.
